Chapter 511 - 510: Trying to Get Used to Being Taken Care of (Part 1)

Early the next morning, a still groggy Baobao rubbed his eyes and came out, surprised to see Le Tong carrying breakfast into the dining room.

"Mommy, aren’t you at Aunt Yuan’er’s house?"

Le Tong glanced at the man burying his head in his porridge, recalling how she painstakingly pulled him out of a corner last night. It was both hilarious and infuriating.

"Ask your daddy."

Ji Rui lifted his head and replied confidently, "Mommy was being naughty, so Daddy tied her up and brought her back."

Of course, Baobao wouldn’t believe this. Daddy loves Mommy so much; he probably wouldn’t bear to touch a single hair on her head, let alone tie her up.

Liar!

The little guy hummed to himself but said nothing. He knew his daddy wouldn’t have the heart to bully Mommy, so he climbed into his chair with peace of mind and started gulping down his porridge.

"Mommy, when are we going to Aunt Yuan’er’s house?"

Baobao’s face lit up with excitement. After all, it had been nearly a year since he attended such a lively event, and being just a six-year-old child, he naturally had a playful and boisterous disposition.

"We’re not going to her house anymore; we’re going directly to the resort."

The venue for Yuan’er’s wedding wasn’t at the Luo Family house; it was at a seaside resort. This resort is reputedly called Little Maldives, with stunning sea views.

The resort was a bit far from the city, taking almost two hours by car to reach the picturesque place they heard about.

In the car, Le Tong accidentally fell asleep and was awoken by Baobao’s cheerful shouting.

"Wow, the sky is so blue, Mommy look, it’s a seagull!"

Previously, Mr. Ji didn’t like taking Baobao out to play, and except for playing with him for a few days on his fifth birthday, Ji Rui rarely took Baobao on trips, so Baobao, already six, hadn’t been to the beach many times.

"Mommy, I want to play!"

Baobao pointed to the fine white sand on the roadside, full of anticipation.

Le Tong felt her heart soften, but she wasn’t familiar with the surroundings here, so she leaned over to ask Xiao Li, "Brother Li, is it far from here to the wedding site?"

Xiao Li checked the navigation map, "Not far, probably just a few hundred meters."

Le Tong looked outside; with sunny weather, it shouldn’t be too cold.

"Shall we get off and walk over?" Le Tong turned to Ji Rui.

Ji Rui rolled down the car window, reached out to feel the temperature, confirmed it wasn’t too cold, and nodded.

"Alright, it’s still early anyway, let’s walk over."

The car stopped, and Baobao eagerly jumped out.

"Wow, such a big beach, so beautiful!"

Baobao laughed and shouted as he jumped on the sand, his excitement bringing smiles to Le Tong and Ji Rui’s faces.

Baobao ran towards the incoming waves in excitement, but Le Tong, afraid he might get wet, quickly chased after him.

When she pulled Baobao back to the dry sand, Ji Rui stuffed the clothes he was holding into her arms.

"The wind is strong; put on your coat and scarf."

Le Tong obediently wore her coat and looped on a scarf. Meanwhile, Ji Rui had already wrapped Baobao into a round little pig with layers.

"Daddy, Baobao doesn’t want to wear this!" Baobao raised his hands in protest.

"No way!" Baobao asked Ji Rui, but the reply came from both Daddy and Mommy in unison, vetoing his request!

Baobao pouted and looked unhappy.

"Baobao doesn’t have to wear it if you stay in the car!" Le Tong never compromises on principled matters.

With a hat on his head, a down jacket on his body, showing only his little face, Baobao tilted his head to think for a moment, then finally chose to compromise.

"Fine, Baobao will wear it..."

Ji Rui contentedly took his gloved hand, turned to look at Le Tong, and pointed at her pocket, "The gloves are in your pocket, put them on."

Le Tong was stunned for a moment. Previously, she was always the one taking care of others, rarely having experiences where she was cared for, so she wasn’t used to this role of being taken care of.

"Deaf?" Ji Rui raised an eyebrow.

Only then did Le Tong stupidly say "Oh," rummaged through her pocket, and pulled out a pair of thick cotton gloves to wear.

"Daddy, hold Mommy’s hand..." Baobao wiggled the hand Ji Rui was holding, batting his pretty eyes to subtly express his own desire.

How could Ji Rui not know this little guy wanted to let go of them and play by himself?

However, the little guy’s idea played right into his hands because he also wanted to spend some time alone with Le Tong.

Letting go of Baobao’s hand, he turned and extended his hand to the woman who was slowly dragging her feet like a snail.

"Silly, come over!" The man still seemed a bit grumpy from this morning.

Le Tong pursed her lips and muttered softly, "Stingy..."

"Hm?! What did you say?" The man wrapped her hand and leaned over, giving her face a playful nibble.

"I said you’re stingy!" Le Tong hadn’t dared to provoke him in the heat of the moment last night, but now, she wasn’t afraid.

"Who’s stingy? Go ahead and ask other men if they can tolerate their girlfriend going out to drink with her ex-boyfriend in the dead of night?" Ji Rui retorted righteously!

Le Tong clicked her tongue, "Mr. Ji, your words are seriously misleading! First, Yifan is not my ex-boyfriend, and second, we didn’t go out drinking."

Ji Rui turned his head to look at the sea, no longer looking at her, but still held her hand without letting go.

Le Tong found it amusing and said nothing more, focusing her gaze ahead.

Up ahead, their Baobao ran freely like a wild horse, loudly singing a jumbled medley of songs only understandable to him, hopping and stopping along the beach.

"Hey, what’s our darling son singing?"

She couldn’t understand anything about the tune or the lyrics.

"A French nursery rhyme..." Ji Rui reluctantly grunted.

Le Tong was both embarrassed and amused. Her son was only six, yet despite being a university graduate, she often felt a sense of illiteracy and inadequacy in front of him!

"Why does wood burn in a fire?

It’s so we can feel as warm as a blanket.

Why does the ocean have low tides?"

It’s so people can say: again!"

"That’s the gist of the lyrics he was repeating just now..." Ji Rui kindly translated for the "illiterate."

Le Tong found the meaning of the nursery rhyme quite good, listened closely again, and realized the little guy’s singing had changed, "What about now these few lines?"

Ji Rui listened intently and then hummed in a magnetic voice,

"Why do our hearts go ’tick’?

Because the rain goes ’drip’.

Why does time run so fast?

It’s because the wind blows it all away.

Why do you want me to hold your hand?

Because with you, I feel warm!"

In this vast space, accompanied by the distant sound of the waves, Ji Rui’s deep, magnetic narration was especially pleasant to hear.
