Treasure Hunting System: The Ocean Conquerer

Chapter 423 - 224: Broken Island Residents_2

Chapter 423 - 224: Broken Island Residents_2

When confronted with this question, the man before him indeed raised his head. He looked at Alka, a surprising smile appearing on his face.

"Hunting? No, I’ve already succeeded in my hunt."

With that, he stood up and went inside the house, dragging out a massive object.

Alka glanced at the triangular wooden cabin.

Based on his assessment, the interior of such a cabin clearly couldn’t accommodate this gigantic prey. This was merely a method of presentation. In the Dream Realm, it’s understandable.

Then Alka looked at the giant creature being dragged out.

It was something akin to a deer. The antlers on its head crossed and interlocked; the left antler extended to touch the right, then branched upwards from the right side, while the right antler branched in the opposite direction. The middle section of the upper antlers formed an ’X’ shape. Its entire coat was pure black, and it had a slender, sharp tail like that of a Demon.

Alka estimated its size: roughly six meters long and nearly two meters high.

For humans, this was undoubtedly a colossal creature.

At Alka’s earlier question, the man before him began to introduce the creature enthusiastically.

"A Thunder Beast! See the length of its antlers? It must have been a Warrior within its herd. With its antlers and its tail, I can receive another totem."

"Then..." He gave a smug chuckle, "HMPH HMPH, HA HA HA HA!"

The man before him launched into an inexplicable daydream.

Alka was silent for a moment.

It was the first time he had encountered such an assertive Dream Realm host. After a moment’s thought, he could somewhat understand. It was like someone catching a gigantic fish and then parading it down the street, desperate for everyone to know about their big catch. Alka had seen Jason behave like this many times, so he was quite familiar with it. This meant the man had genuinely hunted such prey in reality, and it was now reflected in his Dream Realm. Such occurrences were quite normal.

Following this line of thought, Alka asked, "With its antlers and tail, you can...?"

"I’ll be able to receive the Thunder Pattern! Then, perhaps I can become a Warrior of the tribe and even master the power of Thunder!"

As he spoke, he showed Alka the totem patterns on his arms. The totem patterns extended from his upper arms all the way to his shoulder blades, with different designs on each side. One totem looked like some kind of feline, while the other resembled a wild boar.

Hearing the man’s words, Alka squinted his eyes in contemplation. Then he asked, "So, those two materials you mentioned—are they transformed into something and then carved onto your body?"

The man in front of him nodded.

Just as I thought.

Alka then inquired about the creatures he had hunted for the two existing totems on his body. As soon as the questions turned to the creatures he had hunted, the man would eagerly launch into detailed explanations for Alka. From his descriptions, Alka learned that the two creatures previously hunted had power levels equivalent to One Spiral and Two Spirals, respectively. The deer-like creature, however, had reached Three Spirals.

A gradual progression, then. So the markings on his body were indeed carved using materials sourced from these creatures, allowing him to harness their power. Isn’t this just using Spell Materials? Not learning the Spell itself, but crudely carving its materials onto the body to harness the Spell’s power—isn’t that too rash? Looking at this man, it was apparent his entire tribe did this. This is entirely the method of an Engraver. Moreover, it’s treating people like objects to be carved.

Based on what Alka knew, this wasn’t unheard of in the Homeland Sea. However, ordinary people’s bodies simply couldn’t withstand such pressure. Furthermore, ordinary people possessed no Magic Power, so even if such markings were carved onto them, they couldn’t be activated. Yet, such a method would be of little practical value for practitioners. After all, individuals capable of enduring and utilizing such markings could naturally learn the Spells themselves, allowing for far more versatile and fluid application. So, is this a method unique to the Endless Sea? Or is it a technique specific to the race of the man before him?

Alka didn’t know. He casually asked a few more questions, but the man no longer responded. He only cared about questions related to his prey and associated matters.

Alka left the man’s Dream Realm.

There were plenty of Dream Bubbles in the vicinity. If Alka could find suitable Dream Realm hosts to question, he could gather enough information and intelligence. He casually chose a neighboring Dream Bubble and entered it, taking the opportunity to clear away the Dream Realm creatures lingering around it.

Through extensive inquiries, Alka finally obtained some of the information he sought.

First, the place where these people lived was indeed an Island, albeit a vast one. Alka inquired and learned that their settlement was the only one formed by intelligent beings on the Island. These people called themselves Broken Islanders and still considered themselves human. This was because the Island itself was called Broken Island. However, Alka didn’t manage to find out why the Island bore this name, as most of the inhabitants didn’t know the reason themselves.

Secondly, Alka gained a rough understanding of the power structure on their Island. The Island was populated by numerous powerful creatures. No, they could no longer be called mere beasts. They could more accurately be termed magical beasts. Based on the information Alka had gathered, he inferred that some of these magical beasts even reached the Second Stage of power.
