Chapter 290: Ch 290: Three Palaces

Now that Emrys understood the nature of Void, although only at the beginner level, he was able to perceive such things that were undetectable previously. He immediately sensed a layer of dimensional cover not far from him. This dimensional cover was very thin but seemed to be hiding an entire world behind it.

"What is that?"

Generally speaking, detecting this dimensional cover would have been impossible for Emrys even with his current level of strength and senses. He was fortunate enough to luckily understand the Void’s nature.

"Is it this place?"

Emrys wondered if this place was left behind by that unfathomable expert for the ’Exception’.

But then again, if he had followed the Path of Light, would he have ever truly entered this hidden place?

Let’s say this was a test created by that expert, but...wasn’t its difficulty simply too high? Would he have ever passed it without understanding the Nature of the Void?

No! He wouldn’t have! He would have failed.

In other words, whoever that unfathomable expert was, he never intended for Emrys to pass the test.

But if that were really true, then why leave this hidden world behind at all?

Emrys suddenly thought of the system’s prompt. One of those prompts was questionable. That prompt told Emrys that he was about to comprehend the laws but a mysterious force interfered and he failed.

What was that mysterious force?

Why did it interfere?

How did it even know that he was about to comprehend laws?

As for what laws he was about to comprehend, Emrys was very clear after understanding the Nature of the Void. After all, only after understanding was he able to create a powerful forbidden domain-type skill.

They were the laws of space, time, darkness, destruction, gravity, and a few more complicated laws such as Cause and Effect, and more.

The ⧼Void World Manifestation⧽ skill having the power to create a world of Void, where all things are swallowed, and all rules can be rewritten or voided, and even letting him hold dominion over all existences within that world is not so simple after all. It was possible only because this skill involves almost all laws Void hides within.

Some say Void doesn’t have gravity.

After all, void directly means "empty". How can something that doesn’t exist have gravity?

But that is not true.

The void we are talking about is not "nothingness" where nothing exist so no energy, no matter and mass, so no gravity. The void we are talking about is space with its own gravity, energy, and unique rules. It is like a deeper layer of space that exists alongside the physical universe.

Not to mention being empty, the Void is always filled with a special type of energy that is different from normal spiritual or cosmic energy, but cannot be absorbed dierctly into body otherwise it’ll harm cultivators instead of doing any good.

Noticing the existence of a dimensional cover, Emrys’s figure flashed as he directly appeared in front of it.

Emrys reached out and touched the dimensional cover. To his surprise, he felt no resistance. His hand passed through as if there was nothing there.

He withdrew his hand and thought for a moment. Then, without hesitation, he took a step forward and entered the dimensional cover.

As he stepped inside, the scene before him changed. He was no longer in the endless Void. Instead, he found himself standing on a floating island.

Yes, it was not a "world" like Emrys thought. Instead, a piece of land was floating in the dark void, hidden within the cover of dimensional barrier.

This island was huge. It didn’t have anything aside from only three but massive palaces.

The first palace was grand and powerful. At its topmost layer, a gigantic dragon statue was carved. The dragon looked fierce, as if it could come to life at any moment.

The second palace was just as large and majestic. But instead of a dragon, it had a gigantic phoenix statue at the top. The phoenix spread its wings wide, as if it was about to soar into the sky.

The third palace was also very big, but it was different from the other two. It had no statue at the top. Without a statue, it looked less eye-catching compared to the first two, but it still had an ancient and mysterious aura.

The front gates of both palaces with the dragon and phoenix statues were golden and looked exactly like the gates with dragon and phoenix murals that Emrys had been unable to open.

As for the front gate of the third palace, it was impressive but definitely not the one with many beasts.

Emrys stood still, looking at the three palaces and two gates. He could feel a strange power coming from each of them. But he didn’t know what these places were or why they were here.

"So that’s how it is!"

Several puzzling questions of Emrys were answered all at once.

He was right. That unknown expert definitely not wanted him to come, but he still left behind this hidden "world" not for him, but for the Wielder of Destiny and the Wielder of Fate.

As for the three golden gates outside; among the three of them, two were for Andrea and the Wielder of Fate. Those gates must be there for them to tell what building to enter.

Let’s say Andrea opened one of the two Golden Doors on the vast battlefield. Then, after passing that Golden Door, he would directly enter one of the two palaces. There would be no Path of Light for him to walk.

The Path of Light was only for Emrys, and that is to trick him and let him walk forever on that path before dying ultimately.

Now, the only question that was still unanswered was why that person wanted ’Exception’ dead.

For a moment, Emrys simply observed in silence. Then, he took a deep breath and stepped forward, appearing right in front of the third palace.

Even now, he didn’t think of stealing the opportunity meant for Andrea and the Wielder of Fate.
