Chapter 89: Ch 89: Emrys’s Comeback
Chapter 89: Ch 89: Emrys’s Comeback
Illusory time passed very slowly, but eventually, Emrys suddenly felt a special sensation coursing through his body. It was the sensation of freedom. He felt as if the impurities within his body had been expelled. He felt as if the negativity and darkness within him had been wiped out. Most importantly, he felt as if the foreign soul that had taken over his body had suddenly vanished.
Can I go back to my body now?
There was only one thought in Emrys’s mind: whether he could go back to how he was before.
With the foreign soul gone, he felt that he could now control his body again. Although he didn’t know how much time had passed, one thing was certain: he had never felt flustered during his time here. He never felt anxious, anguished, angry, or fearful. In short, he had never felt any negative emotions.
Why though?
Emrys had no idea. He can’t tell.
This puzzled Emrys deeply. The tranquility of his experience was unusual, especially given the circumstances. Perhaps it was the vast, serene sea he stood upon, or maybe the strange state of his consciousness, but there was an inexplicable calmness that enveloped him. This calmness shielded him from negative emotions, allowing him to focus solely on the sensations and realizations he was experiencing.
Or at least, that’s how he interpreted the situation.
Emrys waited, but for some unknown reason, he was unable to return to his body. He could sense that all he needed to do was take one step to regain control, and everything would return to how it was before. However, taking that step seemed impossible. It felt as if an invisible barrier was there always stopping him.
As he waited, he suddenly felt the serene atmosphere of this world disturbed by an external force. Before he could understand what was happening, a massive tentacle-like blood chain pierced out of the ocean. It was so enormous that Emrys couldn’t determine its exact length.
The chain thrashed and coiled, causing the tranquil surface of the sea to ripple violently. Emrys felt a surge of dread as the blood chain seemed to search for something—or someone. Emrys could clearly feel that the chain was moving with a purpose. At the same time, the aura exuding from its tentacle-like body was that of malevolence and power.
The chain’s appearance brought a wave of dark energy that clashed with the serenity of the sea as well.
Emrys felt an instinctive urge to distance himself from the chain, but the barrier preventing him from stepping back into his body seemed to hold him in place. The blood chain continued to thrash about, its presence growing more menacing by the second.
For the first time, Emrys felt negative emotions.
As Emrys watched in trepidation, the chain suddenly lunged towards him, its tip aiming straight for his heart.
Just like that, Emrys closed his eyes. He didn’t know what happened after that.
When he reopened his eyes, he found two young men standing not far away. They were watching him from a distance, eyeing him as if he were some kind of exhibit or perhaps a dangerous beast. Their eyes were filled with caution and they seemed reluctant to come any closer for some reason.
.....
A few moments ago...
"What was that?"
Ye Yun and the young man were puzzled. They forgot about each other for a moment and moved towards the pit slowly, only to discover a young man standing. The clothes on his body were tattered, however, there were six star patterns in his eyes.
However, something about him was off, very off. His body was exuding dark mist, and his eyes were completely black!
Those star patterns in the depth of his eyes made him look even more demonic.
Fortunately, the darkness did not dwell in his eyes for long and subsided in a few seconds later.
Ye Yun and the young man stared at Emrys with caution and confusion. They were prepared to either escape or attack at a moment’s notice. They didn’t know who Emrys was, nor did they understand how he had fallen from the sky and remained unharmed.
It wasn’t that they had never seen someone fly or fall from the sky without suffering a scratch. It was just that Emrys’s tattered appearance made them subconsciously believe he should have sustained some injuries at the very least.
Emrys took a step forward, and the two of them backed off automatically. For a moment, they even felt ashamed of their spontaneous action.
Thud~
However, they were startled when Emrys suddenly fell to the ground and fainted.
Ye Yun: "???"
The Young Man: "???"
.....
The place where Emrys faced countless red creatures was a dark forest. The dark forest was just a small place in the huge mountain range. It was unknown what this mountain range was called, but its end could not be seen. There was a tall pillar standing on top of each mountain peak, and connecting these pillars with each other was a huge, burning chain bridge.
There was a river, a lava flow, and a chasm between the Mysterious Sky Valley and the Dark Forest.
Emrys was obviously in the Dark Forest, how did he suddenly appear in the Mysterious Sky Valley?
Well, the current Emrys was completely unaware of his location and situation.
Inside the dark forest, a group of people emerged and arrived in front of nine black pillars of light. These people were led by Lin Shu who came to investigate the situation here and the reason behind the sudden appearance of the nine dark pillars of light.
It is just that they did not expect this place to be in a completely destroyed state when they arrived here. It was as if a catastrophe had befallen this place. Even the dark pillars of light seemed to have been gnawed by millions of tiny termites.
"What must have happened here for this place to have its current appearance?"
Han Chen exclaimed in awe. It was not just him, everyone was shocked. Each of them wanted to know what transpired here.
"We don’t have much time. Let’s investigate and go back to report our situation. We have thousands of people to take care of. We have been out for several days now and cannot stay out for long. Otherwise, others will be worried."
Lin Shu said and his statement was supported by everyone in the group. Just like that, a thorough investigation to obtain at least one tiny clue began.
