Chapter 1115: There’s a Great Demon King Here
Chapter 1115: There’s a Great Demon King Here
The staggering Leng Feng suddenly drew his sidearm and pointed it at one of the Management Bureau men.
But the sights of his gun swayed left and right in his blurry vision… double images, triple images—his body felt heavy, gradually slipping out of his control.
Leng Feng shook his head forcefully, but it did nothing to dispel the state he was in.
Just as he was about to pull the trigger at any cost, the man in front of him swiftly rushed forward and punched him hard in the gut. The intense pain broke Leng Feng’s remaining consciousness. He collapsed against the man’s shoulder.
“This guy’s willpower is really something else,” the man said while shaking the bell in his hand.
Leng Feng slowly stood up—but now his eyes were lifeless.
“He’s top-tier among ordinary people—after all, he’s a soldier,” the other man said indifferently. “Alright, I’m going up front. You handle things here.”
“Don’t worry. Controlling Leng Feng makes things a whole lot easier,” the first man chuckled.
The man who was about to leave nodded and said in a low, firm voice, “For the future.”
“For the future,” the other echoed. The sound of the bell was like a spring bubbling up from beneath the earth. It seeped out slowly, spreading through the dense fog… into the ears of everyone in the long convoy.
…
“Did you hear something?”
Akiko suddenly turned her head and looked at Ren Ziling and Li Zi—she had sharp instincts, thanks to being trained as a warrior from the Song family village.
Maybe it wasn’t just sound sensitivity—but danger sense.
“What sound?” Ren Ziling asked, puzzled, straining to listen. Aside from footsteps and soft conversations, she heard nothing unusual.
“Maybe I imagined it,” Akiko nodded, but she was starting to feel dizzy, her vision losing focus.
Unexpectedly, Ren Ziling suddenly shrieked—it was Li Zi sneaking up from behind and slipping her icy-cold hands down the back of Ren Ziling’s neck.
In the cold weather, those freezing hands touching her bare skin made her cry out instantly.
“Li Zi, are you trying to get yourself killed?!”
Li Zi giggled, apparently not satisfied with teasing just Ren Ziling. She reached for Akiko next, slipping her cold hand into her clothes.
“Akiko, you're hiding some serious honk—(BLEEP)!”
The freezing chill made Akiko shiver—but at the same time, it instantly sobered her up. The dizziness vanished in an instant.
“Sorry, sorry, it’s just too cold,” Li Zi apologized.
At that moment, a white fluffball quietly slipped into the fog, racing toward the front of the convoy.
…
The Management Bureau man leaped several times and broke out of the fog, arriving at a ruined mountain village.
The village had been leveled, like it was at the eye of a storm, surrounded by dense fog.
Several streams of people emerged from the surrounding fog, gathering at the village ruins. The man raced toward the center—the edge of a pit glowing red.
“How’s it going?” he asked.
Seven black-robed, bronze-masked figures stood around the pit.
One of them said seriously, “The Soul Orb is at 70% capacity. If we bring the rest here, it’ll be ready.”
The man nodded, walked to the pit, and muttered, “Million Soul Orb… hope we finish in time.”
“We will,” the masked man patted his shoulder, then asked seriously, “Did you come back alone?”
“What’s wrong?” the man frowned.
The masked figure suddenly struck the air with his palm. A burst of energy shattered the ground nearby—out popped a white fluffball, trying to flee.
He sneered and slashed with a green arc of light, slicing the fluffball in two.
“You were followed,” he said coldly.
The Bureau man’s face changed, and he quickly turned to go back. Two masked men followed him.
…
While they were playing around, Li Zi’s expression suddenly changed.
“What is it?” Ren Ziling asked.
“Nothing… just hungry,” Li Zi said, sticking out her tongue.
Ren Ziling rolled her eyes. “I think I brought some chocolate. Don’t know when we’ll get to rest—eat some first.”
As she rummaged through her backpack, Li Zi silently shot two hair-thin ice needles from her palm—one at Ren Ziling’s neck, one at Akiko’s.
