Chapter 733: Chapter 735: Ending Three "Brother, sister-in-law," Beibei was the first to spot Shitou and Shanyue coming in.
"You’re back." Seeing her son and daughter-in-law return, Li Min also smiled and greeted them, "Have you guys eaten yet? Your dad made chive pockets; come and try them."
Shanyue and Shitou’s eyes lit up. They had only eaten halfway at the Xi family’s place, and now, seeing the chive pockets on the table, they both felt hungry again.
"Dad, you made these? Since when can you cook?" Shitou was very surprised. His dad had been in the army for years, and he had eaten meals made by his mom, but never by his dad.
"Eat, and stop asking so many questions." Feiyang was clearly in a good mood, not expecting his sudden attempt at making chive pockets to taste quite good.
"Delicious," Shanyue praised sincerely after taking a bite.
"Yes, I think it’s very tasty too," Beibei nodded repeatedly, wondering whether or not to pack a couple for Hexuan to try.
Li Min laughed, "He did do a good job, but let’s not praise him too much; your dad is getting lost in the compliments."
The men of the Gao family rarely cooked, at most helping out occasionally. Nowadays, they had an auntie who cooked well, and the female masters of the house only occasionally cooked when they felt like it.
As Beibei ate, she silently packed some up, and her family chuckled at her actions. Beibei, unfazed, said openly, "I’m heading back to the army tomorrow. I have a date with Hexuan today; I’ll bring some for him to try."
"You’re not worried I might not like it?" Feiyang said.
"Aren’t you willing to let your future son-in-law try your cooking?" Beibei countered.
"Go on, go on, you haven’t even married him yet and you’re already twisting my arm," Feiyang waved his hand.
Li Min just watched the father and daughter with a smile and said nothing.
Shitou and Shanyue quietly ate, watching.
Beibei giggled, "I’m just trying to get your future son-in-law to learn a bit."
With that, Beibei stood up, gracefully saying, "Enjoy your meal slowly; I’m off to my date. Brother, sister-in-law, I’ll see you off on your honeymoon tomorrow."
"No need to see us off, just take care of yourself," Shitou shook his head and added a chive pocket to Shanyue’s plate.
Beibei didn’t say much more and walked toward the door when Feiyang said, "Come back early, don’t stay out too late."
"Got it," Beibei rolled her eyes dramatically; she was all grown up and still her father worried about her safety outdoors.
Unless she was with her brother, her parents were never at ease with her being out on her own, even if she was with Hexuan.
These days, life at night started at twelve, and her dad, old-fashioned as he was, enforced a curfew of 10:30 PM, which unfortunately, both her mom and brother agreed with.
But despite Beibei’s complaints, she was obedient, and Hexuan was always punctual in bringing her back.
So as she was about to leave, Beibei paused and looked at Shitou and Shanyue, "Brother, sister-in-law, you’re off on your honeymoon tomorrow, want to go out tonight?"
Shitou glanced at Beibei’s hopeful face, then asked Shanyue, "Do you want to go out?"
"Yes," Shanyue nodded.
Shitou agreed, then said to Beibei, "You and Hexuan go and hang out first; we’ll meet you later tonight."
Joyful, Beibei left; with her brother around, the curfew could be pushed a little later.
Feiyang and Li Min watched their daughter leave happily, saying nothing, just reminded Shitou to take good care of his sister. They trusted their son, but they knew that a beautiful daughter might attract unwanted attention, which could be unsafe late at night. They wouldn’t let their guard down.
Despite knowing his daughter’s complaints, Feiyang remained strict; he would rather be a stern father than see his daughter suffer one day.
No matter how strong the children were, they remained the parents’ kids. Shitou was always easy to manage growing up, a reliable and capable son who made his parents and family proud.
Beibei was raised entirely by Feiyang and Li Min. Although she turned out quite well-behaved, as parents, there’s always more to worry about.
