Who Made Her an NPC?!

Chapter 121 : The True Succubus, Main Story Controller Bai Fu

Chapter 121 : The True Succubus, Main Story Controller Bai Fu

Chapter 121: The True Succubus, Main Story Controller Bai Fu

After receiving Bai Fu's procurement notice, Gao Yuan swiftly took action and hauled a massive stone over with a vehicle by the third day.

Bai Fu instructed him to move the stone to the plaza and told the stonemason who came along to start carving right away. Once the monument was erected, the adjacent area could accommodate an even larger statue of her.

From now on, as long as Players saw this monument and her statue, they would recall the grand event of the Players collectively building a city. This was definitely a more memorable iconic moment than hanging Cedric from a streetlamp.

Hanging from a streetlamp was like a tornado—its impact came swiftly and faded quickly. But this event was different. It was one worthy of being recorded in the history of Players of Beyond the Stars.

Bai Fu believed that even ten years later, Players would still clearly remember this event.

As more events like this occurred, the name Bai Fu would become a collective memory shared by this generation of gamers.

【Beyond the Stars cannot lose Bai Fu, just like the 3D Zone cannot lose Tifa!】

Bai Fu watched the gradually taking-shape monument with satisfaction.

With the monument and statue settled, there were two more things she needed to do.

The first was to enhance protection for the core members of the Garden of Silence.

Following the launch of version 1.2, with the official promotion of her character, the opening of Challenge Instances, and her plan to release more Main Quests, it was foreseeable that more Players would pour into the Goli Desert.

At such times, it was inevitable that some wary individuals might show up to cause trouble.

Bai Fu herself wasn't afraid, nor were the Players, but Anya and Old Nissen were different.

After being severely injured by the Truth Society, Old Nissen's Stats had significantly declined, barely reaching the current average level of Players in the Garden of Silence. As for Anya, there was even less to say. Although Old Nissen guided her training as if she were his granddaughter, a month or two simply wasn’t enough time for significant improvement.

Out of safety concerns, Bai Fu temporarily reassigned them all to the Psionic Research Institute No. 2 Subdivision, where they would work until the situation stabilized.

The defense level of the No. 2 Subdivision was extremely high, and under normal circumstances, no one would venture there. If the Eye of the Dark Moon detected any unfamiliar presence, there was an eighty to ninety percent chance it meant trouble—no hesitation, just take them out.

The second matter was card gambling.

During her recent days back at Shelter Number 11, Bai Fu had earned another one million XP. She wasn’t in a rush to level up; instead, she planned to invest the XP into Skill levels and acquiring Prayer Card Blueprints. When it came time to fight, she could level up and boost her Stats in one go.

New Prayer Card Blueprints would both enhance her strength and provide her with more items to sell to Players.

“Let’s first try to synthesize a special Summon Card that can assist in making Prayer Cards.”

The number of Players in the Garden of Silence was growing rapidly, and so was the demand for Prayer Cards.

At this stage, Bai Fu and Hei Fu, running at full capacity, could still manage the supply. But if the Player base doubled again, even if the two of them hand-crafted until their hands smoked, they still couldn’t meet the demand.

Not that her hands would literally smoke—she had far too many other uses for them.

“My turn, draw a card!”

Bai Fu began pouring XP into the Targeted Synthesis function.

【Synthesis Failed】*N

After burning over 400,000 XP, she finally heard the prompt sound indicating successful synthesis.

【Synthesis Successful. You have obtained [Generic Card·Tiny Hei Fu]】

【Tiny Hei Fu】: Summons a Tiny Hei Fu True Spirit. You may command it to carry out tasks within its capabilities.

Tiny Hei Fu and Tiny Bai Fu were identical in appearance except for hair color, but their functions were worlds apart.

Tiny Bai Fu’s limbs couldn’t perform any complex work, so she could only serve as a humanoid scout or a self-propelled bomb. Tiny Hei Fu, however, lacked scouting and self-detonation abilities, but its limbs could bend like a human’s, albeit slowly.

That was what “Tiny” was like.

Tiny Hei Fu’s HP was 300. Even without taking damage, her HP would gradually decline over time. When it reached zero, she would vanish.

Clearly, Tiny Hei Fu was suited for use as a meat shield and manual labor.

Bai Fu immediately commanded Hei Fu to produce a batch of Tiny Hei Fu, then sent them into the “Hei Fu Prayer Card Manufacturing Factory” to work themselves to the bone.

