Because they weren’t in the same department and didn’t know each other’s situations well, the four girls chatted a bit and discovered that Qi Cheng and Bai Xue had it much easier on their side than they did. Though both were newcomers and interns, people over there didn’t treat them like they were just there for random tasks.
Tang Yanqi didn’t think much of it, merely assuming the departments were different.
After lunch, they returned to the office, and Tang Yanqi and Bai Bing continued to help the whole department with printing, copying, or entering documents. Although these tasks didn’t have much actual significance, when there were lots of small things to do, a person could still be kept busy.
By the time it was time to leave work, Tang Yanqi still had two documents she hadn’t finished entering.
"Tangtang, let me help you."
After finishing her tasks, Bai Bing stepped over to Tang Yanqi’s side. As soon as she spoke, they heard a slow, derisive comment from nearby: "Can’t even handle your own tasks, and you’re thinking of helping others?"
Both turned simultaneously to look at the speaker, only to see the person didn’t even glance at them, pulled out lipstick to touch up makeup, and then cast a contemptuous look their way before striding out with her bag.
Once the office was left with just Bai Bing and Tang Yanqi, Tang Yanqi asked, "Did you offend her somehow?"
Bai Bing shrugged, indicating she didn’t know.
Close to quitting time, Tang Yanqi received a message from Sheng Jianan telling her to wait for him so they could leave together.
Of course, she wouldn’t boldly go up to find him or wait outside for him now; she’d just work a bit of overtime and slip out when most people had already left, ensuring no one noticed.
"Bingbing, you go ahead; I’ll be done soon."
"Okay, I’ll leave then."
Bai Bing didn’t hesitate, having complete trust in Tang Yanqi’s abilities.
As she finished typing the last word, Tang Yanqi’s phone rang. She picked up the call while packing her bag and heading out.
Following Sheng Jianan’s instructions, Tang Yanqi went straight to the underground parking lot by elevator, found his car, opened the door, and got in.
Sheng Jianan leaned over to buckle her seatbelt, his gaze flickering over her. Tang Yanqi was wearing the outfit she bought the day they went to the mall.
It wasn’t particularly formal, but still had an Office Lady feel. Young Master Sheng raised his handsome brow slightly, amusement in his eyes.
Tang Yanqi felt uneasy under his gaze, glancing down at herself and touching her face, "What is it?"
Sheng Jianan lightly tapped her forehead with his finger, "All grown up."
"???"
Miss Tang looked puzzled, but Young Master Sheng gave her a "figure it out yourself" look before sitting up straight and starting the car to leave.
As the car drove out from the base of the Shengshi Group building, Tang Yanqi was still contemplating what Sheng Jianan meant earlier. Suddenly, she spotted Shen Yao standing by the roadside, seemingly waiting for a car with her phone in hand.
Shen Yao was positioned right where their car would pass by, making Tang Yanqi instinctively glance at Sheng Jianan. Though he assured her she should trust him and that she is his present, while Shen Yao is his past, Tang Yanqi had to admit she still felt a bit edgy.
The car made a turn and coincidentally stopped right in front of Shen Yao. Tang Yanqi’s heart tightened. Was Sheng Jianan inviting her into the car?
Her fingers instinctively tightened, a little girl’s slight jealousy spreading in her heart.
However, after several seconds passed and Sheng Jianan didn’t make a move, Tang Yanqi cautiously glanced at him again.
The man relaxed lazily against the seat, eyes focused straight ahead. Tang Yanqi also turned to look and realized her mistake.
The traffic light at the intersection ahead turned red, and it was merely a coincidence that the car stopped there.
