Chapter 395 - 215: Sun Arm Guard
It was approaching noon.
Jason finally emerged from his room, yawning. He usually kept watch at night, so he slept in late and was generally the last one in the team to get up. Rubbing his sleep-filled eyes, Jason slowly walked towards the stairs.
Suddenly, his legs were caught by something, causing him to trip. He immediately tumbled down like a ball, landing on the deck below.
Jason lay there on the deck, bewildered.
What happened? What tripped me?
Just then, a laugh like silver bells echoed nearby.
Jason immediately scrambled to his feet and looked up. He saw the silver-haired Two sitting on the edge of the second-floor railing, laughing heartily. In her hand, she twirled a thin Silver Thread.
So that’s what tripped me.
"Damn it, you again! You’re getting more and more mischievous," Jason exclaimed, a mix of helplessness and anger in his voice as he looked at the laughing Two.
Lately, Two’s Spirituality had been growing stronger, and correspondingly, she had become more mischievous. She had even started pulling pranks to amuse herself by teasing others.
As Two was laughing, she suddenly flew into the air. Turning her head, she saw Chadite staring at her with a frown.
Seeing Chadite looking somewhat angry, Two immediately lowered her head, and her laughter died abruptly.
"You’re causing trouble again!" Chadite said, somewhat angrily. Then, with a sigh of helplessness, she lifted Two onto her shoulder. "I wonder who you take after, or where you learned this from," Chadite mused aloud.
Julia, who was just passing by the side of the deck, overheard this. She glanced up at Chadite for a moment, then silently turned and walked away.
Jason, still sitting on the deck, wanted to say something but kept his mouth shut.
Just now, Gami came to mind, and some of the stories Gami had told them about Chadite’s own mischievous childhood. It further confirmed Alka’s recent theory: the current Two was essentially Chadite as a child. But I daren’t say that out loud right now. Two has been showing a violent streak lately, and who knows if Chadite still has that hidden away. If I blurted it out and Chadite flew into a rage, her punch would really hurt.
Just then, Ling, dressed in a form-fitting maid outfit, suddenly emerged from the shadows in a corner.
"Two, the Master is calling you."
Hearing this, Two nodded. Her Silver Threads extended, wrapped around a cable, and she swung down.
Watching Ling disappear back into the shadows of the corner, Chadite couldn’t help but remark, "Her movements are becoming more and more elusive."
Jason, opposite her, nodded in agreement.
Because these dolls weren’t actual people, they lacked true souls, making it difficult for them to use Spells, even though they possessed Magic Power Conduction. Therefore, Alka had specially engraved Spells on each doll to enhance them. At Ling’s request, a complete set of assassin Spells had been engraved on her.
Thinking of this, Chadite suddenly asked, "Has One’s modifications been completed?"
Jason shook his head. "I’m not sure. It should be soon, though. Weren’t they doing the engraving just last night? Plus, Simon is helping now."
Ever since Simon came aboard, the manufacturing hall on the Sound of Dawn had a new regular visitor. Grateful to everyone for rescuing him and for helping to free his former crew members, Simon had written down all the Spells he knew and placed them in the library.
These Spells included some commonly used ones and some with widespread applicability, but also over twenty Spells they had never encountered before. The crew had been diligently studying these new Spells recently. Of course, they weren’t learning all of them, just the ones they found interesting and that fit their combat styles.
Simon knew almost all of these Spells; the only question was his proficiency with them. With him around, the crew hardly needed Spell Materials for assistance.
The chatting pair arrived at the small flower bed in the center of the open-air deck.
Standing by the flower bed were the ship’s four dolls; three of them, members of the Puppet Knight Order, were all learning from Lucilia. After long practice, Lucilia had essentially developed a combat style suitable for the dolls. Based on this combat style, she had also equipped the three dolls with different weapons. These weapons were, of course, the result of Alka and Simon’s collaboration.
"So, One’s enhancements are complete," Chadite murmured, looking closely at One, who was training behind Lucilia.
At this point, One’s bow, used for firing short needles, was gone. In its place was a spear strapped to her back, taller than she was. The entire spear was crafted from a single piece of transparent crystal, the material likely sourced from treasures they had previously obtained.
The spear emanated a familiar sensation to Chadite. Then she realized where this feeling originated—it seemed to be from the Ring of Light. She suddenly recalled Alka asking for her help a few days ago: to engrave a light-focusing Spell into a piece of transparent crystal. Alka had mentioned it would be best if done with the aid of the Ring of Light, and even better if it could be enhanced.
It seems that crystal was indeed used to create this weapon, Chadite thought.
