Chapter 125: Ch 125: The Disk (1)
Chapter 125: Ch 125: The Disk (1)
The disk in Emrys’s hand was bizarre. Its surface was covered in mystical patterns that seemed to intertwine and squirm at first glance. Countless patterns appeared to be writhing on the disk, each filled with immense power of space.
Yes, the power of space!
Emrys had already tempered his veins and skin with spatial energy. Combined with his first Soul Mark, he was very sensitive to space. He could tell immediately upon touching the disk that it was filled with the power of space.
What attracted him the most was that not only the Walker of the Blue Sky but even the Void Phoenix was reacting to this disk.
Why?
Emrys knew at that moment that he had to inquire about the origin of this disk and what it could be used for.
Looking at the curious Mu Bailing, he sighed. She had risked her life for him just because of the disk’s reaction to his power. The disk must have reacted when Emrys first used the Node Shift to steal the Mysterious Sky Fruits.
Honestly, he wanted to know why the disk was reacting to his Soul Mark, but it seemed Mu Bailing could not answer this question since she herself was astonished when the disk reacted to him.
"Tell me everything you know about this disk!" Emrys asked without hesitation. If anything, Mu Bailing must know more than him.
Mu Bailing shook her head, saying, "I don’t know anything. I just accidentally chanced upon this disk when I was exploring a crumbled ruin with my master. My master told me that this disk was an ancient artifact related to space, however, even she didn’t know what the disk could be used for. This artifact did not activate no matter how many methods we used. In the end, it was useless in our hands so my Master let me keep it."
"But it reacted to you for some reason, and intensely at that. I think if anyone then only you can activate the disk and reveal its mystery. Have you found anything?"
Mu Bailing had clearly seen Emrys’s eyes widening the instant he touched the disk. She also witnessed how Emrys looked surprised before his expression changed to excitement and then a questioning look appeared on his face.
Emrys nodded and didn’t hide anything, though he did change a few details before speaking. "The disk is filled with the power of space, and I have a space-attributed body. It reacted to my body, maybe due to the space attribute. I just don’t know why!"
Although Emrys did not have a space-attributed body yet, he was confident he would one day. He didn’t want to reveal anything about the Void Phoenix or the Walker of the Blue Sky, so he made up the excuse of having a space-attributed body.
Mu Bailing was startled. She did not expect Emrys to have the extremely rare space-attributed body. But if this is true, it explains why the disk reacted to him. Since the disk was an artifact related to space, it made sense for it to respond to Emrys’s space-attributed body.
However, she frowned when she thought about the dark mist Emrys had around his body whenever he fought previously. Could a space-attributed body truly have that ominous dark mist?
Although she was curious and didn’t fully believe Emrys, she refrained from asking further questions. It wasn’t her place to pry.
"Since you have a space-attributed body, perhaps you can activate the disk. Try it, and let’s see what happens once it’s activated!" Mu Bailing suggested, hoping to uncover the mystery of the disk. At the same time, this would also confirm whether Emrys truly had a space-attributed body.
Emrys found this idea intriguing.
Previously, he was too weak to manipulate spatial energy effectively, but now that he was a Gold Soul Master and had successfully tempered his skin, he could at least manipulate space energy with ease by attracting it from the void. This made executing his second Origin Skill, Spatial Blade, much easier as well.
Holding the disk firmly in his hand, he took a deep breath and focused his energy. He began channeling his Soul Force, directing it toward his first Soul Mark, the Walker of the Blue Sky. The familiar sensation of space energy surged within him from the void around him.
"It is true!"
Mu Bailing widened her eyes in shock. She can feel space energy surging towards Emrys like a tide. The space energy also behaved like children running towards their parents upon hearing the call.
She started looking at the disk curiously. This might be the moment she would know what the disk can be used for.
Emrys controlled the space-attributed energy and let it flow into the disk.
As the space energy connected with the disk, one of the squirming mystical patterns on its surface began to glow, but it was still far from being filled.
Emrys continued to attract the space-attributed energy and fill the pattern.
Gradually, that pattern pulsed with a radiant light. It was also at this moment, the power of space emanated from that one pattern on the disk’s surface, filling the air inside the cave. The atmosphere seemed to distort, and Emrys felt a strange sensation, as if the very fabric of space was bending and shifting.
Mu Bailing watched with wide eyes as well. She had never seen anything like this before. Her curiosity and anticipation started growing. The disk’s reaction was undeniable proof that only people like Emrys who are related to space can activate it.
Emrys continued to pour the space energy into the disk. He can feel the disk grow warmer in his hand.
However, as time passed second by second, drops of sweat started forming on Emrys’s forehead. He felt as if his Soul Force and stamina were used up completely. If this continues, he might end up losing consciousness due to having no energy to support him.
It was also at this moment, the first pattern was filled completely. Suddenly, the disk emitted a bright flash of light, and the surrounding space seemed to ripple like water. Emrys felt a pull, as if the disk was trying to draw him into another dimension.
