Chapter 419 - 223 Settlements in the Dream Realm
Chapter 419 - 223 Settlements in the Dream Realm
After confirming there were no changes in his Dream Realm other than that silver Energy, Alka willed himself to fly, arriving beside his Dream Bubble’s membrane, but he didn’t pass through it immediately. He thinned the membrane, allowing him to see the situation outside. A quick glance revealed no major changes; it was still filled with bizarre lights and shadows, and clouds of various colors drifted by, just as it had been on the forward route. Only then did Alka poke his head out.
As soon as he emerged, he discovered a light-and-shadow creature he had never seen before slowly approaching his Dream Bubble. Right before his eyes, it began to cut into his Dream Bubble with two sharp claws. The damage these claws inflicted on the Dream Bubble was not trivial, unlike that from the weaker light-and-shadow creatures encountered on the forward route; they were truly stirring ripples in Alka’s Dream Bubble. Given the intensity of these ripples, even a whole night of slicing might not significantly harm the Dream Bubble. However, this already demonstrated its difference from the weaker light-and-shadow creatures he had encountered before.
A pink spear materialized in Alka’s hand, and he immediately hurled it. The instant it was thrown, the pink spear vanished. When it reappeared, it had already pierced completely through the light-and-shadow creature. The spear instantly disintegrated, transforming into a pink mist that completely enveloped the creature. The creature, formed of strange light, was visibly terrified and struggled desperately. However, its struggles were futile. The pink mist enveloped it tightly like a cocoon, then compressed it until it transformed into a smooth, pink ball of mist that drifted into Alka’s palm.
Alka examined the pink mist ball in his palm. This ball was larger than any he had obtained before, indicating that the loot inside was of better quality. The mist balls he had previously acquired were small enough to be held in one hand, but this one was nearly half the size of his head. The mist covering its surface dissipated and merged into Alka’s body, while the loot it contained dropped into his hand.
It was a... pitch-black wooden branch. Two twigs of different lengths extended from it, and a small, black leaf dangled beneath them. It looked as if it had just been freshly broken off a tree.
This must be some kind of material.
It was a wooden material that, while possessing the usual Dream Attribute, seemed to carry more of a nourishing property.
Although it was his first time seeing such a material, he had no clue about this particular attribute.
Unsure how to use it, Alka simply tossed it into his Dream Bubble.
Then, he surveyed his surroundings. Dream Bubbles of various sizes floated all around him. Possibly because he was near the Island’s boundary, there were also numerous Dream Bubbles belonging to land creatures. However, without exception, these Dream Bubbles were small and completely transparent, indicating these were all the Dream Realms of ordinary beasts.
Lowering his head, Alka looked towards his crewmates’ Dream Bubbles. This sight made Alka frown. When he gazed at Simon’s Dream Bubble, a dangerous glint flickered in his eyes. Even after some time spent recuperating, Simon’s Dream Bubble was still somewhat dim compared to the others’. It still bore very fine cracks; the wound to his soul had not healed easily. This was even after their Divine had used a Treasure to perform some slight repairs. Such a Dream Bubble, situated among theirs, looked conspicuously like a soft target. And soft targets naturally attract predators.
A massive, humanoid shadow giant, about three meters tall, was using its hands to try and tear an opening in the edge of Simon’s Dream Bubble. The problem was, it had already succeeded in opening a gap, and fine pink particles were beginning to leak out. The giant was devouring these particles while trying to insert its fingers into the opening, attempting to pry the gash in the Dream Bubble wider. This was the first time Alka had seen one of his crew members’ Dream Bubbles sustain damage.
A Mirror Surface instantly materialized before his face. The attire of the Dream Death God appeared on him, and a giant black Scythe formed in his hand. The trajectory traced by the Scythe, however, was pink. A massive amount of Energy infused the Scythe, which Alka then hurled. The Scythe spun rapidly in a Spiral and then vanished, only to reappear an instant later with its blade already plunged deep into the small giant’s body.
A soundless roar transmitted through the ensuing fluctuations; Alka could feel the shadow giant’s agony. But he showed no mercy. Two more pink spears materialized in his hands, and he swiftly hurled them. The spears arrived in an instant, piercing its body from two more places.
The monster finally realized someone was attacking it from behind and whirled around to see Alka. Upon seeing Alka in his Dream Death God attire, it showed no fear. Instead, it expressed only rage, letting out a furious roar. Then, several slender arms sprouted from its armpits, tightly gripping the embedded Scythe and fixing it firmly in its body. It then broke into a sprint, its feet seeming to stomp on empty air as it charged towards Alka.
This action made Alka furrow his brows.
This shadow giant must have fought a Dream Death God before.
When those shadowy, slender arms gripped the Scythe—a construct of light and shadow—Alka completely lost control of it. It was now pinned firmly within the giant’s body.
