Chapter 360: Ch 360: The Inheritance Ground
Chapter 360: Ch 360: The Inheritance Ground
Everything was white here.
The world was silent.
In the midst of this vast expanse of white, a young man lay motionless on the white floor. His eyes were closed. His limbs sprawled weakly. His chest was not rising or falling.
He was dead.
At least, he appeared to be.
Whoooosh...
A sudden surge of white mist rolled through the space like a soft breeze made visible. It drifted over the young man’s body, swirling and curling around him.
The next moment, the young man’s fingers twitched. His chest heaved. And then, with a gasp that broke the stillness, his eyes shot open, and he sat up with a jolt, sucking in deep, desperate breaths.
"Haaah!!"
He clutched his chest as though trying to convince himself that the air was real, that he was breathing again.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Only after several deep breaths did he begin to calm down. His hands trembled slightly, but the panic in his eyes faded, replaced by disbelief and confusion.
"...I’m alive?" he muttered under his breath.
He looked around in bewilderment, scanning the endless white space with furrowed brows. The surroundings were the same as in his memories.
"I... died. I truly died there," Emrys muttered in a hoarse voice. Then he took another deep breath to calm his heart.
Memories returned in a flash as he thought of the horrifying moment when the World Master Demon’s fist smashed into his chest. That sound of bones shattering and the feeling of his body exploding into mist and blood was terrible. He could not help but recall the final moment of death and still felt scared.
He had truly died. His body had been utterly destroyed.
Emrys remained seated on the white ground for several long moments, his breaths gradually becoming more even. His fingers, which had been trembling with shock, finally steadied. His heartbeat slowed down. The weight of what had just happened still lingered in his eyes, but his expression had grown calm once more.
"I need to leave this place first."
The instant the thought surfaced in his mind, the world of white light rippled slightly.
Whoosh~
Emrys’s figure vanished from the white space without a trace.
In the next instant, he reappeared outside, just beside the monument. A faint wind brushed past his face, bringing along the smell of sand. He looked around and confirmed his location.
Then, his gaze fixed firmly on the massive skeleton of the Dark Dragon Soul Beast in the distance.
Without hesitation, Emrys made his decision. He decided to enter the inheritance ground and explore that place.
He started walking toward the giant skeleton. The moment he started walking, an enormous pressure descended on him. However, Emrys acted as if he didn’t notice.
Each step he took brought him closer to the skeleton’s overwhelming presence. The air around the bones seemed to grow heavier the closer he got, pressing down on him with invisible force.
Yet, Emrys endured it silently.
Reaching the skeleton, he raised his hand and gently touched one of the colossal bones. The bone was cold to the touch.
Then, he released his divine sense.
The moment his divine sense came into contact with the skeleton, it felt as though it brushed against an invisible gate.
And that gate opened instantly without any restriction or blockage.
A strong pull immediately surged out from within the opened gate. Emrys felt his body grow light, as if something was drawing him in.
And then, his figure disappeared in the blink of an eye.
The next moment, Emrys appeared in an entirely new space.
As soon as he appeared in this space, a strange feeling washed over him. His soul trembled faintly, as if it were resonating with the very air around him. His eyes widened slightly.
Everywhere he looked, an invisible yet incredibly dense soul force could be felt pressing gently against his soul. It wasn’t suffocating or heavy. Rather, it was warm and nourishing, as if his soul was being embraced and slowly healed.
This space was vast and quiet, stretching far in every direction. Though he saw no sky, no sun, no source of light, everything was gently illuminated here. A soft glow could be seen lingering in the air, casting a serene light on the strange stone platforms, floating islands, and distant stairways that seemed to defy gravity.
He could also feel strong vital energy from the ground beneath his feet. Luminous and silver grass gently swayed though there was no wind. Ethereal trees with translucent leaves grew in clusters here, their branches glowing faintly like lanterns in the dark. Strange flowers with soul-like wisps drifting above them was blooming quietly along a clear path.
Emrys took a deep breath.
The rich vitality here was not like a normal life force. It felt pure, ancient, and intertwined with soul power itself. This was a land cultivated and preserved not for physical bodies but for souls.
Emrys narrowed his eyes and slowly raised his hand.
In the next instant, a faint ripple spread from his body as he activated his ability. A mysterious light flickered in his pupils, and the entire inheritance ground transformed before his eyes.
What was once a vast, serene landscape now shifted into a glowing three-dimensional world. From this elevated perspective, Emrys saw everything as if he were a god gazing down from the heavens.
Every corner of the inheritance site unfolded in stunning clarity in his eyes. The winding paths, the flowing streams of soul energy, the glowing trees and flowers, hidden traps buried deep underground, ancient mechanisms veiled in illusion, Soul Beasts formed entirely from soul force, lying dormant in quiet places, trials waiting to be triggered by worthy and unworthy intruders, everything was crystal clear in his eyes.
His gaze sharpened as it moved across the intricate map. After a few moments, his eyes locked onto a certain area deep within the inheritance site.
There, he saw was a massive palace. This entire palace appeared to be shrouded in layers of soul force and sealed with complex runes. It stood at the very core of the entire inheritance ground.
Without hesitation, Emrys’s figure blurred and disappeared from where he stood.
Node Shift!
In the very next breath, he reappeared directly in front of the palace’s entrance.
He didn’t want to waste time exploring the entire inheritance ground, so he directly went to the most important place, wanting to obtain the thing he needs the most at this moment.
