Chapter 801: Because of You, I Look Forward to Marriage (1)

Sheng Jiayu stood there completely stunned, the cold wind outside still howling, yet she felt none of it.

She watched with wide eyes as Mu Ke walked in, heard the sound of the door closing, and then felt herself being enveloped in a familiar embrace.

But this embrace wasn’t as warm as it used to be, carrying the chill from outside, piercingly cold, yet still his familiar scent.

Mu Ke only gave Sheng Jiayu a simple hug, then took her hand and led her inside, moving as naturally as if this were his own home.

It wasn’t until Mu Ke placed the things he was carrying on the dining table and took off his coat that Sheng Jiayu snapped back to reality. She gently pinched herself to make sure she wasn’t dreaming, then woodenly asked, "Why... are you back?"

Mu Ke’s face was a bit red from the cold, his words still carrying a chill: "I came to make dumplings for you."

What?

Sheng Jiayu was dumbfounded, watching Mu Ke open the food container he had brought. Inside were just two things, a pack of fresh dumpling wrappers and a bowl of prepared meat filling.

Mu Ke glanced at the time on his wrist: "There’s still time, wait for me a bit, it’ll be ready soon."

The man rolled up his sleeves and headed into the kitchen. Mu Ke’s speed at making dumplings was fast, and Sheng Jiayu stood at the doorway watching his back, finally realizing something belatedly.

Mu Ke had rushed back on New Year’s Eve, even bringing ingredients to make dumplings with her. Could it be because he saw what she posted on her social media?

It must be, otherwise how would this all be such a coincidence?

Sheng Jiayu slowly walked over and stood beside Mu Ke: "Did you... see my social media post?"

Mu Ke didn’t deny it, nodding: "Yeah."

"Did you also add Xue Lu on WeChat?"

"Yeah."

As expected!

Sheng Jiayu felt sweetness in her heart, but rationally, she knew it wasn’t right for Mu Ke to rush over like this. It was New Year’s Eve after all; he should be at home with his family.

"How did you manage to come over here like this? Did your family agree to it, or did you just do whatever you wanted again?"

Mu Ke paused his actions, turned to look at Sheng Jiayu, and without answering, he leaned in to kiss her forehead: "Be good, go wait for me outside."

Sheng Jiayu opened her mouth to say something, but Mu Ke had already turned back, continuing his dumpling-making with focus and care.

The dumplings Mu Ke made weren’t the best looking, but they were certainly the fastest.

Obediently, Sheng Jiayu went out to sit at the dining table. Not long after, she saw Mu Ke already setting a small pot to boil water, preparing to cook the dumplings.

Soon, the dumplings were ready, accompanied simply by a small dish of dipping sauce. Mu Ke placed the dumplings in front of Sheng Jiayu.

"Eating so late isn’t good for digestion, eat a little less, I’ll make more for you tomorrow."

Sheng Jiayu looked at the plump, succulent dumplings, still a bit dazed, swallowed, and looked at Mu Ke: "You really didn’t have to, I was just casually lamenting."

A faint smile appeared in Mu Ke’s handsome eyes: "I wanted to see you."

Sheng Jiayu said nothing more. After all, Mu Ke was already here; what was the point of being coy now? She couldn’t exactly make him take a flight back, could she?

Lowering her head, Sheng Jiayu picked up her chopsticks, grabbed a dumpling, blew on it, and put it in her mouth. The dumpling was fragrant, perfectly salted, with a hint of sour and spicy from the dipping sauce—absolutely delicious.

"Is it good?"

With her mouth full of dumpling, Sheng Jiayu couldn’t speak, only nodding vigorously.
