Chapter 157: Ch 157: Charm Herbs

Two figures could be seen climbing a mountain. They were not far from reaching the top. These two figures were obviously Emrys and Rufi.

Rifu was guiding Emrys while clearing the path ahead. She also informed Emrys of a few dangers that might appear on the mountain peak.

After climbing the mountain for another three hours, both of them finally reached the mountain peak.

"This is it. We are here!"

Rufi stopped and began observing the environment around her.

"Are you looking for your father?" Emrys asked, seemingly guessing something.

What a pity, his guess was wrong!

Rufi shook her head in denial, saying, "No. We’ll eventually cross our paths with my father. I’m looking for spiritual herbs that could only be found on this mountain peak. They are called Charm Herbs."

"Charm Herbs?" Emrys was surprised.

Rufi nodded and explained what the Charm Herbs looked like. She also told Emrys that Charm Herb could charm a person, and put them in a hallucination. It was a valuable herb and could be used to confuse powerful beasts and escape safely.

Indeed, this herb was valuable, mainly for the natives of this world.

Emrys also started to look for the Charm Herb. He scanned the surroundings, but he didn’t see any signs of this herb. He frowned and then walked to the cliff and looked down.

"There they are," Emrys suddenly smiled and leaped down.

The cliff was filled with all kinds of grasses and vines. Most importantly, there were many herbs that looked exactly how Rufi defined the Charm Herbs.

When Emrys leaped down, he immediately picked up seven stalks of Charm Herb that were the closest to him. Then, he swung lightly and came to the area where the other Charm Herbs were present. Without hesitation, he started to pick them up one by one.

It was at this moment a dark shadow shot out from the bushes and attacked Emrys.

"Be careful!" Rufi, who was on top, shouted in shock.

She was not aware that Emrys had been alert all this while. He was aware that Charm Herbs must be protected by a powerful creature. After all, it is common information that spirit herbs are guarded by creatures so that they can use the herb and become stronger.

Emrys waved his hand and dark mist spurted out, engulfing the black shadow entirely. The black shadow roared as it dropped to the ground.

When the dark mist receded, the shadow’s body was revealed. It was a two-meter-long spider. It might have looked fierce before, but several deep wounds were making the spider suffer pain uncontrollably as of now.

It was not dead yet. Even though Emrys had not seen the moon patterns in the spider’s eyes, he could tell that this spider was a Sixth Step Beast.

"Roar!"

While Emrys was still observing the spider, a few more black spiders roared and shot out from the grasses. They raised their legs to attack Emrys. Several of them even shot poisonous webs at Emrys.

"Eh, so many Sixth Step Beasts!" Emrys was surprised. There were at least twenty of these spiders. He did not expect so many Sixth Step Beasts to attack him all at once.

However, Emrys was not afraid. His eyes flashed with dark light. Dark mist rose from his body and suddenly swept over in all directions.

Curse Breath!

The Curse Breath was powerful. Not even ten seconds passed, and the moment the Curse Breath touched the spider, they fell down to the ground. Every spider was on the brink of death.

Emrys did not hesitate to move forward and kill them all. After death, all of them shattered into fragments of energy and entered Emrys’s body, bringing his cultivation closer to the peak of Eighth Step.

"Increasing cultivation here is really too easy!" Emrys chuckled excitedly and then shook his head. After that, he picked all the other Charm Herbs in a few minutes.

As for the hallucination effect of the Charm Herb, it did not work on Emrys because Emrys’s soul was much stronger. Most importantly, he had also put an extra layer of Soul Force around his body to be safe. That’s why, the Charm Herbs’ hellucination was unable to affect him at all.

After he collected all the Charm Herbs, Emrys raised his head and saw Rufi looking at him with shock in her eyes. More so, her eyes were sparkling. It was as if... She was adoring Emrys.

Shaking his head, Emrys smiled a little before using Node Shift to appear right beside Rufi, which again startled her. But she did not question him or ask anything.

"We are done with the Charm Herbs. Here, take them!" Emrys gave Rufi 90% of the Charm Herbs he obtained. This can also be said to be returning her favor of bringing him to the border between Level 1 and Level 2 areas.

Rufi wanted to reject him, but when she recalled how easily Emrys took care of all the Blood Demon Bugs and Spiders, she accepted the Charm Herbs gladly. Obviously, Emrys was too powerful to need Charm Herbs.

"Let’s continue our journey then." Emrys kept the remaining Charm Herbs and spoke to Rufi.

"Hmm!" Rufi nodded and started to lead Emrys downward, on the other side of the mountain peak.

There was no Seventh Step Beast on the mountain peak. It seems the Seventh Step Beasts were already taken care of by Chief Bohu and Rufi’s father. After all, only these two people came here before Emrys.

As they were climbing down the mountain, Emrys suddenly stopped and looked ahead vigilantly.

"Why did you stop walking?" Rufi was puzzled.

"Someone is here!" Emrys said.

"Someone is here? Could it be my father?" Rufi exclaimed in surprise.

Emrys didn’t know who the other person was, so he did not let his guard down. A figure appeared not long after in front of his eyes. This was a middle-aged man who gave exactly the same aura as Anzo and Chief Bohu, with hidden dangers.

When the middle-aged man saw Rufi, he was shocked for a second. Then he exclaimed, "Rufi, why are you here?"
