Let's trade
Jason kissed Julia's forehead and they both walked towards the exit.
James pushed himself up from the ground and managed to stand on his feet. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and noticed a stain of blood.
"Jason does have some dangerous punches." James thought as he cleaned himself up.
"Sir, please you have to leave," came the voice of one of the restaurant staff.
"Shut up," yelled James and he took long strides walking past the restaurant staff person and pushing him with his shoulders in the process.
Not wanting to walk through the customers of the restaurant who had crowded the ground floor, he asked another hotel staff to show him a different route out of the hotel which she did. James was soon out of the restaurant, he sat in his car and drove back to the Haward's apartment angry.
Jason, on the other hand, took Julia to a night beach. With some cities on the other side of the sea. With the lights of the cities on, the beach was a sight to behold.
"Wow, this is beautiful," commented Julia.
"You like it?" Jason asked hugging her from behind.
Feeling his breath close to her cheeks as he leaned in resting his chin on her shoulder, Julia smiled and placed her hand on his.
"I love it," Julia replied.
"Do you want it?" Jason asked and Julia frowned.
"What do you mean?" Julia asked turning to face him.
"As in do you want to own it?" Jason made his question clearer making Julia gasp in surprise.
"You want to buy the beach for me?" Julia asked surprised and Jason nodded.
"Jason that is crazy. I mean it's beautiful but I don't want to own it," Julia replied turning to look at the beautiful lights from afar.
"Julia, my love, this is my way of saying I am sorry for all you had to go through during working hours and an apology for how long it will last," Jason said.
"Sssh," Julia said placing her finger on Jason's lips as she turned to face him again.
"After that conversation with Henry, I came to understand a whole lot and I know that woman is pure evil. I wish I didn't have to work under her but I trust you," Julia said staring into his eyes.
Jason smiled and slowly closed the gap between them until their lips found each other. Under the beautiful moonlight, they wrapped their arms around each other and drowned themselves in their passionate kiss.
Meanwhile, back in the Haward's apartment, James arrived at the apartment with a swollen face.
"What happened to you?" asked Mori with concern.
"Jason and Julia happened," James replied angrily as he walked towards the fridge at the bar.
He opened it and brought out some ice, which he placed on the swell of his face.
"What do mean, Julia and Jason happened?" Mori asked.
"I don't want to talk about it," James said and proceeded to his room leaving Mori standing alone in the living room.
Mrs Haward walked in with a smile which quickly vanished upon seeing Mori's face.
"What happened?" Mrs Haward asked with concern.
"Welcome and don't mind me. It's James, I think he was involved in a fight," Mori reported.
"Where is he?" asked Mrs Haward who immediately looked concerned.
"He went to his room," replied Mori and Mrs Haward quickly left to take care of James.
Back at the beach, Jason and Julia were sitting down on a swing hand in hand.
"Let's go home, is getting late," Julia requested.
"Sure," replied Jason and he stood up first helping Julia up.
They walked towards the parked car hand in hand.
"Can you drive?" Jason asked and Julia giggled.
"You forget I used to be a school bus driver," Julia replied still giggling.
"Yeah, right," Jason said smiling.
They soon got to the car and Jason gave the keys to Julia. She got behind the wheels and Jason sat next to her.
"It's good we made Peter take the lead home, look at the time, is very late and we should have been home two hours ago," Julia commented.
"I am home," replied Jason and Julia turned to look at him in the co-drivers seat. "Wherever I find myself, once you are with me, I am home," he said and Julia smiled. "You are my home," he added and Julia instantly became emotional which Jason noticed.
"You can't drive in tears," Jason teased and Julia smiled.
She brought the car to live and made a turn, driving away from the beach towards the main street. Once on the street, she made a couple of turns and they were now on a straight route back to the apartment.
When they arrived at the apartment it was midnight. Jason used his keys to unlock the door and they both entered. Once upstairs they both took a shower and climbed into bed. Julia placed her head on Jason's chest and wrapped her arms around him. Jason wrapped his arms around her lying down and facing upwards but Julia would not lie still as she kept moving her hand up and down rubbing his shoulder. Jason smiled and moved his body towelling her halfway on the bed. She stared quietly at him as he stared back at her. The next minute a magical moment engulfed both of them and that's how the night went.
Back at the Hawards', James had finally fallen asleep. Mrs Haward got up and left his room carrying the first aid kit with her. She was very unhappy with Jason beating her beloved son like that. Filled with anger, she tossed and turned in her bed thinking of what she could do to get back at Jason but nothing came to mind.
The morning light entered the room and Mrs Haward cursed knowing she had to get ready for work even though she didn't sleep throughout the night. She got ready and left the apartment for work feeling grumpy. James stayed at home for a while to recover.
