Chapter 53 Snake

Going a little back in time (to the moment when Jake and Rosa had their confrontation in the Hospital corridor ) -

Jake grabbed Rosa by the arm and pulled her out into the hospital corridor, his face was a mix of anger and frustration. "Rosa, what is this nonsense?"

Rosa wrenched her arm free, glaring at him. "What the hell do you think you're doing, Jake? I'm pregnant with your child!"

Jake took a deep breath, trying to keep his voice steady. "Rosa, we slept together once, a few days ago. There's no way that kid is mine. You need to get an abortion." Rosa's eyes widened with shock and fury. "Are you serious? You want me to get rid of our baby? You're out of your mind!"

Jake's expression hardened.He wasn't having her nonsense."Listen, if you want to keep the baby, fine. But don't expect me to just take your word for it. Get a DNA test before you start pinning this on me."

Rosa's face twisted into a sneer. She was clearly not expecting that reaction from Jake. "Oh, I see. You're scared, aren't you? Scared that this will ruin your precious reputation."

Jake clenched his fists, his voice low and dangerous. "I'm not scared of anything, Rosa. But I'm not gonna let you blackmail me with a lie." Rosa laughed bitterly. "You think you can just walk away from this? I'm gonna make sure everyone knows what kind of man you really are."

Jake shook his head. "Do what you want. But until there's proof, don't expect anything from me." Rosa stepped closer to Jake, her voice trembling with a mix of anger and desperation.She knew she was losing her game. She had to step up. She was pouring all out in the performance."Jake, you can't do this to me. I was there for you when you were a nobody. I stood by you through thick and thin, through all your ups and downs. You owe me!"

Jake was silent for a moment, the words hitting him hard. He looked away, his jaw tightening. "Rosa..."

Rosa saw her opening and pressed harder. "Remember the nights I stayed up with you, helped you through all your crap? And now you want to just throw me away like I meant nothing to you?"Jake took a deep breath, his eyes glaring as he looked back at her. "You think I don't know why you did all that? You think I'm stupid?Well, I was.But things are getting clearer. "

Rosa blinked, taken aback. "What are you talking about?"

Jake's voice was cold and cutting. "I see it now. You did all that because you wanted something from me. That's why you sneakily forced me to sleep with you, hoping to trap me."

Rosa's face twisted in anger. "You ungrateful bastard! I did everything for you out of love!"

Jake shook his head. "Love? If anyone was there for me through everything, it was Lea. Not you. You were just playing your own game." Rosa's eyes blazed with fury. "You son of a bitch! You’ll regret this, Jake. I swear."

Jake turned away, his voice calm but firm. "We'll see about that. Now get out of my way."

As Jake turned to head back to Lea's ward, Rosa pulled out her phone with a sly smile. "We'll see about that,Jake.We definitely will."

She dialed a number, her voice dripping with malice. "Hello? Yes, this is Rosa, your favourite girl. Yeah,I am fine. Just checking on my old friend.Yeah.... I've got some juicy news for you. The new rising star, Jake, is at the hospital with a pregnant patient. Trust me, you don't want to miss this....Which hospital?Don't worry darling,I got you covered. I am sending the location right now. " She giggled and flirted as she talked, swaying her hips out of the main door.

Minutes later, the hospital gates were swarming with reporters and cameras, the staff struggling to maintain order. The guards rushed with additional security.Rosa watched from a distance, satisfaction mingling with impatience as the chaos unfolded.

"Come on, come on," she muttered to herself. "Get through to him already."One of the reporters finally managed to push past the security.

"Excuse me, miss. Do you know where we can find Jake? We heard he's here with a pregnant patient."

The staff refrained from any comments and maintained their professionalism.

Rosa paced back and forth, her impatience growing. "Why can't they get to him? This is supposed to be my moment!"

Her phone rang, and she answered quickly. "Did you get anything?"

"Not yet," the voice on the other end replied. "Security is tight.We might need to surround the building before they use a back exit! "Rosa clenched her fists, her eyes narrowing. "You better. This is far from over."

Just then, the hum of an engine caught her attention. Rosa's eyes widened as she saw a grand limousine gliding smoothly into the hospital complex. The sleek black vehicle commanded everyone's attention, its presence demanding respect.

Time seemed to slow as the limousine rolled to a stop. The sun glinted off its polished surface, making it gleam like a jewel. All cameras swung in unison, lenses focusing on the unexpected arrival.

The chauffeur stepped out first, moving with practiced grace to open the rear door. A high-heeled shoe emerged, followed by a slender leg. As Mercy stepped out of the limousine, the world seemed to hold its breath. She was the epitome of elegance, her dress clinging to her curves, her hair cascading in perfect waves.She looked every bit the heiress that she was not the newbie movie star, who barely had much media presence.

Reporters and hospital staff alike were momentarily stunned. Murmurs rippled through the crowd as they recognized her.

"Is that... Miss Mercy?"

"What's she doing here?"

"I can't believe it."

Rosa's jaw dropped, her phone slipping from her fingers. She stood there, speechless, as Mercy adjusted her sunglasses and surveyed the scene with a calm, authoritative gaze.

The reporters, snapping out of their daze, began to swarm towards her, questions and cameras at the ready.Mercy didn't flinch. She moved with a deliberate grace, each step echoing her confidence. She glanced briefly at Rosa, her expression unreadable, before turning her attention back to the hospital entrance.
