Jocelyn Morgan asked, "And did you bring your girlfriend back?"

"No."

"Why not?" she asked anxiously, eyes wide, "Why didn’t you take this great opportunity to bring her? Are you really as they say—didn’t even have a girlfriend in the first place to refuse Melissa?"

"Who said that?" Finn caught the key point.

"The Mercer family elders. I heard them say if you didn’t bring your girlfriend home today, it means you don’t have one at all, just using it as an excuse to dodge Melissa."

"Childish," Finn dismissed it, "Do you believe it?"

"I don’t trust their judgment." Jocelyn smiled brightly, "Adults are always so self-assured, they don’t understand young people’s thoughts at all. But brother, why didn’t you bring her back?"

"She has more important things to do," Finn answered seriously.

The girl pouted a bit disappointedly, "I was really looking forward to meeting her. My brother’s girlfriend must be something special!"

"There will be chances in the future," Finn told her, "You can also come to Riventhal to visit."

"Sure!" Jocelyn saw Melissa walking over and quickly said, "Brother, the Mercer family arrived here early, acting like it’s their own place."