Watching the Tiny Hei Fu sitting earnestly at the factory desks crafting various Prayer Cards, she felt deeply satisfied.

Although Hei Fu could only control a limited number of Tiny Hei Fu at once, this cap wasn’t fixed—it would rise as Hei Fu’s Stats improved. So, for the time being, Bai Fu didn’t need to worry about failing to meet Player demand.

Excellent, this was exactly what she needed!

Bai Fu then poured XP into synthesizing a second card.

This time, she aimed for an offensive Prayer Card. After spending another 300,000 XP, she successfully obtained a 【Generic Card·Void Energy Orb】.

Upon use, she could summon a Void Energy Orb, which would automatically target and attack the designated enemy. Each hit would deal base damage equal to (Inspiration*1). Due to card limitations, she could summon up to five Void Energy Orbs. Each orb had 500 HP, and upon depletion, it would disappear. The maximum duration was five minutes.

From its effect, the Void Energy Orb resembled a drone—a highly effective supplementary offensive tool for her.

Whether suppressing Boss output or clearing small mobs, it served well.

Bai Fu was quite pleased.

Her only regret was being limited to summoning five Void Energy Orbs. Otherwise, she could scatter a pile of them in battle, whip out a folding chair, cross her legs, sip tea, and let Tiny Hei Fu massage her shoulders and feet while laughing as the opponent drowned in despair surrounded by the Void Energy Orbs.

“Precise and elegant—this is the life!”

Bai Fu suddenly felt that being a Psionic Illustrator was a profession both prosperous and promising.

With just one day left before the version went live, the official Promotional Video for version 1.2 finally launched.

Compared to version 1.1, version 1.2 didn’t add much in terms of features, but Player anticipation was far higher. The reason was simple—version 1.2 was a plot-centric version.

After stumbling through version 1.0 and groping around in version 1.1, the Main Storyline of each Beginner Planet would now advance significantly in 1.2. More new Main Quests would appear before Players, who could now compete in them. As their levels rose, they could unlock more Skills and explore new playstyles for their Main Class.

How could one not look forward to such a version?

The final Promotional Video for version 1.2 focused tightly on this theme, featuring highlight scenes of key 1.1 characters and Players, all set to an epic soundtrack to build excitement for the update’s launch.

As a major figure on Origin Star, Bai Fu made three appearances in the new trailer.

The first was hanging from a streetlamp, the second was unleashing a barrage to shoot down Carlisle’s helicopter, and the third was directing Players to construct in the Goli Desert—her screen presence was maxed out.

However, Bai Fu was keenly aware that this wasn’t the time for pride.

As the storyline advanced, she was gradually acquiring rivals.

Lumia, one of the protagonists of the technology-themed planet and the officially appointed mentor for the Gunner class, had drawn a massive following with her dazzling combat style.

Meruru, one of the protagonists from the Psionic Planet, had a healing-type ability. Because of her outstanding appearance, kind heart, and her continuous protection and blessings for the Players, she was deeply loved by the community.

Bai Fu casually browsed the community and quickly identified a number of NPCs who already had a dedicated base of supporters.

These NPCs weren't nearly as popular as her at present, but one mustn't forget—they were originally main characters, equipped with rich background settings and dramatic main storylines. Their ability to gather popularity was exceptionally fast. Once the interstellar phase began, it was inevitable that a bunch of NPCs with outrageous backstories would pop up and vie with her for attention.

Thus, Bai Fu dared not relax. She was determined to crush all these challengers into kneeling submission!

She wouldn’t just be the top Warden of Beyond the Stars, she’d be the number one Succubus of Beyond the Stars too!

The fake succubus: relies on looks and lewdness.

The true succubus: relies on looks, plot and quests, classes, skills...

【Version 1.1 already featured many NPCs beginning to shine, showing their charm. With the multi-threaded story progression of version 1.2, even more intriguing NPCs are expected to debut—let’s look forward to it!】

【As a member of the Garden of Silence, I’m especially excited to see what new form Fu Fu will take in the upcoming version. The officials have now personally confirmed that Fu Fu is one of the many protagonists of Origin Star. I wonder what surprises the new version of Fu Fu will bring us. Feel free to comment below!】

The new version preview video released by Digging Girl triggered massive discussion among Players.

【Wish granted, new version Fu Fu switches to black stockings】

【No black, I want white】

【Rather than hope for that, I’m more curious whether the new version will reveal more about Fu Fu’s true identity】

【I bet Fu Fu is the Sovereign of the Shadowed Night. If I’m wrong, I’ll eat sh*t】

【Here comes the freeloader!】

Seeing these comments, Bai Fu chuckled.

