Chapter 307 - 306: If You Don’t Like It, You Can Throw It Away
Chapter 307 - 306: If You Don’t Like It, You Can Throw It Away
Damian Sinclair’s fingers twitched, but his steps didn’t stop. "Throw it away."
Bella Acker’s step suddenly froze in mid-air, her gaze tightened a bit. After a while, she lowered her eyes, and her foot slowly touched the ground.
Had he already... thrown it away?
The Wintergreen Flower she had painstakingly searched the whole city for, was it just something dispensable to him? Or perhaps, for him, holding a bunch of Wintergreen Flowers was utterly embarrassing?
As Bella thought, she instinctively pinched the gift in her pocket.
Since he disliked it so much, should she still give him this gift?
Damian’s emotions were a bit chaotic. He didn’t hear the sound of footsteps catching up behind him, so he stopped and turned back to ask, "Aren’t you going back?"
"I am going back." Bella was startled for a moment and replied softly, stepping forward to catch up with him.
Damian gave her a cold glance, then turned around and continued to walk forward.
Bella’s hand remained in her pocket, tightly clutching the gift box, keeping her head low while walking beside him.
When they first met, just being able to walk beside him made her very happy.
It hadn’t even been that long since then, and now, walking alongside him again, her mood had plummeted.
She didn’t understand why her emotions would fluctuate so wildly when she was with him, sometimes beyond her control.
One moment, she was happy and blissful due to a glance or a gesture from him. The next, she would be so sad from his words that she wanted to cry.
All these inexplicable emotions were like a roller coaster, going up and down.
Neither of them spoke any further along the way. The sun had already set, and the amusement park lights began to illuminate.
Exiting the amusement park gates, Damian headed straight toward the parking spot.
Bella hesitated for a moment but finally spoke up, "Damian..."
Damian stopped and turned to look at her.
Bella bit her lower lip, holding out the small gift box with both hands in front of him, and said in a low voice, "This is your birthday gift. If... if you don’t like it, you... you can throw it away."
Having prepared the gift, not giving it to him left her feeling regretful. But taking it out, she was terrified that he wouldn’t accept it.
She held out the gift, standing there for a long time without it being taken.
The last bit of hope in Bella’s heart slowly faded, and her fingers holding the gift box tightened involuntarily, her face looking a bit pale in the cold light.
Damian’s hand, which was already clenched into a fist in his coat pocket, looked down at her.
If she had looked up now, she would have seen the anger and struggle in his eyes.
His emotions surged within him.
The fury of betrayal, the jealousy of being hurt, the struggle to forgive her, the pain of wanting to embrace her, and his own fear of an uncontrollable, twisted mindset to completely imprison her.
Ultimately, Bella couldn’t bear the embarrassment and began to back away, "If you don’t like it, then..."
Before she could finish her words, the gift box in her hand was forcefully pulled away.
Bella was stunned, dumbfoundedly looking up at him.
Damian put the gift into his coat pocket and turned, continuing toward the parking spot.
Bella snapped back to reality, standing there watching his departing figure, and the sadness in her heart slightly eased.
Even if he would eventually throw the gift away, at least... at least for now, he had accepted it.
