Jake's POV
" Of course you get that job, whether you like it or not. " I wasn't even lying. Who better than Phil to look after my little one. I knew he would always have his back, no matter what.
Phill chuckled before turning around. " By the way, did you sign the papers before coming inside? " He asked me and it took me off guard. " Papers? What papers? "
" Discharge papers. Didn't they tell you before you entered? " He made a disappointed face and looked out of the door even though he could see no one. " These incompetent workers. They can't get one thing... "
" Discharge papers? Who is getting discharged? I thought you needed around a week to recover. " Lea interrupted looking straight at Phill. " I am not getting discharged. You are! " Phill pointed at Lea but she stood up. " Me? Oh, alright. Makes sense. "
Phill turned his gaze back to me and said, " Get the paper works done and take her home. I think I need to get some sleep... "
" Take who home? " Lea stood face to face with Phill and she looked scary, ready for a fight. " I am not going anywhere without Kai. " Phill looked straight into her eyes. " Lea, you can't stay here. Go home with him. "
I saw Lea's lips move but nothing came out of them. She looked like her legs were turning into jelly. The two of them kept staring at each other and it looked like they were having some nonverbal conversation. A conversation I was not a part of and it made me really uncomfortable.
" But I need to... " Words finally tumbled out of her mouth as she raised her hands, protesting.But Phill suddenly grabbed her hands and held them close. "You need to go home with Jake. You need to get out of this place. Weren't you complaining you have been around this place too long. " I could see a hint of a smile as he joked but Lea wasn't smiling. " I will be here with, Kai. I thought you trusted me around your boy. " He kept holding her hands as he spoke. He wasn't letting go.
" Phill his right. Let me take you home.You can come back in the evening. Kai will still be under the effects of sedatives. There is nothing you can do... " I walked right between them and took Lea's hands from him. I saw him scoff. Lea looked at me helplessly. " Alright! " That's all she said.

Within the next few hours we got everything sorted. She kissed Kai's head for the zillionth time before I had to pick her up and literally carry her out of there. " Please look after my baby! " She yelled back at Phill with teary eyes. It was absurd. It felt like I was kidnapping his wife.
She calmed down once we were inside the elevator. But she kept looking down at the floor. I grabbed her chin and forced it up. " Kai will be fine. We will come back in the evening. " She nodded.
I took her to my car and helped her get in. I in the driver's seat and took the road that went towards her place.
Right after taking the first turn Lea suddenly grabbed my hands and started yelling." Stop....stop...stop.Jake stop the car. Where are you going? " She yelled, forcing me to drift and pull up by the side walk.
" Lea, what's wrong with you. I could have almost crashed into that red car. Why, where do you think I am taking you? To your freaking home, Lea. " I wasn't angry at her but my mind was a little unsettled after seeing Phill with her. And it came all out like that. It shouldn't have. " I am sorry, Lea. I shouldn't have yelled. What happened. Tell me. "
" I want to go home, Jake. I feel very tired. " She replied looking at the U-Turn, up ahead. " That's where I was taking you but you stopped me in the middle of the street. " I replied, really confused.
" This is not the right way... " She spoke so soft, I almost felt like she didn't speak at all. " This is, Lea. Straight up ahead. Are you feeling alright? How can you forget the way to your own house... "
Her fist crashed on the dashboard. " I don't want to go to a house, Jake. Weren't you listening? I want to go back home. To our home... " Her voice trailed off, her eyes became distant. I wasn't sure if she meant what I thought she meant. Because honestly it was out of the blue. " You still have the place, right? Or did you sell it off? " There was no mistake. She meant what I thought she meant.
" You want to go to our old apartment? " I asked not to confirm but I wanted her to talk. She wasn't talking. She was having one outburst after another. But she nodded instead of answering my question. " You want to go our old place? Right now? Are you sure? " I wanted her to speak.
" Yes, Jake.... Please take me home. " She said without looking at me, then sunk back in her seat closed her eyes and pressed her temple with her hands. I leaned forward to check on her. " Lea, does your head hurt? Are you feeling pain... " I tried to grab her hand but she took them away from me.
" My head is fine, Jake. But my heart is not. Just drive. Please. I need to go there. " I didn't have the guts to say anything anymore. I got back behind the steering wheel, eyes sharp on the road and drive towards the U-turn.
I had no idea why she wanted to go there or what she was feeling but I sure as hell could feel the adrenaline surge through my whole body. That place wasn't anything less than a shrine for the two of us. It was the place where we built a nest, the birthplace of our dreams, the place where Kai was concieved.
