Chapter 109: Ch 109: The Multicolored Orb & The Golden Figure

More than a year ago...

"I have failed to awaken my Soul Mark twice already. This is my last chance. Can I awaken it this time?"

A young man sat on his bed, gazing worriedly at a small orb placed in front of him. His expression revealed his lack of confidence in awakening his Soul Mark.

He took a deep breath and tried to steady his nerves. The room was silent, the only sound being his own heartbeat, beating loud in his ears. He knew this was a crucial moment for him. Failure again could mean the end of his dreams.

With shaking hands, he reached out and placed his hand on the orb. As soon as he touched it, a warm light began to emanate from the orb, wrapping around his hand and slowly spreading throughout his body. He closed his eyes, focusing all his energy on the task at hand.

Normally, a person could awaken their Soul Mark in a matter of few minutes. The longer it takes to awaken the Soul Mark, the higher the quality.

Minutes felt like hours as he concentrated without being able to awaken the Soul Mark, and very soon, an hour already passed.

He could tell that he failed once again. He was disappointed and was about to open his eyes when he suddenly felt a sharp pain shoot through his body. The pain not only affected his body but also his soul. Astonishingly, the light from the orb which almost died started to grow brighter and brighter. In just a few seconds, the light got so bright that it almost blinded him even with his eyes closed.

He could not understand why this strange and painful situation had occurred.

Was there something wrong with the Soul Orb?

Or could it be that something went wrong during the process of his Soul Mark awakening?

His soul was in pain.

Just why?

The intense light emanating from the orb enveloped him completely, and within it, he felt his soul being tugged and stretched. The pain was unbearable, unlike anything he had ever experienced before. His thoughts started to become muddled. He felt heavy in his head and his eyes started to get blurry. He even felt like losing his senses and forgetting who he really is.

It was at this time, amidst the soul-wrenching agony, that he sensed something powerful approaching him.

His heart raced as he fought to stay conscious. He knew he had to endure whatever was happening. He felt like dying, but he doesn’t want to die. He wanted to live, live for his parents, live for his dreams.

Endless thoughts were crossing his mind, but among them all, he hoped that whatever was happening to him would lead to the successful awakening of his Soul Mark. Somewhere within his heart, a light of hope was flickering constantly.

The light enveloping him pulsed rhythmically, each pulse sending another wave of pain through his soul.

While he was suffering an inhumane pain, he could sense whatever was approaching him, or most likely his soul, had gotten very close.

Mysteriously, after what felt like an eternity, the pain began to subside. The light around his body dimmed, and he felt like being freed from the shackles of something, something very dark and cursed.

The young man cautiously opened his eyes. To his astonishment, he found himself standing in a dark void. There was no land or sky here, but he was somehow standing very steadily.

He hurriedly checked his body and relief washed over him.

Fortunately, there was nothing wrong with his body.

Just as he heaved a sigh of relief, he saw a falling star far in the void of darkness. The star was falling towards him at an astonishing speed.

"Is this what I sensed was approaching me?"

The young man muttered, but he didn’t have time to ponder because the falling star had already drawn near.

He tried to run, but there was nowhere to go in the darkness. Moreover, he was like a turtle racing against a rabbit with a speed booster. Before he could even cover ten meters, the falling star arrived right above his head.

"Ahhhh!"

Terrified, the young man closed his eyes and raised his hands over his head, instinctively taking a defensive posture.

However, when he didn’t feel anything even after a long time, he slowly lowered his hand and opened his eyes to take a look.

To his surprise, the falling star was suspended there, not moving an inch. Furthermore, the falling star was in the shape of an orb, glowing with multicolored radiance, exuding an ethereal and mesmerizing aura that was capable of captivating anyone completely.

Due to the multicolored light, he could not clearly see how the orb looked. Its surface was completely blocked by the multicolored radiance.

"What are you?"

The young man subconsciously asked, reaching out to touch the multicolored orb.

However, before he could touch the rob, the multicolored orb exploded with a bright golden radiance that forced the young man to close his eyes.

When he opened his eyes again, he was shocked to discover a golden figure standing in front of him. The multicolored orb was in his hand. This golden figure’s facial or bodily features could not be seen. It was more like a golden shadow of someone.

"What is your name?"

A voice came out of the golden figure that echoed in this void of darkness. The young man clearly heard the voice coming out of the golden figure, but he felt like this voice was coming from every direction as well. It was very peculiar.

Anyway, the young man did not feel scared for some reason. Instead, with the appearance of the multicolored orb and this golden figure, his shaking heart calmed down completely. His soul felt peaceful, as if nothing could harm him as long as he was standing in the presence of this golden figure.

He felt so calm that he didn’t even realize he wasn’t being alert or cautious around this golden figure, who was supposedly a stranger. Rather than putting up his guard, he felt an overwhelming sense of trust towards him.

"Emrys Frazier!"

The young man spoke. He did not even think anything before calling out his name.
