Chapter 168: Ch 168: Spatial Blade (1)
"I shall improve quickly and enter the Vast Expanse of Eternity within 50 years!" A determined light flashed in Emrys’s eyes.
Ling Xiaolong had told him that it would be possible to enter the Vast Expanse of Eternity within a hundred years. However, Emrys felt an urgency and drive beyond that timeline. Now, he was determined to achieve this goal in just 50 years, or perhaps even sooner.
Now, there was only one thought in his mind, and that was to become strong enough to enter the Vast Expanse of Eternity as soon as possible.
"It has been a few days. I shall go and try to obtain the Nether Water Herb first."
Emrys was sure that he could now deal with the Scaled Lungfish which is a Ninth Step Soul Beast. Although he was still only an Eighth Step Warrior, his strength was now much stronger.
Without hesitation, Emrys returned to the side of the lake, only to be shocked.
He was surprised to see that the Abyssal was not dead yet, it was still alive. The Scaled Lungfish was actually torturing it terribly. The wounds on the Abyssal’s body looked horrible. Not even an arch-enemy would do something like this that the Scaled Lungfish did to the Abyssal.
Although the Abyssal was not dead, it was not far from death. It has been tortured horribly by the Scaled Lungfish for a few days already, and no longer wanted to suffer this inhuman punishment.
He was unable to escape due to his current condition. In the end, he wanted to commit suicide, but it was at this moment that Abyssal’s gaze fell on Emrys who suddenly appeared in his line of sight.
When their gazes met, the atmosphere turned silent for a second.
Emrys: "..."
Abyssal: "..."
A human?
Why is he here?
The abyssal was puzzled, not expecting a human to come here. He was in a complete daze.
Emrys felt a little awkward. He never expected the abyssal to coincidentally look at him even though he was still slightly far away.
All of a sudden, as if the Abyssal saw hope, his desire to live exploded. He couldn’t care about who Emrys was or why he was here. The reason was not important. He just wanted to survive this catastrophe.
Hence, he looked at Emrys hopefully and said, "Brother, help me!"
From Emrys’s attire, abyssal could tell that he was not from this world. In other words, Emrys must be an outsider.
From his point of view, an outsider must not know anything about an Abyssal like him, at least not weak outsiders like the human standing slightly far away. So, he immediately pleaded with Emrys to help him.
"Roar!"
Due to Abyssal’s action, the Scaled Lungfish also noticed Emrys’s presence and let out a furious growl. It was happily torturing the abyssal who dared to eye on its treasure and even tried to poison it, and now, yet another person arrived to die.
It roared angrily at Emrys, causing strong wind to brush against Emrys’s face even though Emrys was slightly far away.
Shua~
Emrys closed his eyes due to the wind, but when he opened them again, he was shocked to see a blue energy ball right in front of his eyes.
"Shit!"
With a flash, Emrys immediately disappeared. He didn’t have the time to think about direction. Utilizing his Node Shift ability, Emrys moved randomly. His luck was really bad, he was only dozens of meters away from the Scaled Lungfish.
On the other hand, the energy ball landed on the ground, creating a terrifying explosion that immediately caused the appearance of a huge pit.
Seeing that Emrys had appeared, the Scaled Lungfish swung its tail and slammed it on the ground, sending shockwaves rippling through the earth. The ground cracked and trembled, and debris flew into the air. To Emrys’s shock, the Scaled Lungfish took this opportunity to push itself ahead, smashing its tail at him.
Emrys barely had time to react as the powerful force approached him. Having no choice, he quickly activated his Node Shift ability again, teleporting away just as the tail smashed into the spot where he had stood moments before.
As Emrys reappeared at a safe distance, he glanced back at the crater left by the Scaled Lungfish’s attack. He realized that this creature was not only powerful but also incredibly aggressive. It would not be easy to take it down.
"Roar!"
The Scaled Lungfish roared again, its eyes locking onto Emrys. It was clear that the creature saw him as a nuisance. It was annoyed by Emrys’s continuous dodging. It wasn’t going to let Emrys leave unscathed. It was determined to kill Emrys right here. The Scaled Lungfish was like this: Since this human has come, he would become my food.
The air around the lake crackled with tension as the two faced off.
Emrys took a deep breath, calming his nerves. He knew he had to act fast and kill this beast as soon as possible. With a swift motion, he reached into his spatial ring and pulled out a blade.
"I never had an opportunity to test the strength of my spatial blade. For some reason, I feel it’ll be too much of a waste to create a real spatial blade just to deal with you. That’s why, I’ll use this blade as a medium to execute Spatial Blade skill instead of creating a Spatial Blade directly. Show me, what you’ve got!"
Emrys pointed the blade at the Scaled Lungfish and challenged it.
"Roar!"
The Scaled Lungfish is an intelligent Soul Beast. It understood every word said by Emrys. Angered by his words, the Scaled Lungfish lunged forward, its jaws opening wide to release another powerful energy attack. Blue energy particles started to gather in front of its huge mouth.
Emrys didn’t wait for it to strike.
Why would he wait just to die?
Emrys immediately began to manipulate the spatial energy, drawing it out from the Silver Whirlpool within the Mystic Energy Core. Then, he injected the space energy into the blade, causing the blade to vibrate at a rather high frequency.
