Chapter 282: Ch 282: Alex’s Motive
Chapter 282: Ch 282: Alex’s Motive
Slivya told Emrys about his father. After a long and deep explanation, Emrys finally understood everything.
The day his father, Alex, left home, he came to the Celestial Horizon to look for, if any, a cure to break the Curse of Echoing Silence. However, when he returned, he found several changes here.
Many cities had been destroyed, countless people were killed, and signs of battles could be seen everywhere. It was very obvious someone was instigating these battles from behind the scenes.
A few of his old friends were also implicated in these battles and some of them were even killed.
In the next few days, Alex first visited his family, hoping to seek his father’s help in breaking the Curse of Echoing Silence. However, Emrys’s grandfather flatly refused, saying that there was no cure for the curse. Furthermore, he made it clear that he would never acknowledge Slivya and Emrys as his daughter-in-law and grandson. Even if a cure existed and he knew of it, he would never provide it to Alex.
It’s astonishing how, sometimes, even familial bonds can sour to such an extent that reconciliation seems impossible.
Alex didn’t give up. He continued to look for the cure. Simultaneously, he started resisting the forces instigating battles everywhere. After a few years, he got to know that the five major families were behind the chaos in Celestial Horizon, and they were receiving orders from someone else.
Alex still doesn’t know the identity of the person controlling and ordering the five major families. It is clear that that person must have come from a very strong background.
Anyway, Alex started going against the five families from then onward. He also built a small force to support people. While at it, Alex broke through and became an Eternal Sky Soul Master in the next few years.
By then, Slivya had been with Alex for a few years already, supporting her husband in every action. Not long after Alex became an Eternal Sky Soul Master, Slivya also followed suit.
After years of investigation, they finally uncovered the truth about the Celestial Horizon. It was then that Alex made the decision to venture beyond the Edge and seize the opportunity left behind by the mysterious, unfathomable expert from ten million years ago. Even if he failed to obtain that ultimate opportunity, Alex was determined to acquire the treasures scattered across the ancient battlefield hidden beyond the Edge of Celestial Horizon. Those treasures could prove to be invaluable in strengthening their resistance against the five major families and the Federation.
Not long after, Alex received news that the mysterious controller of the five major families had appeared and was planning to start a war in a section of the ancient battlefield near Star Lake City. No one knows intentionally or accidentally, but this area was left behind in the land of Celestial Horizon by that unfathomable expert from ten million years ago.
Regardless of the reason, the fact remained that the mysterious controller had come to Celestial Horizon with the intent of instigating a large-scale war. The previous small-scale battles were just for people to get used to it and not suspect a thing.
Upon learning this, Alex immediately began recruiting allies and deploying them to the battlefield to resist the impending threat. At the same time, he launched an investigation to uncover the true motive behind the war. Eventually, he discovered that the blood of countless Soul Masters was required to activate a powerful ancestral weapon belonging to the controller’s family. This weapon was rumored to be buried somewhere within the ancient battlefield, and it was also the ultimate objective of this large-scale war.
That mysterious controller somehow caused countless Soul Beasts to wreak havoc on the ancient battlefield.
However, a few days ago, a powerful Celestial Spirit Soul Master emerged and ended the war alone. That war was something that even a few Eternal Sky Soul Masters could end just because they wanted to. It is incomprehensible how a mere Celestial Spirit Soul Master ended everything so quickly and alone.
Even after a long search, they were unable to find that Celestial Spirit Soul Master.
When Emrys heard about a Celestial Spirit Soul Master who ended the large-scale war alone by killing an uncountable number of Soul Beasts, he felt embarrassed inwardly. He knew the Celestial Spirit Soul Master Slivya was talking about was him.
Nevertheless, he didn’t share any of this with Slivya. He fought and ended the battle not because he wanted to gain fame or acknowledgment from others. He did it because killing Soul Beasts and devouring their souls directly strengthened his own soul, advancing his Soul Cultivation rapidly.
As for how he managed to kill countless Soul Beasts on his own, the answer lay in his Cosmic Cultivation, which was once far more powerful than his Soul Cultivation. However, while his Cosmic Cultivation remained formidable, the gap between it and his Soul Cultivation had significantly narrowed, now standing at just about one major realm of difference.
Emrys now understood what his father intended to do and why. However, he couldn’t help but wonder whether he should lend his father a helping hand or stay out of his affairs.
He couldn’t arrive at a decision right away.
After a brief conversation, Slivya said with a note of disappointment, "It’s such a pity that we failed to find a way to break the curse, even after all these years. Breaking your curse has always been our top priority. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a solution."
Emrys smiled upon hearing this. Shaking his head, he said, "There’s no need to keep searching for a solution, Mom. Look, my curse was lifted long ago. I found a way to break it when I was still in the Fragmented Cosmic World. Not only that but after breaking the curse, even though I didn’t awaken Ice-attributed or Lightning-attributed Soul Marks, I managed to awaken the Ice Pegasus Bloodline and Lightning Wraith Bloodline."
As Emrys spoke, he waved his hand, and a gust of icy wind swept through the room. Shards of ice formed mid-air and shot toward a wall, shattering against it with a resounding "boom." Simultaneously, arcs of lightning flickered across his body, crackling with energy.
Though he had since lost both bloodlines and even his Soul Marks after his transformation, he still retained their powers and abilities.
It was very easy to convince his mother.
