Chapter 630 6: The True 'Gospel Book

Chapter 630 6: The True 'Gospel Book

This was almost a saturation rescue operation.

All available personnel and resources nearby were mobilized, and Su Ying could even see the heavily armored troops assembling on the ground.

She didn't know what exactly the Brotherhood and Beidou's special ops team had discovered, but she knew clearly that something so important was worth Leon risking his life to escort out.

The time was already approaching 1:30 in the morning.

When the helicopter arrived at the rescue area, it was around 2:30 in the morning. Before approaching the airspace of the target area, a sudden sense of crisis made Su Ying's scalp tingle all over. Immediately after, she saw a helicopter in front of her explode in the darkness, turning into a brilliant fireball as it plummeted down.

"Land."

"Emergency landing!"

The attack came too suddenly, with no signs at all under the cover of night. In just a breath or two, another helicopter turned into a blazing fireball.

"Jump!"

The intense sense of crisis made Su Ying shout, and she immediately opened the helicopter's cabin door, jumping out. Just seconds after she left the cabin, a violent explosion sounded behind her, followed by some debris hitting her exoskeleton armor with a dull thud. It felt like she was hit by bullets, momentarily losing her balance. Fortunately, her physical talent was far superior to ordinary people, and even during the rapid fall, she regained her balance and activated the rocket propulsion device under her feet just before reaching the ground.

Boom.

Su Ying, clad in silver-white exoskeleton armor, landed safely. However, the intense impact still made her chest feel tight. She looked back and saw several helicopters had turned into fireballs.

There was a flash of fire in the sky.

It seemed other people also jumped at the critical moment, using the rocket jet device to land safely.

The violent collision and landing made Su Ying feel a bit dizzy. The back of the exoskeleton armor was also somewhat damaged. If it weren't for wearing the exoskeleton armor, the debris from the helicopter explosion might have cut her in half.

"Zzz."

"Is anyone there? Where are you?" Su Ying opened the communicator. As a girl not yet fifteen, it was her first time on such a mission, and only after landing did she feel a wave of fear.

The enemy's location was completely unknown.

Without understanding the means of attack, helicopters just kept exploding one after another.

"Activate coordinate positioning."

"Zzz."

"Rat-tat-tat!"

A deep male voice sounded, followed by fierce gunfire and panting from intense running. Then came a burst of chaotic noise: "Damn! What is this thing!"

"There's an enemy!"

"Everyone be careful!... Shit!..."

"Boom!"

Gunfire erupted about 300 meters from Su Ying, followed by the dull thud of high-explosive grenades, and then the zzz sound of electrical current. After that, there was no more sound.

There were enemies.

And they were very close.

While Su Ying hesitated on whether she should go for the rescue, a cold mechanical voice sounded in her communicator: "All combat units, immediately proceed to the designated support area."

"I am the artificial intelligence Gaia."

"Temporarily taking over the command system of this operation."

"The Academy's support forces are on their way and expected to perform an airdrop in about five minutes."

A brief hesitation.

Su Ying quickly moved towards the designated location. Nighttime visibility was low, and although she wore exoskeleton armor, her movement speed wasn't swift. All along the way, she heard gunfire and explosions from all directions, yet she still hadn't seen any trace of the enemy.

They seemed like shadows in the night, appearing unnoticed to reveal lethal fangs.

A few minutes later.

The sound of transport aircraft emerged from the distance, soon followed by paratroopers jumping in lines. Before she could feel relieved that support had arrived, in the next second, the transport aircraft in the sky turned into a brilliant flame.

Damn!

What on earth was attacking them?

Su Ying calculated the energy of the nuclear fusion battery and suddenly started accelerating. She was getting very close to the rescue target point. Up ahead was a mountain range, with the target located at the junction of the valleys. Some areas couldn't be accessed, so she had to use the rocket jet device for short jumps.

Hiss.

Just as Su Ying landed, she heard rustling behind her, immediately followed by a cold light attacking her.

She barely dodged it by a hair's breadth, rolling away and instantly firing her weapon. In the glow of the energy bullets, she saw a massive shadow flash by. It looked like a mutated Death Claw, moving in a lizard-like fashion at incredible speed, its body spurting dark green blood as bullets struck it.

—"Shadow of Death [Old Gods' Creation]!"

What the hell was this creature?

In the instant of coping, those cold-blooded-looking dark green pupils made Su Ying's heart skip a beat. She quickly retreated while firing, pushing her mind sensing to the limit to track the target's fast-moving figure.

Boom!

The crisis sense reappeared.

Su Ying leaped behind a rock just before a series of loud explosions rang out. Not far away, three soldiers appeared clad in exoskeleton power armor under robes, frantically shooting at Su Ying's location and throwing plasma grenades as they fired.