Both instantly passed out. Li Zi caught them and whispered, “Sorry… consider this weight-loss acupuncture? We can’t go any farther. I don’t know what’s ahead, but it’s clearly a dead end.”
She took a deep breath, then lifted both of them and retreated quickly—barely able to carry them both.
Moments later, a loud explosion rang behind her.
“So fast!”
A gunshot tore through the fog, and a flame erupted beside her.
Li Zi raised an ice shield just in time—fire and ice clashed and canceled out.
A man stepped from the fog, gun in hand, aiming at them. “Didn’t expect to find a Demon among ordinary people… you hid well.”
“Just a little trick,” Li Zi said playfully. “I don’t kill or do evil. I’m a law-abiding citizen. I just want to leave with my friends. Deal?”
“Not up to you,” he snorted and fired again.
Li Zi barely blocked the shot with three layers of ice shields. Then—two more attackers came from behind.
Panicked, she summoned a snowstorm, ten meters high, to blow them back.
As the snow settled, she stood in a white kimono, a blue sash tied like a butterfly at her back.
“A snow demon? Not local to Divine Land,” one attacker sneered, flames igniting in his hands.
The gunman and another masked figure flanked her.
Li Zi’s eyes narrowed. She hugged Ren Ziling tightly and shoved Akiko away—Akiko’s unconscious body, wrapped in cold, smashed into one attacker.
At the same moment, Li Zi vanished into a flurry of snow.
The attacker swatted Akiko aside, slamming her into a rock. The rock shattered—her condition unknown.
“Chase her! Our plan must not fail!” the masked man yelled.
The three disappeared into the fog.
From under the rocks, a cold aura rose. White fluffballs emerged, lifting Akiko and carrying her away.
…
Li Zi exhaled amid the snow but saw only white all around—no path in sight. She looked down at Ren Ziling and saw her lips had gone pale.
“An ordinary person would’ve frozen to death… Sister Ren, your constitution is surprisingly strong.” A strange glint flashed in Li Zi’s eyes. She then turned her head and looked back. “Akiko, sorry… since your origins are unclear, whether you live or die will have to be left to fate…”
“Leave it to fate? You’re definitely not getting out alive—!!”
A cold, demonic voice echoed from all directions. Li Zi’s face changed drastically—those guys had caught up this fast?!
Blazing heat suddenly surged, evaporating the thick fog and revealing a wide-open space… and without realizing it, they had reached the edge of a cliff.
Above, a black-robed figure wreathed in flames hovered in the sky. Li Zi sent a blast of cold air toward him, but it was instantly vaporized before getting close.
“A mere snow demon dares to act arrogantly before the Vermilion Bird Clan?” the black-robed man sneered.
“Vermilion Bird?!” Li Zi cried out in fear.
The presence this man emitted was that of a pure high-level demon… She had just come out for a stroll—why did she have to run into such a terrifying being?
But the black-robed man didn’t care. He raised both hands, and hundreds of flaming feathers formed in the air and rained down like arrows!
From within the fog, the Management Bureau man called out, “Elder Qu, leave her alive and refine her soul! This snow demon’s essence is high quality! And that woman’s spiritual energy is rich—radiant and powerful. She’s perfect for the final refining of the Soul Orb! It’ll boost its effect significantly!”
“I know what I’m doing!” Elder Qu shouted coldly.
The flaming feathers exploded violently around Li Zi, each carrying immense destructive power. She felt like an ice pop left under the scorching sun—her whole body was about to melt.
Clenching her teeth, she braced herself—but Elder Qu’s firepower was far more terrifying than expected.
Suddenly—BOOM!!!
A massive flaming feather shattered through her snow barrier. The explosion blasted Ren Ziling away from Li Zi’s side—Li Zi couldn’t hold on and could only watch helplessly as Ren Ziling fell off the cliff.
“Sister Ren—!”
Li Zi screamed and leapt after her without hesitation—but in that moment, Elder Qu snarled. Two fire whips shot from his sleeves and wrapped tightly around Li Zi.
The searing flames scorched her body. Li Zi let out a pained scream and collapsed, unable to move.
