Chapter 281: [Ω Mechanical Protection Protocol], The Executor’s Terrifying Combat Power

Chapter 281: [Ω Mechanical Protection Protocol], The Executor’s Terrifying Combat Power

Clang~~~

The sound of metal striking metal rang out. Watching sparks fly where the mechanical oscillation blade met the leopard’s claws, Blackfire could only think this was insanely unreal.

“Damn it! Its claws actually match the oscillation blade in force...”

But the leopard gave him no time to think. The beast’s combat instincts were far stronger than he had imagined.

The moment the mechanical oscillation blade collided with the leopard’s claws, the leopard twisted its body using the recoil.

Its thick, long tail became a steel whip that lashed toward his head.

Blackfire watched the leopard’s tail, so close, and listened to the roar of air being torn apart. Even he felt a rising sense of danger in his chest.

“Damn it, move—”

At this critical instant, a pale blue beam suddenly shot out from behind the leopard and pierced straight through the mutated leopard’s skull, punching a bloody hole through its head.

The mutated leopard’s movements ceased immediately, and it crashed heavily to the ground.Bloodbone’s voice came through at the same time.

“Blackfire, we have to change the plan!”

He leaped over to Blackfire in a few bounds, his body stained with blood.

“We all underestimated the Aurora Animal Assistance Association. Your last assault didn’t even force them to show their true strength. Their power is already comparable to ours...”

The other four mechanical augmentees also gathered around Blackfire. Unlike Blackfire and Bloodbone, they all bore varying degrees of damage. One of them even had his left prosthetic arm severed, with bite marks along its break.

Blackfire looked at the dozen or so mutated creatures encircling them and the flicker of data calculations passed through his eyes.

He shifted his gaze to the massive raptors circling overhead and said to Bloodbone:

“The coordination among these mutated creatures is abnormal. No matter how evolved animals get, they shouldn’t possess human-level intelligence. Their actions are coherent and tightly synchronized. Someone is definitely controlling them.”

Bloodbone’s eyes also rose to the sky.

“That’s my thought too. Capture the leader first. If we take out the person controlling them, their coordination will collapse and the animals won’t be a concern.”

They exchanged a look and both understood the other’s plan.

By now, the mutated creatures had surrounded them. The four augmentees stepped forward to block.

Blackfire and Bloodbone simultaneously pressed their right hands to their temples.

“Blackfire/Bloodbone, requesting squad deactivation of Ω Mechanical Protection Protocol, entering full power mode!”

“Executor Blackfire/Bloodbone, request to deactivate Ω Mechanical Protection Protocol approved. Your squad is entering full power mode for 60 seconds. Good luck.”

Those raging energies fused into the artificial blood matrix and, driven by the mechanical heart cores’ pumping, surged through the artificial blood vessels, racing throughout their bodies.

The blue energy veins flashing across Blackfire’s, Bloodbone’s, and the four augmentees’ prosthetics all turned red.

The feral energy warped the air around them, the magnetic field becoming unnaturally intense.

If one listened closely there was a crackling, buzzing sound.

The four augmentees charged directly at the incoming mutated creatures and jointly tore down two of them.

Meanwhile, Blackfire and Bloodbone had each reached a utility pole.

The mechanical oscillation blade slashed, and the pole had been decapitated and detached, appearing in their hands like a chopped segment.

The thick utility pole in the distance felt like a toy in their grasp.

Blackfire hefted his pole toward the positions of the circling raptors and assumed a spear-throwing stance.

“Hyaa...!”

Whoosh... whoosh...

Under the force of Blackfire’s and Bloodbone’s tremendous power, the two poles became black streaks hurtling toward the sky.

At the same time the poles were launched, Blackfire and Bloodbone crouched to build momentum, the pressure modules inside their mechanical thighs beginning to frantically concentrate energy.

In their vision, the energy pressure values climbed rapidly—60%... 88%... 99%... 118%—and finally the pressure readout turned from red to black, indicating an extremely overloaded, dangerous state.

They were about to surpass the 150% critical threshold.

They stopped compressing energy. In the next instant, the maximally compressed energy was released and strong gusts blasted out from the pressure relief valves. The ground first cracked, then a large pit formed.

At the instant of that release, Blackfire and Bloodbone, like springs compressed to the limit, used the rebound from the ground to launch themselves toward the poles at a speed invisible to the naked eye.

They quickly caught up to the poles they had thrown and stood atop them. Riding the poles through the air, they rapidly closed on the circling raptors and the four preachers being carried by those raptors.

Their altitude had already exceeded 600 meters.

“Holy shit...”

“What the...”

“No way!”

Everyone who watched froze in stunned expressions. How could this be possible?

They were actually flying like that...

Even in the underground command center of the zoo, Miller and the Saint couldn’t help but be stunned when they saw the footage on the screen.

Mona’s face was one of pure horror.

But the most terrified were the four preachers being held by the raptors.

Seeing the two executors drawing nearer and nearer, they immediately forced the raptors under their control to veer away.

They had assumed that staying aloft and using controlled mutated animals to fight would keep them safe. They never thought someone would approach them in this way.

The mutated raptors picked up the signal and immediately changed course to flee.

But for Blackfire and Bloodbone, it was already too late for the raptors to escape now.

Smiles appeared on both their faces. Then they ran quickly along the poles toward their tips and planted powerful steps.

Using that final boost, they each closed in on a raptor.

“Hmph...” Blackfire looked at the human-shaped figure in front of him covered in brown fur—like an anthropomorphic brown bear—and his eyes were icy.

The mechanical oscillation blade came down from above, only to be blocked by the sharp claws that Preacher Will had formed, producing the sound of metal colliding.

But Preacher Will’s expression was one of despair.

“No...”

Blackfire’s strike had not been aimed at Preacher Will; it was aimed at the raptor behind him.

Chirp...

The raptor was splattered with blood, half its body sliced open by the oscillation blade.

Although Preacher Will had deflected Blackfire’s attack, he could not prevent the inevitable fall from high altitude.

They were at 780 meters now.

“No...” Preacher Will began to plummet downward.

Blackfire didn’t even look at Preacher Will. While severing the raptor, he used the force of their blade clash to spring upward again, positioning himself above the raptor.

He slammed his right foot down hard, using the raptor’s body for leverage, and then lunged toward another preacher, whose eyes widened in terror...

“Die!”
