Chapter 89 -Desperate

" Lea, why did you come down all by yourself? Didn't I tell you not to get up and rest? You should not... " Jake ran towards her as she stumbled out of the door but he wasn't prepared for what greeted him.

His face turned to the other side as a hot red flush appeared on one of his cheeks. Lea slapped him with all her might and he stood there, speechless, staring. Mercy and Phill gaped at them as well but neither dared to move.

" Oh, please shut it! I have had enough of your bossing around. I am not going to take anymore of your nonsense. " She walked straight up to Phill who was watching them with his mouth wide open. Without warning she smacked her lips onto his and started kissing him like her life depended on it. Jake and Mercy thought their eyes were playing some trick but she continued kissing Phill, holding onto his shirt before ripping it apart, grappling his neck for support. " I should have done this right after I left you the first time. All that you and your family have brought me is pain and suffering. Why don't you just f*ck off and get the hell out of my life?Like you said ,this would have never happened if Kai wasn't your blood. He was taken because of your blood money. Now disappear from my life. All of you. " She was yelling on top of her voice as she shoved Phill back.

This time she ripped her drips as she hands bled but she didn't stumble. She walked towards the door with steady steps. The maid stood in the corner, sweating profusely as she witnessed another drama unfold before her eyes. " Don't just stand there and stare at me goddammit! Bring me my f*cking keys! " Lea roared as she stormed out of the house and went to the garage. The maid ran after her with the keys. She revved the engine up leaving a storm of dust behind her as she left.

She drove like her life depended on it. She didn't stop until she had driven five blocks away and then taken a sharp U-turn. She pulled up the car at the side as he fingers fumbled for her phone. She quickly dialled a number that she had scribbled from memory on a piece of paper. She prayed she memory was spot on this time.

The call went forth and someone picked up at the other end. " Please, let me talk to my Kai. I am right where you asked me to. I pissed Jake off while I came. There is no way I am being followed. Now, please please please let me talk to my son once. I will do everything that you say. I just need him safe. I just need to know he is safe. I will give you everything that I have. Please.... " She pleaded with her arms folded, begging as if the other person could see her from their end.

Her desperation was met with a mocking giggle. " Not so fast Lea, not so fast. This will be nice and slow. Like I want it. You are in no position for negotiations. You will do exactly what I tell you if you want your son breathing. Otherwise it will not take me much effort to send you a finger in a gift wrap instead of his clothes this time. " Lea leaped up on her seat in fright , almost dropping her phone. " No! Noooooo! Please no! Please don't hurt my baby. I will do exactly like you say. Please don't hurt him. " Lea could feel her voice cracking but she tried to maintain her composure. " Alright. I will have to get rid of this number right away. The cops might be tracking your number. I will send you my send number right now. Save it and call me from a phone booth this time. I will let you know exactly where you need to go from here. Keep driving. " Lea nodded, wiping her tears on her sleeve before hitting the accelerator again.

Phill was still reeling from the effect of that kiss. There might have been a million times that he had dreamt of it. A million times he fantasized over her lips. A million times that he stopped himself from actually tasting her lips when she slept like a baby beside him. A million times he had wondered how divine it would be. And it was. But never in his lifetime did he ever imagine it would be like this.

Jake seemed frozen on his spot. Mercy stared between her brothers unable to make sense of what she had witnessed. It had been several minutes since Lea had left but none of them could make the attempt of following her, she made sure of that. And then the sirens were heard again and the cops knocked at the gate.

" Where is your wife? " They lunged at Jake the moment they entered. " W.. Wife? " Mercy tried to make sense.

" I mean, Lea Sully, the mother... where is she. She was contacted by the kidnappers. Why weren't we informed? This could be dangerous. She is playing with fire. Satisfying the kidnappers doesn't guarantee the child's safety. We have plenty of chases like this. We are talking from experience here. She is putting both herself and the child in danger by excluding us. "

Everything fell into place as the spell from earlier was broken. Jake, Phill and Mercy ran towards the cop who understood they were clueless. " We have a recording from her conversation with the kidnapper. It's a good thing we were tapping both your and your... I mean Miss.Lea's calls, " he told Jake.
