Chapter 120 -: 119 A nightmare.[3]

The giant wolf stood tall in the middle of the pack, its face twisted in pure rage.

Blood dripped from its huge jaws. Between its sharp teeth hung Marie and Ryan.

The wolf’s long fangs had sunk deep through their bodies and throats, choking the last bits of life out of them.

With one quick jerk of its neck, the giant wolf threw the two bodies toward the pack of normal purple wolves.

The moment Marie and Ryan hit the ground, dozens of wolves jumped on them.

Sharp teeth tore into their flesh again and again.

The sound of ripping meat and crunching bones filled the air.

Lana’s knees gave out.

She dropped to the ground, staring at her friends being eaten alive right in front of her eyes.

Her lips moved but only weak words came out.

"Marie... Ryan..." she mumbled.

"Why... why aren’t you vanishing? Why did your soul tablets disappear?"

Tears rolled down her face.

Her whole body shook.

She remembered the Lone King’s voice clearly, he had said they would not really die here.

But right now, the soul tablets of Marie and Ryan had completely vanished from her storage.

That could only mean one thing.

They were truly dead.

Despair filled her chest like a heavy stone.

She could not find any strength to stand up.

Her arms felt like lead.

All she could do was watch as the wolves kept biting and tearing at what was left of her friends.

On the other side, Dave had been fighting the smaller wolves.

He swung his mace wildly, smashing heads and breaking bones.

When he finally noticed Lana was no longer beside him, he turned around.

The moment he saw what was happening, his eyes went wide with horror.

"Marie! Ryan!" he screamed.

Only small pieces of their bodies remained.

The wolves were still biting and chewing without stopping.

"No!!!"

Dave’s hands started to shake.

The heavy mace in his grip trembled.

Blood and dirt covered it. For a few seconds, his mind went completely blank.

Drip.

A single drop of blood fell from the mace onto the ground.

That sound snapped him out of it. Rage and pain exploded inside his chest.

"You bastards!!!" he roared.

Dave jumped high into the air.

He raised the mace above his head with all his strength and came crashing down toward the giant wolf’s head.

But the giant wolf slowly lifted its face and looked straight into Dave’s eyes.

"Die, you shit!!!" Dave shouted as he fell toward it.

"Thwack!"

In the next instant, the wolf’s long horn pierced straight through Dave’s chest.

It did not move faster than the eye could see.

It used its time ability in a new and twisted way, pushing time forward on Dave’s body.

One moment he was in the air.

The next moment, the horn was already buried deep in his heart.

Dave’s eyes opened wide in shock. His mouth moved but no sound came out.

"Die..."

His fingers lost their grip.

The mace slipped from his hand and fell to the ground with a dull thud.

"Thud."

With that sound, Dave’s life ended too.

His soul tablet vanished from Lana’s storage at the same moment.

"Dave!!!" Lana finally screamed.

Her face turned white as paper.

She tried to move, tried to run to him, but her legs would not listen.

The giant wolf shook its body hard, throwing Dave’s lifeless body to the side like a broken toy.

Then, in one smooth step, the giant wolf appeared right in front of Lana.

It opened its bloody jaws and bit down.

Lana stood frozen. Grief and fear had locked every muscle in her body.

She wanted to run. She wanted to fight. But her body refused to move.

The shock was too heavy.

"Thwack!!!"

In the next instant, Lana found herself inside the giant wolf’s mouth.

Its long, sharp fangs sank deep into her throat, choking the life out of her.

The other teeth tore into her shoulders, chest, and stomach.

Hot blood filled her mouth. Pain exploded everywhere, but she could not even scream.

She stared out at the world with a dazed, empty gaze.

No sound came from her mouth. No scream.

No cry for help.

She just hung there, limp between the wolf’s jaws, while her life slowly drained away with every weak breath.

’Dave... Ryan... Marie...’

Memories flashed in her mind, clear as a bright sunny day.

The first time they all met at the academy.

The silly jokes they shared at night.

The times they stayed up laughing and planning how they would top their class.

The promise they made three years ago, smiling with bright eyes:

"We are friends for life."

Tears rolled down her cheeks and mixed with the blood.

But in the blink of an eye, everything was gone.

Their warm smiles had turned into lifeless bodies on the cold ground.

And now her own body would soon disappear too, eaten and torn apart like the others.

"I’m sorry..." she thought, her mind growing darker.

With that final thought, Lana’s soul finally left her body.

It rose slowly upwards, floating above the purple forest.

It flew higher and higher, a faint glowing light, until it vanished completely into the empty sky.

After killing everyone, the giant wolf opened its jaws wide and swallowed Lana whole without any trouble.

Her body slid down its throat in one smooth gulp.

The moment she disappeared inside, the giant wolf threw its head back and let out a deep, powerful howl.

"Howllll!!!!!!"

All the smaller purple wolves joined in at once.

Their howls mixed together into one loud, terrifying sound that rolled across the entire purple forest and echoed far into the distance.

"Sniff... sniff!"

The giant wolf lowered its head and sniffed the air carefully, searching for its next prey.

Its nose twitched. Soon it caught a strong scent. It turned its massive head toward the far east.

It sniffed again, deeper this time.

A confused look appeared on its scarred face.

It could clearly sense prey in that direction, but it also smelled its own kind.

Not normal wolves, these smelled exactly like itself. Strong. Dangerous. The same kind of power.

From far away, painful howls and roars suddenly filled the air.

They sounded full of agony, as if many wolves were being slaughtered without mercy.

The giant wolf stared toward the east with narrowed purple eyes.

It took one slow step forward.

But the moment its paw touched the ground, every instinct in its body screamed at it to stop.

Danger. Stay here. Do not go.

The warning was loud and clear inside its head.

Yet the giant wolf refused to listen.

Rage and hunger burned hotter than fear.

It burst forward like a raging fire, charging straight toward the east.

The entire pack followed right behind it.

Hundreds of purple wolves ran together, their eyes glowing with ferocious rage and greedy hunger for the hunt.

They did not know the truth.

The moment they reached that place, every single one of them would be massacred.
