Chapter 452 - 234: Ruins Excavation
Chapter 452 - 234: Ruins Excavation
Chadite carefully explored the area around the ruins. Even the silver ripples she emitted were clearly visible. The descending silver ripples clearly relayed the underground conditions to her. This allowed Chadite to simulate a three-dimensional model in her mind, enabling her to determine precisely which areas to excavate to save time and effort without damaging the ruins. Naturally, such precise exploration required more concentration and time.
While Chadite conducted her precise investigation, Simon began crafting a digging tool from scrap iron and some higher-quality components. Crafting such a simple and convenient tool was extremely easy for Simon, especially since he possessed the Hand of Precision and the Treasure. He even thoughtfully created a simple construct for the handle of this tool. It was a sharp, triangular shovel. Its sides could extend during digging to widen the excavation area. The construct on the handle improved control when the shovel entered the soil and could even help break through rocks if necessary.
Simon held it up, demonstrated its use to everyone, and then passed the first completed tool to Jason, who was beside him. Next, he crafted a larger shovel, specifically customized for Pororo, and gave it to him. After making a tool for everyone, Simon paused in thought for a moment before getting back to work.
Alka, swinging his own peculiar shovel, smiled as he watched the liquid metal in Simon’s hands change shape.
"Here, these are for you," Simon said with a smile, handing four palm-sized small shovels to Lucilia and the several Puppet Girls beside her.
"Thank you!" Lucilia accepted them happily. The Puppet Girls behind her, including Ling who had quickly swung over upon seeing the situation, also smiled.
Just then, Chadite stood up and patted the dirt from her hands. Various large and small marks, which she had made during her investigation, now dotted the area around the ruins.
"Dig down from here, within this square, and don’t go outside it," Chadite instructed, pointing to a square mark not far from her. Then, kicking the ground by her feet, she added, "Start here and dig diagonally towards that mark." She then gave instructions for each marked spot. This was the plan Chadite had formulated, designed to utilize everyone’s strengths to excavate the entire ruin quickly.
Once Chadite finished explaining the plan, everyone sprang into action.
Nearby, Simon watched Matilda digging with her four arms. He thought for a moment, then walked over to her. "Let me improve the tool in your hand," he offered. "It doesn’t seem to suit you very well right now."
"Ah? It’s fine, really. I can use this one well enough," Matilda said, waving her hand courteously. Although they had been together for several days, she was, after all, the last one to board the ship—and had even been pushed aboard by her grandfather. She was comfortable enough with Chadite and the other women, but she wasn’t as familiar with the men on the ship, like Alka.
"It’s no problem, really. No trouble at all for me, don’t worry," Simon said. He took the shovel from her hand and modified it, extending the handle so Matilda could use all four arms to exert greater strength without it feeling awkward.
Matilda swung the modified shovel a couple of times; it was indeed much better to use than before. The comfort level instantly improved by several notches. She nodded in satisfaction. "Thanks, this modification is great!"
Meanwhile, Pororo had already excavated the largest marked area into a giant pit. The gigantic shovel, combined with Pororo’s immense strength, resulted in an efficiency even more terrifying than an excavator’s. Each swing of his shovel dug out a huge mound of dirt. Chadite had specifically allocated this area to him, allowing Pororo to perfectly showcase his efficiency.
Chadite walked among the excavation areas, silver ripples constantly emanating from her feet to monitor the surroundings.
"Jason, you’re digging off course. Adjust back a bit."
"Juanlu, slow down. Going too fast is affecting the structure below."
Chadite, like a supervisor, adjusted everyone’s digging methods according to the situation. Her guidance, however, also significantly increased everyone’s excavation efficiency, and the entire digging operation proceeded in an orderly manner.
A massive mound of dirt was dug out by Pororo’s giant shovel. With a bit too much force, he hurled the entire clump of earth high into the sky. It soared through the air in an arc and landed with surprising precision.
POOF!
"Who did that!" Jason’s angry shout echoed from the pit he was digging. Such precision made it difficult not to wonder if it was deliberate.
Hearing Jason’s shout, Alka looked up, standing on his tiptoes to peer out of his pit. What’s going on? he wondered.
Hearing the noise, several other people around curiously peered over as well. They looked just in time to see another large clump of earth arcing through the sky. It flew over their heads, causing a shower of dirt to rain down. They hurriedly raised their shovels to shield themselves.
And once again, the largest clump landed right in Jason’s pit.
"Damn it! Who is it!"
Jason, now covered in mud, angrily crawled out of his hole.
