The next morning, Lea fluttered her eyes open unable to make sense of her surroundings. When she tried to turn around, the back of her head throbbed making her realise why and where she had been taken. She tried to get up from her bed dragging the saline drip along with her. Phill entered just in time. " No! No! Lea! Stay in bed. "

" Stay in bed my foot! I cannot stay like this. I need to go look for him myself. It's been two whole days already. Enough of those useless detectives and cops. I will find my baby by myself. " Phill tried to grab her hands from the back in an attempt to stop her from ripping her saline channel open. Whether Lea had gained tenfold strength overnight or whether it was the power of a mother's love, nobody would know. She literally shoved Phill back on the bed but luckily Jake came inside just then and grabbed her hands. " Lea, stop it. We are all down in this. Alright. Please don't make things more difficult. Put that saline back on. You need it. I need you. Kai needs you. You are no good if you can't even stand on your feet. You have been out for an entire day. Do you have any idea how worried we all have been? "

Lea immediately went limp. " One entire day? " She scurried towards the table where the automatic calendar was, her eyes shooting up in horror. " What day is it? " She asked even though she was staring right at the date on the screen. " It's been three days, Lea. Three days since Kai has gone missing.None of us left this place. " Lea looked up at Jake's face properly this time. His eyes had dark shadows under them. It was clear he hadn't been sleeping. " Where is that... that ... " Lea fumbled as she meekly sat on the bed. " Kai's tshirt, you mean? I kept it safe. The cops say it was probably just a gimmick to scare us. The kidnappers are probably just testing the waters since this is a high profile case. They have been planning it for ages. The cops suspect there might be a gang operating. They knew everything about Kai. Probably his tie with our family as well. " Jake sat at the edge of the bed as Phill took Lea's hand in his and put the line back in after getting rid of the blood that had oozed up because of her pulling.

" Gang? " The sudden surge in Lea's strength left her extremely exhausted as she leaned back against the pillow. She looked between Phill and Jake. Both nodded without saying anything. " There was a death the night you fainted. " Phill said as he took the spot in front of Lea after getting done with her channel.

" Death? " Lea tried to sit up but her eyes darkened. She leaned back again. " Yes, death! Kai's nanny, Anna. She was involved in the kidnapping. She jumped from the roof and committed suicide right before she was about to get caught! "Lea felt like the sky fell down on her all over again. "Anna? No way! That's impossible! " Her heart was beating with double its normal beat.

" They might have planted Anna in your house keeping the kidnapping in mind.She was the one who had taken Kai outside that night and it seemed like Kai knew the hooded figure, who was captured in the footage. She was seen talking with the figure , Kai along with her. We cross checked the entry logs. Her card was used repeatedly. Even when she was supposedly inside the house. It's not a mere accusation. She was guilty. So much so that she decided to take her own life rather than own up. The only regret that remains, we should have nabbed her before she fell. She was breathing when they took her to the hospital. If only we could wring it out of her. If only we could get Kai's whereabouts before she fell... " Jake murmured.

Lea was beyond shocked and petrified. She had left her child with a predator. Day after day, month after month. Lea shuddered as the images of their happy faces flashed through her head. " Oh, Kai... come back home...Come back to Mamma! I can't take this any longer. "

She collapsed back on her bed. Phill left the room first. Jake lingered behind, hoping to give her some hope but failing to do so and running away, trying to prevent his own outburst.

Lea looked out of the window as the sun went down in the horizon and plunged everything into crimson red. She picked her phone up and Kai's face flashed in front of them screen. She kissed him and hugged the screen, tears rolling down endlessly.

Just then the phone vibrated and a notification popped up. Lea immediately opened it and found an encrypted message sent from an unknown number. Lea immediately opened it. The message was very short. Lea blinked repeatedly after reading it trying to process what it meant. She went back to read it again but the message disappeared. It seemed like it was meant to be read only once.

Lea immediately got up from her bed but she didn't fumble with her drip this time. She dragged it along with her towards the elevator that went down to the living space.