By the time James was better, Mrs Haward who spent days nursing his wounds was very exhausted. She was still in her probation period and she knew this looked very bad for her as within the period of James's recovery she had not been focused enough even though she practically did nothing aside from following the flow and spending some time giving Julia a hard time. She arrived at the Hotel and proceeded to her office. She placed her bag down and sat down behind her desk. She turned on her laptop and went into her email and her eyes widened seeing the lined-up task with deadlines she needed to attend to. She opened each one of them and realized she had no idea what to do. She got up and carrying her laptop went straight to Andrews's office which was just behind hers
"I have some tasks I need you to work on ASAP," Mrs Haward said as soon as she entered the office skipping greetings.
Andrews frowned inwardly about her ill manners and again, they were both of the same level, managers, and those are her tasks to execute, so why is she bringing it to him? He stared at her in silence but kept mute because he was aware of the plan.
"I am forwarding them to your email now," Mrs Haward added and pulling the seat, she sat down, placed her laptop on his table and forwarded all the tasks to him.
"There, I need those tasks completed before the end of the week," Mrs Haward said and got up awaiting his response.
"Sure," Andrews acknowledged and she walked out of his office.
She breathed a sigh of relief and smiled.
"If the task is not completed I can put the entire blame on him," Mrs Haward thought and walked back into her office with a smile of achievement.
Mr Wellington sat in his office and watched her on the monitor. He had been watching her for some time and keeping tabs on everything she was doing. He smiled, happy she was dancing right into the trap they had set for her. An email dropped in his box and his smile broadened.
"Great, it is time to bring her in," Mr Wellington said with a smile.
He picked up his phone and dialled the extension to Mrs Haward's office.
Back in Mrs Haward's office, she had checked the time and knew Julia should be in. She got up ready to go make things difficult for her but before she could step out her phone rang. She returned to her desk and answered the call.
"Hello," Mrs Haward said.
"Hello Mrs Haward, please come to my office. It's very urgent," came Mr Wellington's voice.
"Okay," Mrs Haward replied and placed the receiver back.
She immediately left her office for Mr Wellington's up on the last floor. She knocked gently on the door ready to impress. Hearing a voice asking her to come in she opened the door and entered.
"Mrs Haward, please have a seat. Looking gorgeous this afternoon," Mr Wellington praised making her smile.
He stood up from behind his desk and leaned on the side of the table.
"You recall our conversation before you started working here," Mr Wellington began and she nodded waiting to hear what he had to say.
"I have been monitoring you closely. FYI your office is bugged," Mr Wellington said and smiled as Mrs Haward's colour flashed knowing where the conversation was going.
Recalling some of the things her late husband had told her about Mr Wellington, she knew there will be a price to pay if her work did not impress him. She was on that path.
"I must say, I am not at all impressed by your productivity. It's obvious you know nothing and on top, you used your position to bully my staff," Mr Wellington pointed out.
"But that is not the problem. I can deal with that but there is something I want and you can give me," Mr Wellington said and Mrs Haward frowned her brow wondering what he was going to demand.
"What do you want?" Mrs Haward asked with a made-up mind to reject whatever his demand would be.
"I want the Hawards' fortune," Mr Wellington demanded.
"What is in it for me?" Mrs Haward asked with anger registered on her face.
"Jason does not rise again," Mr Wellington said and Mrs Haward started giving it a thought.
"Jason was doing a better job here. I was thinking of an end to our partnership and bringing him back. With everything Jason knows, that puts you in a very bad position. So what is it going to be?" Mr Wellington said.
Mr Wellington was right, if she partners with him, she gets away with everything and anything. On the other hand, if Jason attains that power it will be doomsday for her.
"I become a confirmed owner of this property?" Mrs Haward asked and he pushed the documents in front of her.
"Let's trade, the Hawards' fortune for the destruction of Jason," Mr Wellington proposed and Mrs Haward smiled.
Mrs Haward recalled the reason why her husband never went through with the partnership deal. This side of Mr Wellington, his craving for power.
"I accept," Mrs Haward said with a smile without any further thought.
The fact that he is going to give her Paradise Hotel and also destroy Jason, was enough reason to accept the offer.
"You can take this home go through it and sign but as requested the Hawards' fortune becomes mine," Mr Wellington said and she smiled.
"Sure," Mrs Haward said and got up offering a handshake as acceptance, exiting the office with the document in hand and a smile on her face.
She went back to her office knowing she was under surveillance now but felt that was the least of her problems. She went out of the office during her break to confirm how authentic the documents were to ensure she had not been fooled. She smiled when she confirmed the documents were legit. She quickly signed it knowing the Hotel had indeed been handed over to her. She returned to the office and spent the rest of the day feeling happy.
Upon arriving home, she happily went for the documents she made Julia sign and without much thought transferred the fortune to Mr Wellington, after all, it's just a part of the fortune, the rest remains under her.
The very next day Mrs Haward presented the documents to Mr Wellington who smiled with satisfaction.
