Chapter 161: Ch 161: Scaled Lungfish: A Ninth Step Creature

Emrys kept looking at fishes that suddenly started floating on the surface. There were at least a hundred of them, and all of them were dead.

Obviously, the Ultimate Stage High-tier Abyssal did something. That cloth bag must be filled with some sort of poisonous materials, killing weak Soul Beasts in the shortest time possible.

However, the abyssal was still waiting by the side of the lake. Emrys could tell that the abyssal was a little nervous at this point.

Emrys could not help but guess that the abyssal must be waiting for the guardian beast of Nether Water Herb to be poisoned and reveal itself to the surface.

However, even after waiting for about an hour, the guardian beast in the lake never showed itself.

The abyssal could no longer contain his excitement. Believing that the guardian beast must have been defeated, he burst into proud, triumphant laughter. After that, he jumped into the lake without hesitation, going straight for the Nether Water Herb.

"He is gone!" Emrys’s eyes lit up when he saw the abyssal jumping into the lake.

Then, he returned to his hidden vantage point and resumed observing the lake, curious to see what would happen next.

That abyssal had already poisoned the lake. He was not sure whether the poison was still there or not, he was also not sure whether the guardian beast of the Nether Water Herb was dead or not.

Emrys’s pupils shrunk as he thought of the last possibility.

The guardian beast might be more intelligent than the abyssal had expected. It may have pretended to be poisoned and didn’t make any unusual movement even after a long while. This caused the abyssal to misunderstand that the Guardian Beast was poisoned and probably dead. Due to the heavy weight of its body, it was unable to surface, unlike the rest of fishes.

Maybe, the guardian beast wanted to lure the abyssal into the water, planning to catch the thief in its kingdom.

"Damn!"

When Emrys thought of this possibility, he could not help but suck in a cold breath. If this is really the truth, then the guardian beast must be very scary.

"Damn it!"

The abyssal was agitated. He chopped his weapon downwards while evading to the side. At the same time, the abyssal executed a movement skill, moving far ahead while leaving behind dark fog that soon dissipated.
