Who Made Her an NPC?!

Chapter 131 : After You Die, I Will Let The Truth Be Buried With You

Chapter 131: After You Die, I Will Let The Truth Be Buried With You

A mess of thoughts scurried chaotically through her mind. Yulia looked toward Hei Fu, her gaze gradually taking on an unusual gleam.

She pondered carefully. For Bai Fu to go this far for her, there were only two possibilities.

一. Bai Fu lusted after her body, believing she could draw strength from it.

二. Bai Fu lusted after her body—though this lust was different from the previous kind. Only those who understood would understand.

As for the reason that Bai Fu was a living saint who wanted to save everyone she met—utterly untenable.

Had she only heard tales of Bai Fu at the Abandoned Cooling Plant, she might still have believed that. But after spending some time with Bai Fu in the Goli Desert, she knew well that this woman, who looked like a goddess of mercy, was in fact a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Of course, Yulia didn’t dislike this kind of personality now.

After two years of betrayal and capture, she had come to realize deeply that to survive in this chaotic world, not using a few tricks was extremely difficult.

Beyond that, she had also come to understand another truth—never let emotions take the lead.

In the past, she would have insisted on staying simply because Bai Fu had come to save her, fighting alongside her to the bitter end.

【Even if we die, we must die together!】

But now, she had shed that silly “naivety.” She knew that in her current state, staying behind wouldn’t help Bai Fu—it would only become a burden and drag her down. Listening to Bai Fu and leaving quickly was the wisest choice.

“Bai Fu.”

Yulia’s gaze toward Hei Fu grew resolute.

“If you die, I’ll come back and avenge you. I’ll bury the entire Truth Society with you.”

As she spoke these words, there was no hatred in her voice, no venom, just a flat, matter-of-fact tone—like a narrator recounting an already-established fact. Yet this calm voice, combined with her icy blue hair, cold yet stunning face, and the faint smile curling at the corners of her lips, exuded a strange, intimidating aura.

Bai Fu was moved.

She had thought Yulia would say something like, “You must survive,” or “Once we escape from here, let’s xxxx”—and flood her with death flags. She didn’t expect Yulia to hit her with a reverse flag instead.

Well then, Bai Fu suddenly felt her chances of walking out of the Truth Society’s main base alive had significantly improved.

“Go.”

Bai Fu controlled Hei Fu and waved her hand.

Yulia turned around and, under the escort of Tiny Hei Fu, quickly fled.

From afar, Benardo noticed the movement. He immediately commanded a Beast-mutated Mutant to lunge at Yulia.

“Kill her!”

“Hmm?”

Hei Fu raised her brow slightly. Just as the Beast-mutated Mutant charged halfway forward, a few Tiny Bai Fu who had been lying in ambush suddenly exploded like thousand-pound hammers smashing into the chest and abdomen. The leading Beast-mutated Mutant howled and was blasted into the air, shattering the ceiling above.

The first round ended with Hei Fu gaining the upper hand.

At that moment, Dr. Aid panicked. Though he held high status in the Truth Society, in terms of strength, he was nothing but a weakling. If Bai Fu and Benardo clashed, even a stray shockwave could kill him.

“I… what should I do, I…”

Hei Fu didn’t even turn her head. “I don’t have time to care about you. Whether you survive depends on your own luck.”

Dr. Aid gritted his teeth and ran.

If he could escape the base, he might still have a sliver of hope.

But just as he reached the escape corridor’s entrance, the ceiling above suddenly collapsed. Along with the falling concrete and broken rebar, a steel claw bristling with scimitars crashed down. The blades pierced the area around his neck, embedding deeply. With a twist of the claw, a geyser of blood erupted, and his head was ripped clean off.

“Ah——”

Dr. Aid’s scream was cut off abruptly.

Moments later, a 3-meter-tall Beast-mutated Mutant leapt from the shattered ceiling. He casually tossed Dr. Aid’s head onto the floor, locking his crimson eyes onto Bai Fu. Scorching breath snorted from his nostrils.

“If you insist on interfering, then trade your life for Yulia’s!”

