Chapter 378: Gaining His Trust Is Extremely Difficult

Chapter 378: Gaining His Trust Is Extremely Difficult

Someone guided her, accompanied her upstairs, because she was pregnant, Mr. Lancaster had specifically instructed to always ensure her safety.

So when Faye Turner went upstairs, the person behind her was anxious, afraid that something might go wrong.

Actually, Faye is a calm person. She held onto the railing and walked steadily, step by step. As long as no one deliberately sets her up, she won’t have any issues.

Upstairs, at a bedroom door with a large terrace, the door was closed.

The two attendants guarding the entrance saw Faye and quickly greeted her, "Hello, madam!"

"Hello, I’d like to go in and see my father." Her voice was gentle, accompanied by a smile.

"Certainly." The two quickly turned and opened the door.

The expansive room was simply yet warmly decorated.

In sight were two healthcare professionals in lab coats, who were inside meticulously caring for Caleb Lancaster.

As usual, Caleb Lancaster was sitting in the wheelchair, head tilted, only visible from the back.

Faye stepped forward.

The healthcare professionals saw her and respectfully greeted, "Hello, madam."

"Thank you for your hard work. You can leave for now; I’ll stay with my dad for a while." Her eyes were bright, her smile gentle.

"Alright." The healthcare professionals wrapped up quickly and then left.

Faye listened as the footsteps faded away and heard the door close, but she did not lock it.

Because she knew it was very safe here; no one would come in without her permission.

In the vast master bedroom, the air was fresh, and Faye was about three meters away from the man in the wheelchair.

The wheelchair rested at the junction of the terrace and the bedroom, warm sunlight spilled over the man, presenting a scene of peaceful years.

His clothing was simple in style but custom-made, the dark blue suited his elder status.

Caleb Lancaster had his head tilted towards the window, showing no reaction from the time Faye entered until those two healthcare professionals left.

As though he was oblivious to external occurrences.

Faye was not in a rush to approach or hastily ask anything.

Despite the fact that this chance to interact with him was something she had imagined countless times and was very rare.

From a distance, just looking at him... Faye felt very complex, wondering how a man had endured twenty years.

He had sensations, he could stand, Faye trusted her judgment.

All these years, he had never stopped trying to save himself.

Time passed slowly...

In her mind, Faye recalled that evening with her grandfather, going to the collection room for a gift, inadvertently catching sight through the window.

That silhouette attempting to stand, tremblingly drawing the curtains.

Step by step, Faye stood before him, her tender gaze lightly fell on the man’s pale face, noticeably thinner than last time she saw him.

"Dad, I’m Faye Turner, Adrian Lancaster’s wife." She seriously, earnestly made her self-introduction.

Caleb Lancaster maintained his previous posture, seemingly oblivious to her words, without any reaction.

Faye’s gaze remained fixed on the man’s gaunt, pale face, his brows and eyes closely resembling Adrian Lancaster’s.

Even his lips resembled... despite being thin, even the earlobes were similar.

"Dad, you’re very safe here, all previous medications have been stopped." Faye gently said, knowing he could hear her.

Even being full of vigilance towards the outside world.

She assured him, "Everyone here is protecting you, wants to heal you; all are trustworthy."

The man still showed no reaction, his head tilted, just a soul-less shell, if not for weakly blinking, appeared truly lifeless.

Making Faye slightly doubt whether she had hallucinated seeing him stand that night?

But, she had studied all the medical records earlier, at least 80% were fabricated, as there were many inconspicuous loopholes.
