Chapter 421 - 223: Settlement in the Dream Realm_3

Soon, the first waves Alka sent out for detection reflected back. Many light waves were reflected. Subsequently, the reflected waves became increasingly numerous, densely packed. Alka immediately shielded himself from these waves and shut down the detection. The returning waves were like countless sharp alarms ringing frantically in his ears. Such a large number of waves surely indicated the presence of Intelligent Life nearby, on this Island. The reflected waves were, after all, coming from the direction of the Island.

Alka calculated the distance of the reflections. After some thought, he decided against using the pink mist to advance as he had before. Instead, he transformed into the guise of a Dream Death God and began to fly swiftly. This way, he could conduct reconnaissance to a certain extent without alarming the surrounding light shadow creatures. If he revealed his true form and used the pink mist for propulsion, it would definitely alarm the creatures in the vicinity. It was very likely he would scare away those dream creatures possessing a certain degree of intelligence. His experiences as the Dream Death God and the black shadow giant had already shown him that, in the Dream Realm, he possessed attributes that made him a natural enemy to some creatures. Seeing him would only cause them to flee wildly, which was clearly not conducive to his observation of the Dream Realm.

As he flew swiftly, the surrounding environment came into view. He saw two or three of the once-rare Dream Death Gods in just a short while. Moreover, when Alka, in his Dream Death God form, flew over their heads, they all cast slightly attentive glances his way. Alka also saw many different dream creatures. However, most were on par with the Dream Death God and the black shadow giant, differing only slightly in appearance. Normally, Alka would have observed them carefully, but now was clearly not the time. Moreover, these creatures in the Dream Realm were constantly fighting and preying on each other.

After a brief observation, Alka found that the creatures in the Dream Realm were roughly divided into three categories: light shadow, black shadow, and mist-like.

Light shadow creatures resembled beings formed by a twisting Combination of various colors; the Dream Death God belonged to this category. Their robes constantly changed color but still maintained their appearance of twisting light and shadow.

Black shadow creatures, as their name suggested, were entirely pure black shadows, like the black shadow giant he had encountered earlier.

Then there were the mist-like creatures. These were the rarest; he had only encountered them a few times in the Dream Realm along his previous route, mostly small creatures resembling birds. Here, they were slightly less rare, but still much scarcer than black shadow or light shadow creatures. Moreover, these mist-like creatures almost never attacked the Dream Bubbles; at least, he hadn’t seen any do so yet. And neither light shadow nor black shadow creatures would attack them.

Black shadow creatures were the most aggressive and also the most numerous. They attacked light shadow creatures and even each other. Alka noted that while some black shadow creatures destroyed Dream Bubbles for sustenance, others seemed to do so purely for the sake of destruction.

Light shadow creatures were not highly aggressive, but they would still fight with black shadow creatures. They destroyed Dream Bubbles for sustenance. At least, during this recent part of his journey, Alka hadn’t seen any light shadow creatures destroy Dream Bubbles without also feeding on them. He also hadn’t observed light shadow creatures attacking each other.

Based on his current observations, mist-like creatures seemed to be quite different existences in this Dream World. He still hadn’t discovered their exact purpose, but they didn’t attack other creatures, nor did they attack Dream Bubbles.

Black shadow creatures exhibited traits typical of villains. They slaughtered each other, were highly aggressive, and possessed an extreme desire for destruction. Yet, among them were intelligent beings, like the black shadow giant from earlier.

Light shadow creatures, on the other hand, appeared to be normal inhabitants of the Dream Realm, destroying Dream Bubbles for sustenance. When encountering black shadow creatures, they would either evade or attack; their aggression was much lower than that of the black shadow creatures.

He wondered if there were other types of dream creatures.

Alka continued his observations. So far, he hadn’t discovered any particularly powerful dream creatures; the most powerful seemed to be at the level of giants and Death Gods. He continued to fly at high speed, observing all the while.

After covering a considerable distance, Alka finally reached the area from which the waves had rebounded. Among all the radiating waves, almost three-quarters were clustered together, indicating that this corresponded to some kind of settlement in reality. The scene before him confirmed this. Countless Dream Bubbles, large and small, were squeezed together in a cluster. The surfaces of these Dream Bubbles were hazy, making it hard to discern the situation inside. So many clustered together meant he could basically confirm that this was a settlement of intelligent beings. Correspondingly, many dream creatures were preying nearby as well.