Murderous intent gleamed in Benardo’s eyes like he would devour anyone in his path. No sooner had he spoken than five or six Beast-mutated Mutants began surrounding Hei Fu from different directions.

Hei Fu’s expression grew grim.

It was now a fight to the death. Never mind that this was just a Twin Spirit projection—if it were her main body, she wouldn’t hold back either.

“When surrounded, the best way is to pick one and beat them down!”

Infused with rage, Hei Fu activated Super Burst (Bai Fu). Her Psionic Value dropped by 30%, HP dropped by 20%, but with the stacking of two special Skills, all her Stats soared by 15%. Strength, Agility, and Spirit even shot up by an extra 18, 18, and 10 points respectively.

And it didn’t stop there—she locked onto the Beast-mutated Mutant with the most buffs on the field, then bound him with Chain Reaction, forcefully stealing a 12% attribute boost buff from him.

At this moment, Hei Fu’s overall Stats had completely surpassed Bai Fu’s main body.

All of this happened in the blink of an eye. One second ago, in Benardo’s senses, Hei Fu was like a sun. The next second, she suddenly transformed into an impending Supernova—blazing hot and dazzlingly bright.

What the hell?

He instinctively felt something was wrong, but had no time to react. Hei Fu was just too fast—with Agility near 130, plus the forced-displacement Skill 【Flowing Light】.

In the blink of an eye, Hei Fu flashed in front of Benardo. Coupled with the control from the Void Energy Orb on surrounding Beast-mutated Mutants, she opened with a triple-hit combo of Dark Burn to the face. Psionic energy turned into dark flames, crashing down like meteors and slamming hard into Benardo’s body.

“-476”, “-428”, “-431”

Three glaring blood-red damage numbers floated up from Benardo’s head. One strike and nearly two-thirds of his HP was gone!

Benardo was blasted backward. Midair, a beast-like roar erupted from his throat.

He had never imagined that death could come this close. If not for the specialized protective suit he wore and his Esper Power’s cushioning effect, he might’ve been killed instantly just now.

What kind of ability was this? This was the first time he knew a Psionic Prayer-user could possess such terrifying melee power. If this could be used repeatedly...

Unthinkable.

A monster—Bai Fu was a monster. Ten times, a hundred times more monstrous than any Beast-mutated Mutant the Truth Society had ever created!

Benardo’s mind was in turmoil, his face twisted with pain and terror.

The moment he landed, he quickly pulled out a potion from his clothes and chugged it down.

“+100”, “+100”

The next second, the effect of Extra-dimensional Erosion fully stacked and exploded inside Benardo. Clutching his chest, he knelt amid the smoke and dust of the blast, coughing up mouthfuls of blood.

“Block her, quick, block her!”

Benardo shouted in panic.

He was grateful that he had taken the special recovery potion immediately; otherwise, he would likely have already been blown motionless, lying helpless on the ground, waiting for Bai Fu to butcher him.

Seeing that Benardo wasn’t dead, Hei Fu felt a bit regretful. However, being able to cripple such a high-end combatant in a single encounter meant that earlier burst was well worth it.

Even though she had lost 30% of her HP, she was just a True Spirit.

Bai Fu cast a True Spirit Repair across space, instantly raising Hei Fu’s HP by 200. She was confident that she could fully restore Hei Fu’s HP before Hei Fu’s Psionic Shield was broken. That way, Hei Fu could unleash several more casts of Dark Burn—provided they could stall out the cooldown.

As Benardo was smashed into the air, all surrounding Beast-mutated Mutants charged toward Hei Fu in great strides.

These Beast-mutated Mutants each had their own strengths. Some had undergone mechanized modifications and looked like mechanical monsters. Others had bodies that rapidly swelled under the effect of drugs, resembling little giants. Still others were engulfed in burning flames, like men of fire.

Regardless of their form, all these Beast-mutated Mutants shared one thing in common: they were incredibly powerful. Even the weakest among them had strength near that of high-level Espers.

