Chapter 525 - 524: The Palpitation and Heart-Throbbing Feeling (Part 1)

Yang Sheng accompanied Le Tong and Ji Rui for a chat lasting about an hour. The phone rang a few times but Yang Sheng answered only when he was rather impatient."Alright, alright, I’m coming back now!"

Le Tong and Ji Rui exchanged a glance, both with knowing looks in their eyes.

"Your grandfather?" Although she already knew the answer in her heart, Le Tong still deliberately asked after Yang Sheng hung up the phone.

"Who else but that old demon?" Yang Sheng put on his jacket with much displeasure.

"I was thinking we could have a few drinks with Rui tonight, but it seems it’ll have to wait until tomorrow night."

Le Tong and Ji Rui escorted him to the door; Yang Sheng patted Ji Rui on the shoulder, "Hang in there, I’ll try to come up with a solution!"

Ji Rui nodded, not saying much, while Yang Sheng shifted his position to stand in front of Le Tong and before Ji Rui could react, pulled Le Tong gently into his arms, "Take good care of Rui!"

His words were spoken very softly, but Le Tong heard them clearly, "Mm, you take care too!"

Before Ji Rui could turn a dark face to chase him out, Yang Sheng released Le Tong, "Remember to be on time tomorrow!"

The two escorted Yang Sheng to the elevator, watching as he walked in, and as the elevator doors closed, Ji Rui finally turned a dark face to ask Le Tong, "What did Yang Sheng say to you just now?"

Le Tong didn’t react at first, thinking he was asking about the content of the conversation Yang Sheng had when he went to answer the phone earlier.

"Eh?"

"Just now, did he say something secretive to you?"

Le Tong blinked, "Of course he was talking bad about you!"

Ji Rui tightly held her hand in silence as they returned to the hotel suite, "Did Yang Sheng chase after you before?"

Looking into Ji Rui’s deep and difficult-to-read gaze, Le Tong recalled that Ji Rui had asked her this question before.

"Relax, really, no!" Le Tong shrugged, thinking the man has been really petty lately, "Professor Liu did try to match us up, however, we never sparked any mutual feelings. The first time I met with my senior, it felt instantly like old friends, perhaps precisely because we felt very familiar, it’s hard to develop the romantic tension or excitement between a couple."

Ji Rui’s eyes flickered, his long arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her close, foreheads touching, his deep eyes looking straight into hers.

"When you first met me, did you have that sense of familiarity?"

Ji Rui’s voice was low and deep, a kind of hoarse timbre that seemed to blend seamlessly with the night.

Le Tong chuckled, winking at him, "Nope, does President Ji give people a sense of familiarity? Saying that would be ridiculous!"

Ji Rui curled his lips, lightly touching hers, "If not familiarity, then was it excitement and heart fluttering?"

Ji Rui’s tone was exceptionally gentle, and the slightly upturned corners of his lips carried an inexplicable hint of teasing and allure.

Le Tong raised a hand to hook around his neck, stood on tiptoe, and kissed the corner of his lips that held an inviting curve, "Yes, seeing your poker face that’s as stiff as an iron board freaked me out so much that I was trembling in fear..."

Ji Rui turned his head to look at her straight on, "So, is that what excitement feels like?" he murmured, before pressing his lips against hers.

Ji Rui’s lips were tinged with the faint taste of red wine, gently pecking at Le Tong’s lips, the faint scent of wine subtly wafted into Le Tong’s nose.

"Smells good..." Le Tong didn’t know why she blurted out such an anticlimactic remark.

"Mm?!" Ji Rui paused, his lips still pressed against hers, patiently waiting for her to continue.

Le Tong’s mind was stuck but she answered instinctively, "The wine smells good..."

Ji Rui chuckled softly, kissed her again, "Craving wine?"

Le Tong glared at him, "You didn’t let me drink it..."

Earlier, Ji Rui and Yang Sheng had opened a bottle supposedly a limited edition wine, without letting her taste a single drop. Of course, it was said to be for her own good.

Ji Rui looked at her thoughtfully, "You really want to drink?"

Le Tong stayed silent, knowing he surely wouldn’t let her drink. Was it entertaining or fun for him to tease her like this?

"You can drink if you want, I’ll feed you?"

Ji Rui’s voice was even deeper than before, with a clear hint of teasing in the amusement in his smile.

Le Tong shook her head; she wasn’t nearly as smart as Ji Rui, but wouldn’t watch as someone dug a pit then jump in herself!

Seeing her not taking the bait, Ji Rui said no more and lowered his head to kiss her lips again...

"Oops..."

Baobao’s startled shout suddenly interrupted their intimacy. Le Tong was about to push Ji Rui away but stopped when she heard Baobao’s Ghost Spirit-like words, "Oops, why can’t I see anything? How strange..."

Then, the sound of a door closing followed.

Held tightly by Ji Rui, Le Tong still wanted to push away but Ji Rui coaxed her with a smile, "Don’t worry, Baobao has already gone back to his room."

It wasn’t until Le Tong finished her shower and climbed into bed that she was still concerned.

"Ji Rui, do you think Baobao..."

Ji Rui took the towel from her hand, patted the spot in front of him to indicate for her to sit there, and began helping her dry her wet hair while speaking.

"What are you really worried about? You’ve been sleeping with me these past few days, do you really think Baobao knows nothing?"

Le Tong was left speechless, and after a short pause, she anxiously said, "Baobao is so precocious, and he saw us... do you think it might affect him negatively?"

Ji Rui leaned down and nibbled her earlobe, catching her off guard and making her shudder.

"If we were fighting in front of Baobao all day, then yes, it would be negative. A loving relationship between parents will only help the child’s mental health, and their personality will be more positive."

Le Tong slightly relaxed.

"Silly, if we were always distant and polite, Baobao would really worry."

Le Tong said nothing, letting Ji Rui help her dry her hair for a while, then he brought over a blow dryer, his long fingers picking up her soft hair to gently and attentively dry it.

"Since we’re here on a trip, do you want to stay a few extra days before heading back?"

Ji Rui asked while blow-drying.

Without much thought, Le Tong shook her head, "Forget it, the weather here is too cold, I’m afraid Baobao and Nuonuo can’t handle it. Let’s stick to the original plan and fly back the day after tomorrow."

Worrying that the two kids might not acclimate to the weather here was one factor, another reason was what she learned from Yang Sheng about the real situation, which made her only want to return to R City soon to allow Ji Rui more time to figure out a solution.

Ji Rui seemed surprised by her answer, but after carefully looking at Le Tong again, confirming she had no intention to stay a few more days for play, he said.

"Alright then, we’ll return the day after tomorrow as originally planned."

That night naturally, Le Tong continued to sleep with Ji Rui. After several nights sharing the same bed, she fully trusted Ji Rui and had been sleeping well the previous nights.
