Walker Of The Blue Sky

Chapter 345: Ch 345: The Eyes of Stars

Chapter 345: Ch 345: The Eyes of Stars

Emrys stood there in silence while his eyes were fixed on the blue stone block. The old man beside him remained quiet too, as if waiting for something. After a short while, the old man turned to him and said in a calm but serious voice, "Young man, you should also kowtow before the founder’s relic as well. It is our tradition. All who enter this temple must do so."

Hearing this, Emrys didn’t respond right away. Instead, he chuckled softly. There was no humor in that chuckle, it was just cold. He turned his gaze toward the old man and stared at him for a few seconds, as if trying to understand if the old man was truly serious. Then, without a word, he shifted his eyes back to the stone block.

No matter how he looked at it, he could tell this stone block was just a coffin. The runes engraved on it were all meant for preservation. Something or someone was sealed inside.

But who?

He didn’t know for sure, yet based on everything he had learned, Emrys could guess it wasn’t the founder inside. After all, as per the Primordial Ancestor’s words, the founder of this village was buried somewhere in the desert. Then, this coffin likely belonged to his wife.

That made things even more ridiculous in Emrys’s eyes.

He couldn’t help but think, ’Those ancestors of this village were fools. They created a rule to bow one hundred times to a corpse, thinking they were respecting their founder. Ridiculous!"

To Emrys, it was nonsense.

Why would he bow to a corpse?

Even if the Primordial Ancestor herself were standing before him and asked him to kowtow, he would not do it. His pride wouldn’t allow it. He would never lower his head to anyone without reason, whether living or dead. Even if it was Ling Xiaolong, he would not do so.

He stood tall, firm in his thoughts, and unwilling to follow a tradition he saw no meaning in. Then, shaking his head, he said, "The tradition is for you villagers to follow. I’m not one of you. I won’t kowtow."

With that, he turned back and left the temple.

The old man was stunned for a few seconds, not expecting Emrys to refuse so cleanly. A strange light flashed in his eyes, and then he hurriedly followed behind Emrys and said, "Stop. Since you are already here, you must accept the rules of our village. You must follow our village’s tradition."

"And if I don’t?" Emrys looked at the old man and smiled.

For some unknown reason, the old man felt this smile was not normal. But then, he thought of something and said, "As expected, you Soul Masters are indeed arrogant. No wonder our ancestors forbid us from cultivating. This must be one of the reasons."

Then, the old man stopped for a few seconds, touched his left eye, and spoke again: "Do you know why I am aware of the gemstone’s existence?"

Emrys didn’t say anything. He didn’t know why, but he seemed to feel that the old man’s behavior had changed slightly. He could not point it out, but that is how he felt.

He silently watched the old man who continued to speak: "It is because of these eyes. The founder gave his pair of eyes to my ancestor before his death. And that pair of eyes has been passed down from generation to generation in my family through bloodline. These are the Eyes of Stars. The Eyes of Stars gave me the ability to see things others cannot. This includes hidden objects, invisible forces, and even the power to shoot a powerful beam of starlight energy that can burn everything. Even the strongest Soul Masters can’t stand against these eyes. Believe me when I say you don’t want to face an attack from my Eyes of Stars."

Emrys suddenly started feeling that things were not normal in this village. In fact, this village itself is not normal.

But, like before, he could not exactly point out what was wrong with this village.

It has to be known that he had seen this entire village through the Perspective of God but didn’t find anything wrong. Now, feeling that something was wrong with this village caused him to worry a little bit.

Shaking his head, he focused on the old man’s eyes.

’The Eyes of Stars, huh?’ Emrys thought inwardly.

As for the old man’s threat, he didn’t take it to heart at all.

.....

The sun had started to dip below the horizon, casting long shadows across the stone path as Emrys and the old man stood facing each other just outside the temple.

A strange wind blew past them. It wasn’t cold, but it carried a faint scent like burnt metal mixed with sand.

Emrys frowned.

The old man’s eyes glowed faintly, stars twinkling within them like distant galaxies trapped in darkness. However, it was all nothing more than an illusion.

While Emrys closely observed the old man’s eyes, he found that these eyes didn’t seem to be the old man’s original eyes.

How did he find out?

It is because he closely observed the old man while looking at him from a God’s Perspective.

In such a state, he was able to easily see even the tiniest change and fluctuation that appeared in his eyes. He saw millions of nerve fibers that were not connected to the old man’s occipital lobe. They were kind of dormant.

But the old man clearly told him that every generation obtains the Eyes of Stars through bloodline.

Wait a minute!

Emrys paused for a few seconds and shifted his eyes. His gaze passed through all the obstacles and focused on a little girl. This little girl was the one who brought him to the old man.

She was this old man’s granddaughter.

’She doesn’t have the Eyes of Stars,’ Emrys frowned. He was becoming more and more sure of his earlier guess. Something is definitely not right with this village.

The old man obviously lied when he said these eyes were passed down to his family through bloodline.