Hei Fu wasn’t foolish enough to stand among the crowd and fight them all at once. Her right foot, encased in combat gear, came down thunderously upon the head of a Beast-mutated Mutant. In the moment she forced the mutant to its knees, she slipped away like an oiled eel. Her feet rapidly tapped across the foreheads of the mutants, using the broken ceiling to leap out of the encirclement. Relying on the Void Energy Orb and the support of Tiny Bai Fu and Tiny Hei Fu, she began to weave through the group of Beast-mutated Mutants.

The fierce battle thus began. Hei Fu darted and twisted using her agile feet, but the Beast-mutated Mutants weren’t to be underestimated either. Their Esper Powers, martial Qi Surges, and mechanical missiles combined to gradually shrink Hei Fu’s room for evasion. The shockwaves from the clashes between powerhouses ruthlessly tore apart the base of the Truth Society.

Watching from a distance, Benardo’s eyes turned even redder. This base had been the result of his countless efforts!

“Activate the final plan!”

He dragged his wounded body toward his office, contacting his assistant as he walked.

Hearing his command, the assistant’s face changed drastically. “Minister, are you really going through with this?”

The so-called final plan was actually a self-destruction contingency—placing bombs throughout the base to perish together with the enemy.

For years, the Truth Society had been guarding against other major factions attacking their main base. They had long been prepared to take the enemy down with them if they couldn’t win. Even a high-level Esper would have no chance of survival if subjected to massive explosions in a sealed space.

But being prepared didn’t mean they actually intended to execute it.

Though the base was under attack from both inside and out, the external assault wasn’t as severe as expected. By all appearances, things hadn’t yet reached the point of blowing up the entire base.

“That’s an order! Activate the plan first. Whether to detonate, wait for my new command!”

Benardo roared.

No one understood better than he did just how terrifying Bai Fu was. Her terror didn’t lie solely in her power—it was also in that monstrous growth rate.

For the Truth Society, for the President—even if it meant his body shattered into a thousand pieces or being burned to ash—he had to kill Bai Fu today. He could not let her escape, or the consequences would be unimaginable!

The scolded assistant trembled as he agreed. All he could hope now was that those Espers could step up and take Bai Fu out quickly.

Though they could evacuate before the base exploded and survive, doing so would doom them to a life of wandering, turning them into a roving army.

While the Truth Society was mobilizing, Bai Fu was still playing hide-and-seek with the high-level Espers in Zone A. She had burned through dozens of Prayer Cards before managing to kill one high-level Esper who had stumbled upon her—just before the others could surround her.

It was all thanks to Hei Fu drawing a great deal of attention, and the unexplained power outage in the main base. Otherwise, no matter how fast she was at killing, she likely would have already been surrounded.

“While Hei Fu is causing such chaos, I need to find a way to regroup with Yulia and then get out of here.”

Once she learned the Truth Society President had only left behind a doppelgänger in the base, Bai Fu abandoned the idea of continuing her rampage here.

There was no need to fight it out now—she could simply wait for reinforcements from factions like the Railway Guild and come back later.

Crossing a pitch-black corridor, Bai Fu headed toward the light dot on the map representing Tiny Hei Fu. Her high agility and the movement-silencing effect of Moon Veil made her glide through the darkness like a fish in water.

Halfway there, she suddenly received a message from Su Li.

[Three pieces of news—all good ones. Which do you want first?]

Bai Fu replied with an angry emoji.

Su Li: [Alright, alright, no suspense. First, the first wave of reinforcements will soon arrive at the Truth Society’s main base.]

Bai Fu: [That fast? Can you guys teleport?]

Su Li: [Just a commando unit. When they got the order, they happened to be just a few hundred kilometers away. They set out an hour ago—should arrive in about thirty minutes.]

Bai Fu: [Definitely good news. What about the other two?]

Su Li: [The four nations have reached an agreement and established a central command. A full-scale encirclement of the Truth Society’s main force is underway. If all goes well, it won’t be long before you hear news of the main force being crushed.]

Bai Fu’s lips twitched. Good news for Su Li, maybe—not necessarily for her. If the main force was defeated, the Truth Society President might return.

Su Li: [The last good news—I've finished investigating the person you asked me to look into. I can’t believe it. The guy lived over a hundred years ago. Luckily, he appeared in a newspaper back then, or I wouldn’t have found anything. I’ve sent you the data—take your time.]

