When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster

Chapter 311: He Kissed Her Again

Chapter 311: He Kissed Her Again

The dinner tonight was lavish, with a few more dishes than usual.

Grandpa had gotten up, and the atmosphere was much more relaxed and cheerful at the table.

Eliza Hayes surprisingly took the initiative to serve a bowl of soup to Faye Turner, "You’re pregnant, so you should drink more soup to nourish the amniotic fluid."

Adrian Lancaster was shocked, holding his chopsticks, and incredulously looked up, slowly turning his gaze to his mother.

"Thank you, Mom." Faye stood up to take it, a sweet smile on her face.

"Adrian, come, come, have a bowl too." Eliza served a bowl for her son, which left Adrian somewhat bewildered.

He didn’t say thank you; for quite a while, he was dazed and didn’t know where the problem lay.

It wasn’t until on the way home, as he was driving, that he got so distracted by the matter that he almost ran a red light!

He slammed the brakes, startling Faye, who clutched her belly and suddenly turned to look at him, "..." Her heart was in her throat.

Adrian himself didn’t know what was happening, but he refocused his wandering thoughts.

When the green light turned on, he eased the car forward and then parked by the riverbank.

Stopped next to her ’The Fairy Tale Nook’.

Adrian said nothing, and Faye was puzzled, turning to look at him, only to see him unbuckle the seatbelt, get out, and head straight for the riverside.

Holding onto the railing with both hands, he looked at the myriad lights on the other side of the river, standing against the wind.

That tall figure looked somewhat lonesome.

Faye sat in the passenger seat looking at him, unable to precisely grasp his feelings at the moment.

But she knew that the soup served by his mother was of crucial significance to him.

She also knew that Eliza’s changed attitude tonight had stirred up ripples in his heart.

She didn’t get out of the car, wanting to give him some time alone.

The window was down, and the cool early autumn breeze blew in, brushing against Faye’s face and ruffling her hair.

After a good ten minutes, Adrian still clutched the railing, gazing at the glistening river surface, attempting to suppress his inexplicable emotions.

Faye finally opened the car door, got out, and walked toward him, gently wrapping her arms around his waist from behind, giving him a gentle hug.

Adrian was slightly stunned, recalling his drifting thoughts.

He could feel her fingers clasp lightly at his abdomen, and her cheek gently resting against his back.

"Adrian, life is really getting better, bit by bit." Faye’s voice was filled with immense anticipation, "You should be happy."

At this moment, Adrian was filled with gratitude.

He let go of the railing, held her hand, gently pulling apart, then turned to face her, as she stood straight and looked up.

By the river, under the night wind, the moonlight was as gentle as water, and their eyes met.

"Thank you, Faye." This was a heartfelt thanks, he truly longed for motherly love.

His expression was gentle, the corners of his lips curved up, and the smile on his face was so pleasant.

The girl smiled back, "I want to ask you a question."

"Go ahead."

"Do you like me? Even if it’s... just a little bit." She gathered the courage to ask, looking at him with bright eyes, waiting for his answer.

Adrian didn’t respond immediately, his smile unfading, as he gently tucked a strand of her hair blown onto her face by the wind.

There was a hint of infatuation in his gaze.

In the dim light, she was indeed very beautiful, bearing some resemblance to Sienna.

But at this moment, in his eyes, she wasn’t a shadow of anyone else.

Adrian gently cupped her face, answering her question with a kiss.

She felt like she’d been fed a piece of candy, as if falling into a honey pot, wrapping her arms around his waist, closing her eyes to savor the kiss.

This night was incredibly gentle.

The moonlight was as tender as water, casting golden layers on the distant river.
