Chapter 256: Ch 256: Timeless Enlightenment Seed
Emrys studied the runes of Ascension Gate. He wanted to understand them so that the gate could be activated. By then, he would have already completed half of the mission.
His mission was to activate the Ascension Gate of Celestial Horizon and end the war.
Part of the reason a huge war was ongoing in Celestial Horizon was the Ascension Gate. No one can ascend to Spiritarium due to Soul Masters from up above. If the Ascension Gate can be activated, almost all the peak Eternal Sky Soul Masters can ascend and help end the war quite easily.
However, Emrys doesn’t need their help.
He can end the war after ascending to Spiritarium himself.
All he needs to do is understand who the enemies are.
He can learn about them from his parents who have been in the Celestial Horizon for quite a few years already.
That’s why, Emrys ignored all the distractions of the world and focused on studying the runes engraved all around the small lake, that together made the Ascension Gate.
Unfortunately, even after studying for hours, he was unable to understand a single rune.
It is not because his comprehension was weak, it’s simply because he had no basic knowledge about runes. Only rune masters can understand and engrave runes.
"If I can’t understand them, how would I activate the Ascension Gate?" Emrys sighed.
The Ascension Gate was a door to the Spiritarium. Since it was a door, it could be locked or opened from both sides. This side was still working properly, but the other side was tightly locked. If Emrys wants to open the door, he needs a key that can forcefully unlock the lock and open it again.
That key can only be obtained after thoroughly understanding these runes.
The question was, how should he understand them?
If he wants to understand all the runes, years would pass but he might still be unable to activate the Ascension Gate. By then, Andrea would already be Eternal Sky Soul Master and could solve this issue along with the Wielder of Fate.
Emrys couldn’t help but recall his own words that he had spoken to Andrea before jumping into the small pool, and started feeling embarrassed.
Those words... They were truly arrogant.
And there doesn’t seem to be a way for him to back those words up.
What should he do then?
Focus!
Emrys suddenly clenched his fist and again focused on one of the runes. This time, he was determined not to shift his gaze until he understood at least something.
And it was at this moment, he felt rumbling in the depth of his consciousness, and his eyes blurred.
When everything before his eyes cleared up again, he found himself floating in a dark space where the only source of light was a small green glowing ball.
"What is this place?"
Emrys frowned as he drew closer to the green glowing ball.
When he got closer, he could finally see the outline of the luminous ball a bit clearer.
Emrys got a bit more closer to the glowing ball, and when he was standing right in front of it, he could finally see and tell what this glowing ball was.
It was actually a seed glowing with ethereal green light. However, this green seems to be restricted. He could also see a touch of golden mixed in green and had a feeling as if the golden wanted to explode forth, but for some reason, it was restrained.
Shockingly enough, just standing in front of this seed suddenly made Emrys’s mind clear. He felt as if the runes he had seen before were not so complicated that he needed years to waste just to understand them. He can comprehend their essence quite easily if he focuses.
Shaking his head, Emrys glanced at the seed with some marvel in his heart.
He had seen this seed before.
If he remembered correctly, he obtained this seed along with the inheritance of Divine Weapon Craftsman from Chaos. [Ref. Ch - 220]
As for its name, this seed was called Timeless Enlightenment Seed.
Back then, Ling Xiaolong helped Emrys awaken the Soulforge Prism Orb. After the awakening, he obtained both the Legacy of Divine Weapon Craftsman, Feng Zhiling, and the Timeless Enlightenment Seed.
The instant he obtained the Timeless Enlightenment Seed, it entered his consciousness, fell into the depth of his Soul River, and disappeared.
No matter how he looked for this seed, he was unable to find it.
Now, the seed summoned him here on its own.
This dark space... Although Emrys was not sure how he arrived here, he somehow knew this place existed in the depth of his consciousness where no impurity could reach. This was also the core of his consciousness that can be developed freely of outside influence.
The question was: why did the Timeless Enlightenment Seed summon him here?
"Arghhhh~"
Suddenly, a brutal pain attacked his consciousness, causing Emrys to cry out loud. This pain was inhuman and torturous, for Emrys felt an invisible force squeezing something out of his consciousness forcefully.
He didn’t have time to think about where this invisible force came from, why it attacked his consciousness, or what it was actually trying to squeeze out.
The pain hit Emrys like nothing he had ever felt before. It was sharp and fierce, like claws tearing into his mind.
Not only his consciousness, Emrys felt as if an unseen hand was grabbing his very thoughts and squeezing them, pulling something deep from inside his head.
"Arghhhh!" he continued to cry. His painful voice echoed in the darkest space he had ever been. He wanted the pain to stop but there was nothing he could do to make it stop.
The pain was endless and unforgiving. His head felt like it was about to split open, and he couldn’t think or breathe properly. His whole body shook, and he felt helpless, trapped in agony.
It felt as if every part of him was being crushed, and his mind was bending under this strange force. His heart pounded loudly, but the pain drowned out every beat, making him feel like he was breaking apart piece by piece.
Emrys could barely hold on. He felt his mind slipping, and he didn’t know how much longer he could take it. He just wished for it to stop, but the pain only grew worse, pressing harder and deeper into him.
