Chapter 99-Gone

"Rosa, you're making a mistake. This won't end well for you. Let Kai go, and we might help you."Rosa's grip tightened on Kai, her knuckles were turning completely white. "Help me? You think I want your help? I don't need anyone. I don't want anyone. I want revenge and it will be quenched with blood. A life for a life. Say what? Isn't that a fair deal? "

But before anybody could react,sirens of the back up police cars echoed around the warehouse, their blue and red lights casting shadows across the dilapidated walls, indicating that the warehouse had been surrounded. Lea and Phill burst inside, accompanied by the heavily armed officers.

Rosa's face contorted at the sight ."Drop your weapons, all of you!" Rosa barked.She looked wild and her fear was infused with fury."Let me out safely, or I swear I'll kill this little brat on the spot before ending my own life!" The cops stood their ground, undeterred by her threats, guns pointing towards her head.

But Lea couldn't let them. She stepped forward, her face streaked with tears, her voice breaking as she pleaded, "Please, everyone, drop your weapons! Please, Rosa, take whatever you want, just don't hurt my child!"

Rosa's smirk widened into a twisted grin, her eyes gleaming with a mad delight. "Cry more, Lea. Beg more," she taunted, her voice dripping with malice. "I want to see you suffer. I want to see the pain in your eyes."

Jake tried to step in but Lea pushed him aside.Her sobs grew louder as her pleas turned more desperate. "Please, Rosa! I'm begging you! I'll do anything! Just spare Kai! He's just a child!"

" My baby was just a newborn when he died? He died because of his careless father. Don't you think your's deserves the same fate too, since they share the same father? " Lea crawled forward. " I didn't know, Rosa. I had no idea. My Kai had nothing to do with it. "Her body shocks with the intensity of her sobs.

Rosa's laughter rang out, high-pitched and maniacal. "You think I care about your tears? Your begging? This is what I live for, Lea. Seeing you broken, desperate, willing to do anything to save your precious son but helpless.You realise even your money can't help? "

The sight of Lea's despair seemed to fuel Rosa's insanity. She held Kai tighter, her nails digging into his skin, causing him to whimper in pain. "You see, Lea," she hissed, her voice low and dangerous, "I want you to feel the same helplessness I felt. The same fear. The same agony."

Phill stepped forward, his hands raised in a gesture of surrender. "Rosa, please, listen to reason.Let Kai go. Percy duped you.He ran away.We can help resettle your life. I promise if you let Kai go, we will not press any charges. "

The officers exchanged nervous glances, their fingers hovering over the triggers of their guns. The tension in the air was too thick like the smell of something burning.It was suffocating. Rosa's eyes opened wild, her body trembling with adrenaline as she breathed.

" Yes! I promise Rosa. We won't press any charges and we will give you enough money to start a new life. You have my words! " Jake tried to step forward.

But Rosa's madness had taken full control. With a swift, brutal motion, she jabbed Kai in the neck with the edge of her gun, causing him to cry out in pain. "Shut up!" she screamed, her voice shaking. "Just shut up, Jake!To hell with your promises and words. I gave you everything but you trampled over my heart. You left me bleeding with a wound that never healed."

" I am sorry, Rosa! I am willing to make amends. Please.Tell me what you want me to do. " Jake begged but his eyes were glued to his son.

" No, Jake! You are not sorry. All you want is this one, " She dangled Kai and jabbed him in the chest. She enjoyed their collective gasp. Her twisted grin widened. "You deserve this. You deserve to lose what you love most." With a sudden, vicious motion, she pulled Kai's head back, exposing his neck.

The officers shouted, their guns raised higher, but they were powerless to act. Lea's screams filled the air, her body collapsing in despair. "No! Please, Rosa! Please!"

Jake's eyes were wild with fear and rage. "Rosa, don't!" Rosa's face twisted with a cruel smile, her eyes locked on Jake's. "Goodbye, Jake," she whispered. And with that, she pressed the gun harder against Kai's neck, making him scream in pain,ready to shoot.

Just then a pair of hands grabbed her from the back and yanked her hands away. It was Phill. He had managed to creep from behind before he lunged forward, holding Rosa in his clasp.

A shot rang out.

Phill's body jerked forward as he held onto Rosa. His shirt started staining with a pool of crimson red. " No! " Lea gasped and Jake and she ran forward. He fell to the ground, still holding onto Rosa.

Rosa's grip on Kai loosed.Jake rushed forward, catching Kai as he fell.Jake held Kai tightly, tears streaming down his face. "It's over, buddy. Daddy's here. It's over."Lea collapsed to her knees beside Phill. She touched his chest where the blood had soaked him to the core, hands trembling, her lips quivering unable to utter a single word.

Phill finally let go of Rosa's body. It fell with a thud beside him as he opened his eyes. Lea and Jake gasped with relief as Phill sprang up and immediately turned his attention towards Kai.

Jake failed to notice because his attention was towards his brother but Kai was bleeding from under his ears. " Quick! We need to rush him to the hospital. " Phill pulled Jake up as they looked down at Rosa.

Rosa lay on the ground, blood pooling around her. Her eyes were wide open, but the madness had finally left them. "Jake... I'm ..." she whispered before her eyes closed for the last time.The officers moved in, securing the area and checking on Rosa, but it was clear she was gone.
