Someone Had To Do Something
"Just like that?" asked Jason making Dr Andesh wonder what he meant by his question.
"Yes, your father has searched many years for you and he never gave up hope of finding you," Dr Andesh explained. "The search was a bit difficult when we tried to be discrete about it. You never came to mind even though you have a striking resemblance to Mr Wellington," she added.
Jason stared at her in silence with an expressionless look. There was enough distance between them and hence Jason did not have much of a problem with her presence.
"We always thought you were Mr Haward's biological son. The day I found out you weren't, you went out of the country," Dr Andesh explained further. "But tell me, what made you come to look for me?" she asked curiously.
Jason remained silent as he thought about her question. He was not ready to disclose that to her.
"Let's save that for another day. I don't believe you came all the way here to just talk," Jason said.
"You are right. You requested an audience with Mr Wellington. He also wants to meet you," Dr Andesh said. "When are you available?" she asked taking a small diary from her bag.
"Let's see weekend," replied Jason.
"That is great. Saturday or Sunday, afternoon?" Dr Andesh asked.
"Saturday, 2 p.m. works for me," Jason replied.
"That is perfect," Dr Andesh wrote it down in her diary. "I will take my leave now," she said and stood up to her feet but Jason remained sited.
"Sure," Jason replied.
"Here. This is Mr Wellington's contact just in case you want to call before the time," Dr Andesh said and placed the card on the table.
Jason's eye shifted to the card on the table as Dr Andesh walked herself to the door. The door closing made Jason move his gaze to the door. He got up and went to sit behind his desk. He realised he had been nervous all the time Dr Andesh was around and had only managed to remain composed. He turned on the monitor and searched for Julia. After going through all the monitors connected to the restaurant he finally found Julia at the counter giving a customer's order to the cook. He relaxed in his seat as he watched her on the screen and he suddenly felt calm.
At a different place, James and Fiona were both lying on the bed exhausted from their passionate session.
"Did you mean all that you said earlier?" James asked.
"Yes, I meant every word," Fiona replied with her head resting on James's chest as she drew circles with her fingers on his bare chest.
James held Fiona's hand stopping her from what she was doing making her lift her head to look at him.
"You love me?" he asked.
"Yes, I do," Fiona replied turning to now face him as she lay on her side with half of her body lying on top of him.
"And you are pregnant?" James asked.
"Yes," Fiona replied looking into his eyes as he stared back at her.
"How sure am I that you were not with someone else when you left Florida?" James asked.
"I was mad at you, but moving away from Florida irrespective of what happened I couldn't stop thinking about you. I didn't have any interest in any other man. There is no way I can prove I wasn't with anyone else but I promise you, I was never with another man," Fiona replied and James could tell she was being honest with him.
"Okay, I believe you," James replied wrapping his hands around her as she placed her head back on his chest.
"I guess we have to leave now," Fiona said with her head still resting on his chest.
"Yeah, but who else knows about your pregnancy aside from me?" James asked pretending he didn't know anything.
"Your sister," Fiona replied quickly.
"My sister?" James asked.
"Yes, I was with her at the hospital?" Fiona replied.
"Hospital? Check up?" James asked.
"Yes," Fiona replied and got up finding her clothes scattered on the floor.
She quickly dressed up and James remained on the bed admiring her as she dressed up. She sat on the bed and kissed him on the lips before leaving.
"I need to be careful around this girl she almost pinned me down," James thought as he picked up his clothes and put them on. "I just need to coax her for now until I get rid of that bastard," he said and walked out of the room, sat in his car and drove home.
James went straight to his mum as soon as he got home.
"Mum, Fiona is back," James announced.
"What do you mean she is back," asked Mrs Haward sitting on the sofa in her room.
"She didn't come back alone," James added.
"Son, if you try speaking English I will understand," Mrs Haward said.
"She came back pregnant," James announced pacing up and down her room.
"And what is your problem if she is pregnant?" Mrs Haward asked.
"Because that is my child she is carrying," James announced.