All she could say was that the Players’ imagination was still far too lacking. Although she wouldn’t wear black stockings, she would offer Players “benefits” in other ways.

First lure them in with benefits—then slowly “slaughter” them!

At the very moment version 1.2 went live, Bai Fu issued a new Faction Quest titled 【Origin of the Truth Society】 to all Garden of Silence Players. This quest tasked them with investigating the identity of the Truth Society’s president. In addition, she shared a new Main Quest side-branch titled 【The Would-be Savior】 Side Branch 2: 【Another Psionic Prototype】 with Players who had high Reputation.

Both quests were linked to the Truth Society—in essence, a disguised reminder to the Players that one of the main targets of the Garden of Silence in the new version was the Truth Society!

Players bombarded with the quests were stunned.

“Damn, this is the new version?”

Back in version 1.1, they had already received Side Branches 3 and 4 of the Regional Main Quest 【Watcher’s Lament】 from Bai Fu. Now they were getting two more new quests. In terms of narrative content, they were absolutely stomping on other factions.

Though they couldn’t participate in high-level boss fights yet, those bosses weren’t something they could tackle at their current stage anyway. Just following behind Bai Fu to enjoy the story and collect base rewards was already a huge gain.

Patrick Star: “Time to climb the rankings in the new version!”

Digging Girl, Calamity Dragon: “Let me check if the shop has new Prayer Cards. It’s been forever since I had new material for review videos.”

Convert to My Fu: “Fu Fu, my Fu Fu, I can see you again.”

Sword Qi Soaring: “Our Iron Rain Guild is the true number one of the Garden of Silence!”

Hei Si: “Sword Qi Soaring is full of crap. If you want to join a guild, join Loyalty Hall. Big Bros here are taking new Players through the newly released Challenge Instances!”

Just as Players were eagerly exploring the Garden of Silence to see what the new version had brought, many noticed that a new Instance button had appeared in the faction interface.

【Exclusive Faction Instance?】

【There’s actually something like this? Let me see】

【Bagaros? Wait, isn’t that the battle where Fu Fu turned on the Genetic Prototype?】

【No way, I’ve always regretted not experiencing that part of the story myself. I didn’t expect it to be turned into an instance. Awesome】

【Hey look, there’s a new instance!】

After a few shouts, all Garden of Silence Players who were online became aware of the Bagaros instance. Even Players under level 11 were paying attention now.

The reason was simple—upon discovering the instance, Sword Qi Soaring and Hei Si both immediately declared they would claim the first clear record.

Most Players knew these two were sworn rivals. Hearing that they were racing for the first clear, many stopped doing quests just to see who would have the last laugh.

Drama—after all, most people loved to watch it unfold.

Bai Fu was secretly watching too.

The more fiercely Sword Qi Soaring and Hei Si competed for the first clear, the more publicity her instance would get. More attention meant more Players would attempt to clear the instance, which in turn meant more profit and experience for her.

Charge, Sword Qi Soaring (Hei Si)! You wouldn’t want to be surpassed by Hei Si (Sword Qi Soaring), would you?

Then move it!

Sword Qi Soaring and Hei Si indeed took action immediately. They both rallied top Players from their respective guilds. Especially Sword Qi Soaring—he was holding in a bellyful of rage this time.

Bagaros Base?

That was the place where he tried to switch sides and ended up getting captured and turned into a lab experiment. Today, he had to obliterate it!

In truth, the Iron Rain Guild was at a bit of a disadvantage. Due to past internal disagreements, some of their members were still in the Genetic Prototype faction, including some high-level veterans.

But Sword Qi Soaring didn’t have time to pull those members back. After entering the instance with his newly assembled squad, he was surprised to discover that during the loadout phase, they could actually purchase items from the shop. This shop even sold Skills and Class Knowledge Books that weren’t available in Anya’s Mysterious Shop.

“Flashing Light, Radiance, Moon Veil—generic Skills usable as long as you have Qi. This is obviously a god-tier set of Skills.”

Sword Qi Soaring gritted his teeth. So what if it cost experience points? To boost his power, to grab the first clear—buy!

Ding ding ding.

Watching the in-game prompts pop up on her backend screen, Bai Fu beamed.

The first step was complete. Now she could lie back and count her XP.

This time, she would ascend to the summit, max out all her Skills, and show the world what a true World Boss—Complete Bai Fu—really looked like!
