Chapter 432 - 227 - Broken Town_2

Chapter 432 - 227 - Broken Town_2

A wave of confusion passed through the group. Everyone looked at Lucilia with bewildered eyes.

Lucilia met their gazes and shrugged. "I really don’t know. There’s no record of this in the information we have. It’s like... no one would write instructions on how to open a door in an important place, would they?"

Though her explanation was reasonable, it was still hard for them to accept.

"Why don’t you repeat what you said when we first came down?" Alka suggested after a moment’s thought. After all, those words were what had brought them down here.

"I actually tried that already," Lucilia replied. "It didn’t work at all."

Lucilia then recited the Temple’s name again in that unknown language, but there was still no response.

Seeing this, Jason’s expression fell.

"We’re done for," Jason despaired. "Are we going to be trapped in this place?"

Alka frowned in thought for a moment, then nudged Chadite beside him with his elbow. "Do you have any map-making tools with you?"

Chadite turned around. Hearing this, he seemed to understand what Alka intended and nodded. "I did. I’ve also finished scouting this area. Should I start drawing now?"

Alka nodded. "Yes, draw it. Let’s see if we can find any clues."

Meanwhile, Jason turned to Lucilia. "Should we try some other words? Like ’go home’ or ’leave’ in that language?"

"I’ve tried all of those already," Lucilia said. "None of them worked."

"I don’t even know how long our food will last," Juanlu said as he began to check the dry rations in his storage Ring.

Just as Chadite took out his drawing board, Julia suddenly looked up. "The Magic Power concentration is rising!"

Her words instantly drew everyone’s attention.

Then, a ripple of Energy washed down from above, passing over them. Their bodies froze once more, and then they vanished from where they stood.

They felt a pulling sensation for a few seconds, and then their vision, which had gone dark, was filled with light again.

They reappeared among the ruins outside, in the same scattered positions they had been in moments before. This time, however, other people were present.

Alka stared at the group from a humanoid Race that had appeared before them. The group instantly tensed, ready for battle and on high alert.

This unknown Race before them had gray skin and orange-red eyes. They were the same intelligent Race Alka had seen in his Dream Realm vision the previous night—the inhabitants of this island.

Their leader, clad in leather armor and holding a bow, looked at them.

The leader spoke, "..."

Again, the words were incomprehensible, but the tone and intonation sounded very similar to the unknown language Lucilia had used earlier.

"’He said, ’I didn’t expect a group of outsiders,’’ Lucilia translated.

However, before she could speak for the group, the leader of the other Race seemed to think Lucilia was addressing him, albeit in a strange tongue. He paused, then adjusted, and spoke in the language Alka and the others used—the common tongue of the Homeland Sea.

"Can you understand this?" he asked. His accent was peculiar and the intonation a little strange, but thankfully, they could indeed understand him.

Alka nodded. "Yes, no problem. We understand you."

The man seemed relatively friendly. Recalling the information Alka had gleaned from his Dream Realm vision the night before, Alka slowly raised a hand, signaling his teammates not to be overly alarmed.

"That’s good!" The man seemed to understand their cautiousness. "I don’t know who you are, where you’re from, or what brings you to this island, but regardless, welcome," the gray-skinned man said with a very friendly smile.

"Allow me to introduce myself. I am Bai Shi, a patrol captain."

"Alka, captain of this Treasure Hunting Team."

Hearing Alka’s reply, the patrol captain, Bai Shi, nodded.

"Someone in your group must know the Sava language; otherwise, you couldn’t have activated this Temple."

The Sava language... that must be the language Lucilia spoke earlier, Alka realized, and nodded in acknowledgment.

Seeing Alka’s acknowledgment, Bai Shi continued, "This is the first time I’ve encountered outsiders who know this language. However, you mustn’t speak it carelessly on the island. Especially not around ruins like these. Absolutely do not speak it here. These ruins can be activated by the most random combinations of words, leading to unexpected effects."

As he spoke, he tilted his head, gesturing for them to look upwards. Above the ruins, they saw another member of his Race. Magic Power swirled around the man’s hands; he appeared to be casting a Spell. The Energy from his Spell bored into the ruins.

"These ruins can produce effects—good or bad, who knows. To deactivate them, you generally have to say the activating Spell in reverse, if that’s even possible. Alternatively, one can use a Spell power reversal, but such an effect requires continuous maintenance."

Finished speaking, Bai Shi looked up at the man on the ruins and called out in their own language, "Yuanmu, it’s alright now! The ruins’ effect was teleportation; the people have returned."

Alka understood this because Lucilia was quietly translating in his ear.

He then turned back to Alka and the others. "If you don’t mind, you’re welcome to come to our small town. Don’t worry, we often have visitors from outside, and we maintain normal trade relations with some of them. Of course, if you’d rather not, that’s fine too. Just remember what I said: don’t speak carelessly near any ruins."
