Chapter 460: Just Give In to Sis, Okay? (Part 3)

Whether it was Ji Rui’s pitiful act that worked, or his determination that was much more tangible than a verbal promise that moved Le Tong, anyway, by the next day, Lawyer Fan had no trouble at all getting Le Tong to sign her name on the transfer deeds and wills.Of course, on certain details, Ji Rui still respected Le Tong’s wishes and made modifications. An additional clause was added to the transfer deed that in Ji Rui’s presence, Le Tong must have both her and Ji Rui’s joint signatures to utilize the asset.

After Le Tong signed both documents, she calmly turned around and went about her own business, as if Ji Rui’s 30% asset was not enough to stir even the slightest emotional response from her.

Initially, after Le Tong insisted on adding the joint signature condition, Lawyer Fan’s impression of her improved significantly. Now, seeing her continue with her work as if nothing happened, his liking for her increased even more.

"Mr. Ji, Miss Le’s personality really doesn’t seem like that of a girl from an ordinary family."

Lawyer Fan was tidying up the documents, but his gaze was on the door that closed gently.

"Hmm? Why do you say that?"

In Ji Rui’s eyes, Le Tong was perfect in countless ways, but he had never seriously examined or categorized what made her so good specifically.

Hearing Lawyer Fan’s comment now piqued his interest. He wanted to know what kind of woman Le Tong was in others’ eyes, and whether it matched what he saw.

"Miss Le’s original financial condition wasn’t very good, was it?"

Because of Le Tong’s robbery incident, Lawyer Fan had some private interactions with her and learned a bit about her situation.

"Hmm, it was indeed average."

By Ji Rui’s standards, Le Tong’s financial status was utterly terrible, but he wouldn’t say such things to belittle her now.

"Her financial situation, for an ordinary person, would only be considered average. Yet, she just signed two documents safeguarding assets worth hundreds of billions overnight—becoming a super-rich person—yet she didn’t even blink. Such mental fortitude is uncommon among ordinary people, isn’t it?"

Lawyer Fan’s analysis was thorough, but Ji Rui didn’t agree.

"Lawyer Fan, you’re overthinking it. In her view, although she signed those documents, she doesn’t truly regard those assets as hers. That’s why she remains so calm and nonchalant."

In Ji Rui’s eyes, Le Tong was still the simple girl who would be overjoyed by a hundred or so yuan for overtime pay. Lawyer Fan’s words sounded a bit like flattery to him.

Lawyer Fan realized Ji Rui didn’t believe him, "Mr. Ji, some temperament is innate, or you could say it’s from birth. This should be evident in the young master too, right? You might find there are places where the young master and Miss Le are very alike."

Lawyer Fan was aware of Baobao being raised by Mr. Ji without seeing his mom until the age of five. Before seeing the paternity test, Lawyer Fan even suspected Le Tong might have tricked Ji Rui into believing she was Baobao’s biological mother.

Ji Rui thought carefully and had to admit that Lawyer Fan made a valid point.

"Indeed, Baobao’s personality and way of thinking seem more like Le Tong’s than mine."

"So, the time Miss Le has spent living with Baobao is only about half a year. Saying it’s due to subtle influence isn’t quite accurate, calling it hereditary would be more precise."

Lawyer Fan’s words reminded Ji Rui of the Jade Pendant Le Tong gave to Baobao.

Ordinary families couldn’t afford such a costly Jade Pendant. According to Le Tong, the pendant wasn’t bought by her father but had been passed down through many generations in their family.

"These are just speculations from us. In reality, she’s indeed just an ordinary person from an ordinary background."

Le Tong didn’t want to explore her own background, so Ji Rui naturally respected her will, even though he too was curious about her lineage at times.

"Maybe, I am overthinking it."

Lawyer Fan didn’t argue further. After discussing Ji Rui’s asset matters for a while, Lawyer Fan got up to leave.

The bonus for the one percent in advertising fees was split by Le Tong among the advertising staff involved in the project, and she handed over her portion to Ji Rui.

Ji Rui was busy at first. When he received the check, he initially thought it was from the finance department for him to sign. But upon noticing Le Tong’s name on it, he puzzledly held the check and looked at her.

"Why are you giving me this?"

"It’s for living expenses!" Le Tong answered him earnestly.

Her righteous demeanor left Ji Rui both amused and exasperated.

"Didn’t you give me some money a few days ago? Why are you giving me more now?"

Ji Rui, feeling helpless, was left with the impression that Le Tong was treating him like a kept man.

"The money from a few days ago was for rent; this is for food expenses and my medicine costs."

Although Ji Rui never revealed the cost of the herbal medicine, Le Tong instinctively felt it wasn’t cheap.

Ji Rui’s mouth twitched; if he could, he would have liked to pull her onto his lap and give her a good spanking to relieve his frustration.

"Le Tong, do you have to be so particular with me?" Ji Rui gritted his teeth and glared at her.

If Ji Family employees saw Ji Rui like this, they would surely be trembling with fear.

But Le Tong, accustomed to such fierce and cold demeanor from President Ji by now, remained unfazed, responding calmly.

"Mr. Ji, even couples are encouraged to maintain financial independence. Let alone us; we’re just in a relationship, and we must settle things clearly and not play dumb."

Clearly, she wasn’t taking the check back.

Ji Rui’s face darkened further; he flicked the check with his finger and looked at Le Tong with a raised brow.

"Le Tong, do you know what this check makes me think of?"

Le Tong frowned and thought for a moment before shaking her head, indicating she didn’t understand.

"This check makes me feel like you’re keeping me like a playboy!" Ji Rui said irritably.

Le Tong looked at him steadily, and after a moment, she suddenly burst into laughter without warning.

"Hahaha, Ji Rui, when did your imagination become so vivid? Is it credited to me and Baobao?"

Le Tong’s unchecked laughter and teasing made Ji Rui’s face even darker and more unsightly as he glared at her in silence.

Le Tong laughed until tears came out, using the back of her hand to wipe the corners of her eyes without any decorum. Then she cheekily sat on Ji Rui’s desk, leaned over, hooked her finger under Ji Rui’s chin, and, with his astonished gaze, leaned in to kiss his lips, then smiled roguishly.

"Handsome, why don’t you surrender to me, eh?"