Bai Fu only gave it a quick glance.

The man in the photo looked utterly unremarkable, but he had an extraordinary identity and an extraordinary end.

He had once been a hero for fun, lacking significant powers. He had given a few interviews and then, one day, vanished.

Since then, aside from the newspaper that interviewed him, there was no trace left of his existence in the world.

That’s just how the world was—among the teeming masses, who could know another’s ending?

Bai Fu opened the quest interface and clicked submit on the entry for [The Origin of the Truth Society].

[You have completed the mission [The Origin of the Truth Society], and earned 300,000 XP, +1.5% Storyline Exploration on Origin Star.]

[Hidden objective—completing the Memory Fragment from the Mutant Uprising at Psionic Research Institute No. 1 Subdivision—achieved. Additional reward: 300,000 XP, Blank Memory Fragment ×1 (usable in the Faction Interface).]

[The next quest will be triggered based on your choices when facing the Truth Society President.]

“As expected.”

Bai Fu shook her head slightly.

The person in the Memory Fragment had once been the President of the Truth Society.

A single quest gave a 1.5% storyline exploration boost and a Blank Memory Fragment—rewards not to be scoffed at. But the better the reward, the more she feared the Truth Society President.

Closing the game interface, Bai Fu encountered several ambushes on her way to Yulia—massive fireballs, annoying gravity control. Fortunately, her superior skills let her bypass every trap and obstacle until she finally found Yulia.

“Where’s that doppelgänger you summoned?”

Tiny Yulia often stayed beside Bai Fu, so Yulia knew well the connection between Bai Fu and Hei Fu.

“Still buying time. Thanks to her, let’s hurry up and get out of here.”

Bai Fu decisively scooped Yulia up again and dashed toward the edge of the base.

Now that large portions of Zones C and A had been destroyed, there was no need for her to deliberately look for a path—she could simply charge upward directly.

……

“Report to the Minister, another trace of Bai Fu has been discovered!”

Bai Fu and Hei Fu had been causing chaos in the base for quite a while now. The Truth Society had more or less figured out the situation: there actually weren’t that many intruders in the base—at most, it was just two Bai Fus. All the other “people” were summons from the two of them.

“Find a way to hold her off for ten minutes!”

Benardo was burning with rage. His chest heaved violently, and it took several seconds before he issued the second command.

“Everyone prepare to gather in the secret passage.”

They had been fighting for so long, yet still hadn’t taken down that black-haired Bai Fu. At this point, it had become extremely difficult to eliminate the two Bai Fus in a short time. He couldn’t be sure when Bai Fu’s large reinforcements would return, so maybe it really was time to prepare to blow up the base and bury Bai Fu with it.

After ending the call, Benardo stared at a photo on the wall for a long while before taking some special documents and leaving the office.

His fingers tapped rapidly on the terminal. With something this serious happening, he had to inform the President. If the President were to learn about the situation in the base first from the Gene Primordials or the Railway Guild, it could deal a major blow to morale.

Benardo typed out a lengthy report and sent it. All that was left was to wait for the President’s reply before detonating the main base.

He waited for five minutes—and the President replied with just a few words.

【Wait for my return】

“What?”

Seeing those few words, Benardo froze.

This wasn’t the kind of reply that should appear at a time like this. A bad feeling suddenly crept into his heart.

Meanwhile, in a small base seventy kilometers from the capital city of the Gene Primordials, Haidu, the President of the Truth Society—who had brought the main force here an hour and a half ago—wore an expression darker than ever.

“Truly unexpected. The outside world had many theories about your identity. Some thought you were a reclusive martial arts prodigy. Others suspected you were a defector general from the Old Republic. But no one imagined that you were one of the people who escaped from the Psionic Research Institute back then.”

In a classically styled drawing room, a man squinted with a smile.

If Bai Fu or the Player were present, they would immediately recognize him as one of the five cover figures on the subpage for Origin Star in Version 1.2’s update preview.

The President of the Truth Society let out a furious roar and charged forward.
