Chapter 338: Ch 338: A Village Blessed By Stars
Chapter 338: Ch 338: A Village Blessed By Stars
As the world around Emrys became three-dimensional, the ordinary garden around him transformed into a living map of vibrant energy patterns and soul threads. The surface of the ground peeled away in layers within his eye, revealing what lay beneath the soil.
He clearly saw as the roots of the giant tree beside him pulsed faintly with natural energy, but that wasn’t what drew Emrys’s attention.
His gaze drifted lower.
Nearly twenty thousand meters deep beneath the garden, there was a strange circular formation inscribed into the bedrock. It was ancient, cracked, and incomplete. But despite its broken appearance, Emrys can clearly tell the formation on the bedrock was still active. He could see and sense faint pulses of energy resonating from it in rhythmic patterns.
Because Emrys was observing it from a god-like perspective, he could sense that it was responding to someone.
Not the formation, but the bedrock itself.
It was precisely because the bedrock was resonating with someone that Emrys had felt that weird sensation earlier.
"Why is there a formation here, in a village without any Soul Masters?" Emrys’s brows furrowed.
It made no sense.
If there was even a single Soul Master in this village, then Emrys would not have given this matter much attention. At least, it would have meant that this place is related to Soul Cultivation or Soul Masters in some way.
But that was not true. It was just a simple mortal village where cultivation is still unknown for some reason.
Or perhaps, the villagers know about cultivation. They just chose to live as mortals instead!
Whatever the truth was, it was puzzling!
Emrys narrowed his eyes and focused further, and as the vision zoomed in, he noticed something else. He noticed something buried within the center of the formation. It was small, about the size of a child’s fist, and shaped like a rough gemstone. Its surface was glowing faintly with shifting hues of silver and blue.
"What is that? That’s definitely not a natural stone. "
Emrys frowned and closely observed the gemstone. Then he seemed to have discovered something else.
"It is this stone... Yes, it is it!"
Emrys noticed that it was not the bedrock that was resonating with something, it was this small gemstone. It seemed to be in a sealed state. That’s why the fluctuation of energy was not strong, causing Emrys to misunderstand that the bedrock was reacting to someone or something.
But then again, the fluctuations this stone gave off were strange. They were neither powerful nor weak, neither light nor dark. It felt layered with meaning... like... like...
Emrys didn’t know how to describe that feeling.
Simply put, the fluctuations Emrys sensed from the gemstone made him feel as if they were waiting for someone for countless years.
As for who it was waiting for, that remained a mystery.
Emrys blinked as something inside him stirred. The calmness he felt earlier didn’t vanish, but it gained a quiet depth.
He turned and looked at the children laughing while playing happily. Then he muttered, "It seems this village is not as simple as it appears on the surface."
He stood up slowly and glanced once more at the garden, then at the ground beneath it.
"I came here to relax a little, but it seems even this peaceful place has its own secrets."
He walked toward the pool and stopped at its edge. His reflection looked back at him. Nothing had changed. Everything was still the same.
Emrys could not help but smile while looking at his reflection in water.
Then, suddenly, he heard footsteps.
A pair of soft feet lightly ran across the grass. When he turned, he saw the little girl from earlier, the one who had chased her friends with a wooden stick, coming to him. Her hair was messy, her cheeks red from playing, and she had a flower tucked behind one ear.
She looked at him curiously, and asked: "Big Brother, why are you smiling by yourself?"
Emrys chuckled softly and said, "Because your village is beautiful."
The girl beamed with joy. She nodded heavily and said proudly: "Of course it is! Grandpa says our village is blessed by the stars."
Blessed by the stars...?
Emrys’s eyes narrowed slightly.
That was clearly an old phrase, the one that is not used lightly. He can tell this just by hearing this sentence.
His gaze shifted briefly toward the hidden formation again. Then he asked casually, "Little one, did your Grandpa tell you why the village is blessed by the stars?"
The girl looked at him and then giggled. Then again she shook her head.
"I don’t know. I just know that our village is blessed by the stars. Grandpa said our village has a secret sacred place. A long, long time ago, something fell from the sky and landed there. Only a person deemed worthy by that thing which fell from the sky can enter that hidden sacred place."
Emrys’s heart skipped a beat.
Something fell from the sky?
A hidden sacred place that is waiting for a person for an unknown number of years!
It didn’t take long for Emrys to guess a few things. Immediately, he crouched down to the girl’s level and patted her head. "Can you take me to your grandfather?"
She nodded brightly. "Of course, I can take you there. Come! He’s carving wood behind the temple!"
She grabbed his hand without hesitation, pulling him along with carefree joy. Emrys silently followed her while still thinking of a few things related to the small gemstone he had seen earlier.
Was that gemstone truly a fragment fallen from a star?
It didn’t seem like one.
However, it did seem to be something very mysterious. Even with his current level of strength, he was unable to see through that stone.
Emrys sighed and took a deep breath.
Very soon, the girl brought Emrys to the back of the only temple in the entire village.
When Emrys heard the girl talking about a temple, he thought it would be like other temples where people worship god-like beings they have faith in.
However, it was only when he arrived here that he realized how wrong he was.