"How sure are you it's for you even if she is pregnant?" Mrs Haward asked staring at James.
"I gave that a thought, but I was her first. I knew that the day I touched her," James said still pacing up and down the room.
"Mum, I need you to help me get rid of her. I only wanted to sleep with her not to raise a family," James said and sat down next to her mother.
"Son, what are you saying?" Mrs Haward asked looking at him suspiciously.
"I need that pregnancy gone," James said.
"Huh," Mrs Haward replied.
"Please mum, help me. I have a plan but I would need your help?" James said.
"What is your plan?" Mrs Haward asked and James leaned in and whispered into her ears making her eyes widen. "You are truly my beloved son but what are you going to do about that crazy sister of yours?" she asked.
"Let her go leave with Henry for a while," James proposed.
Fiona arrived at her house and using the back door she went out of the house and used a secret passage to her friend, Vera's house.
"How did it go," Vera asked once Fiona was sitting down on one of the stools in the kitchen.
"He fell for it," Fiona replied.
"Good. Now all you need to do is play along until you have a piece of solid evidence he was the one that night," Vera said.
"Thanks, Vera, you have been of great help and I appreciate this a lot," said Fiona.
"Someone needed to do something. You are not his only victim, he did the same to me. He didn't drug me though but he did force himself on me and got away with it when my parents reported," Vera said.
"No way," exclaimed Fiona.
"Yes, I was a shop attendant at a shop where he usually comes to buy clothes. I was always at the back but I served him that day and he kept asking for me after," Vera narrated and Fiona listened attentively.
"He gave me his card and asked me to call him. I was so excited and stupid so I called him and he invited me out to a club. Inside the club in one of the private rooms," Vera shut her eyes at the memory.
"He, he, he pinned me to the sofa and..." Vera said but her voice thrilled off.
"It's okay," Fiona consoled her.
"He left me wounded and in tears with my clothes torn. That was the last time I saw him. I was in the hospital for two days and my parent confronted his family but his mother threw them out of the condo like they were criminals and got my father arrested for trespassing on private property. My mum passed on when news got to her that my father was gone. I was left alone because of him. I promised myself I would work myself to the top and come for him," Vera said and her gaze became terrifying.
"I am back to take my revenge and I will not stop until I send his sorry ass to jail just as his family did to my father," Vera said with lots of anger.
"We deserve justice and James must be stopped," Fiona said.
"Did you sleep with him?" Vera asked picking the expensive unique perfume scent on Fiona.
"No," Fiona lied feeling awkward.
"Don't lie to me. I know James's perfume and for it to be this strong on you.." Vera began.
"Okay, you wanted me to be as natural as possible. The situation called for it so I allow things to flow naturally at least now he believes me," replied Fiona.
"Trust me, James loves no one but himself. I am sure he is making plans for you so be very careful. James doesn't lose his mind in bed," Vera warned. "And careful you don't get pregnant for real," she added.
"I will be careful," Fiona replied pulling her hair.
"Don't get your heart in the way and don't forget to take the medication I gave you," Vera said to Fiona.
"I am. I was able to fool her sister into believing I was pregnant when I was having morning sickness," Fiona said with a smile.
"Yes, that is what the medicine does. Make you exhibit signs of pregnancy," Vera explained.
"But wait! How did you know which hospital I was going to be taken to?" Fiona asked.
"Girl, I am here for revenge and I don't want anything messing it up. I know how to get into any system I want," Vera replied. "I came prepared to put James behind bars" she added.
"Oh, I see, you engaged the doctor before I got there," Fiona asked with a smile.
"They had money and called the shots. Now I have money too so I can. Let's see who wins in the end," Vera said with a smile plastered on her face.
Back at Paradise Hotel, it was past Julia's closing time and she was still in the finance office getting the rest of her documents to them. Peter thought she had already left so he freely stepped out of his office holding his laptop in hand about to go to Jason's office.
"Peter," came a familiar voice.
"Hmm," Peter replied and raised his head to meet Julia's gaze. "O shit!" he thought as he looked at her staring back at him with mixed emotions.
