Chapter 364: It’s Not Easy to Be a Sheng Family Daughter-in-Law (Part 4)

When Tang Yanqi got out of the car, twenty minutes had already passed since Sheng Jianan’s landing time.

After paying the fare, Tang Yanqi quickly ran inside, looking at the bustling airport lobby. She pulled out her phone to call Sheng Jianan, uncertain if he had come out yet or if he had already left; making a call seemed more reliable.

As she took out her phone, even before dialing the number, Tang Yanqi spotted that familiar figure amidst the crowd.

Standing beside that familiar figure were Qiao Zi, Mrs. Sheng, and... Shen Yao.

The spot where Tang Yanqi stood was directly opposite an exit. It seemed like a big star was arriving today, and the area was crowded with fans. Amongst the crowd, Tang Yanqi saw Sheng Jianan with his arm around Mrs. Sheng’s shoulder, the two of them smiling about something.

Qiao Zi followed behind Sheng Jianan, and Shen Yao followed behind Mrs. Sheng, looking just like one big happy family.

Tang Yanqi withdrew her gaze, tightly pursed her lips, and still decided to make the call. Her eyes once again settled on the man in the distance.

She watched him take out his phone from his pocket, his voice coming through the call, "Hello?"

Tang Yanqi saw Sheng Jianan’s head swivel in the crowd a couple of times before he began striding towards her.

"Came to pick me up?"

Sheng Jianan, with his tall and long-legged frame, reached her in just a few strides after spotting Tang Yanqi, looking down with a smile.

It was still the familiar face. Images from the news Qi Cheng and the others had shown her earlier flashed in Tang Yanqi’s mind, bringing her a slight sense of relief. Although she didn’t know why Shen Yao was here, it must be a coincidence, right?

"Hmm."

Giving a soft acknowledgment, Sheng Jianan had already taken her hand, leading her towards the exit.

The car outside was already prepared. Mrs. Sheng and Shen Yao stood by the car door, seemingly waiting for them. Upon seeing Tang Yanqi, Mrs. Sheng smiled, "Yanqi, you’re here too? Jianan said you wouldn’t come to pick him up. You all need to communicate better; if you get separated, it would just waste time."

Tang Yanqi smiled without speaking, and Mrs. Sheng didn’t mind. She turned to Qiao Zi and said, "Assistant Qiao, you’ve worked hard accompanying Jianan on his trip. Take the driver’s car back first; Jianan can drive us."

"Yes, ma’am."

"Come on, Yaoyao, get in the car."

Mrs. Sheng called Shen Yao into the car. Finally, she smiled and took Tang Yanqi’s hand, "Yanqi, I’ll sit in the back with Yaoyao, you sit up front, closer to Jianan."

Sheng Jianan had already opened the front passenger door for her. Once the four of them settled in, they set off, exiting the airport highway, and Tang Yanqi realized they were headed to the family home. She opened her mouth to say something but hesitated with Mrs. Sheng still in the back, and then closed it again.

Mrs. Sheng had come to pick up Sheng Jianan. With Mr. Sheng at the family home, it was normal for Sheng Jianan to have a meal there after returning from a trip.

Tang Yanqi turned to look out the window. Sheng Jianan focused on driving while, in the back, Mrs. Sheng and Shen Yao chatted happily about new luxury brand releases, seemingly enjoying the conversation very much.

The car stopped at the family home’s doorstep. Mrs. Sheng had already opened the car door herself, linking arms with Shen Yao as they walked inside. Tang Yanqi was about to open the door to get out when a hand suddenly grasped the buckle of her seatbelt.

She turned her head to meet a pair of dark, smiling eyes, the playful glint in the man’s gaze was unmistakable, inexplicably causing her to blush.