The Management Bureau man shook his head. “I told you not to be so rough… Go check if the woman’s still alive. If she is, bring her back. Don’t waste her.”
Another black-robed man jumped off the cliff.
The Bureau agent sighed, lit a cigarette, and walked up to Elder Qu.
At this point, the fiery whips were still wrapped around Li Zi. The flames gnawed at her snow demon body. She didn’t scream again, just stared blankly in the direction of the cliff.
But then—the fire whips began to cool and freeze over. Frost quickly spread down them, reaching Elder Qu’s hands.
He was startled and let go. The fire whips shattered into icy shards upon hitting the ground.
“I finally found a place where I could stay a little longer… Why did it have to turn out like this…”
Li Zi lightly twisted her body. The frozen fire whips broke off immediately. Her hair had turned snow white.
It fell loosely.
Her eyes became pale and demon-like.
Suddenly, snow whipped through the air. Wind and frost swept away the surrounding fog, transforming the area into a world of white. The cold spread rapidly.
The Management Bureau man panicked and instinctively fired. But the spell bullet froze midair and dropped to the ground.
He didn’t even have time to react—his body instantly turned into ice crystal.
Elder Qu was stunned. His demonic power surged, but the snow demon looked at him and gave a twisted smile… like a demoness.
…
…
The cliff wasn’t deep.
So when the black-robed man jumped down, it didn’t take long before he saw the woman. But strangely, her fall had been unusually slow.
Like a feather drifting down—just before hitting the ground, she gently floated down and softly landed.
The ground sprouted lush green grass beneath her, forming a cushion for her to rest on.
The black-robed man frowned and quickly walked over to her… but something felt off—strange.
A chilling dread crept into him, making his breath stutter.
He hadn’t felt this kind of fear in years—not since he had reached the peak of his abilities.
“This woman…”
He approached Ren Ziling, preparing to take her. He took a deep breath to suppress the rising fear.
At that moment, a lazy voice suddenly came from the fog.
“Hey, buddy. I suggest you keep your hands to yourself…”
The black-robed man’s heart skipped. He turned sharply—and in that instant, a gust of wind swept through, parting the fog slightly.
A young man with a long scarf leaned against the cliff wall below.
The black-robed man squinted and quietly reached behind his back… but the scarfed youth raised an eyebrow and said again, “Didn’t I tell you not to touch her? What’s your deal, got ADHD or something?”
“Who are you?” the man asked grimly.
This youth had approached silently, and he hadn’t sensed a thing. If this person had intended to kill him, he might not have survived.
But he seemed to be here for the woman… The man quickly calculated his options. His hand behind his back began to glow faintly.
The youth sighed. “Man, I’ve been polite. Can’t you behave? Don’t you see she has a protective power on her? If you mess with her, no one can save you.”
“Oh?” the black-robed man sneered.
The youth sighed again. “She’s still asleep. She hasn’t noticed anything yet. Just leave. Don’t provoke the wrong person—if you do, even I won’t be able to help. I get it, you probably think I’m full of it. If I were you, I’d think the same. But hey, look at my sincere eyes. Trust me, yeah?”
“So it’s that serious?” the black-robed man chuckled darkly. “Now I really want to see how serious.”
He lunged forward, reaching out—
But in that instant, a flash of silver sliced through him—from head to toe.
His bronze mask split in two, revealing an aged face. His mouth moved slightly… and then his body split into halves, collapsing to the sides.
“I told you not to move. I gave you fair warning. Was my expression not sincere enough?”
The young man flicked his ancient sword. The blood flew off without a trace.
“How serious is it?” he murmured, glancing at the peacefully sleeping Ren Ziling, nestled on the bed of grass. “Maybe… not even this whole world would be enough to bury the consequences.”
He fell into deep thought.
…
…
——“Da Zhe, I need you to do something… This was originally No. 18’s job, but she’s not around. Can you take it?”
——“No problem.”
——“Help me look after Miss Ren. She’s over here now.”
——“That’s probably the boss’s… But does she even need protection? With the boss’s power, who could possibly touch her?”
——“Exactly. That’s why you need to go… to avoid making the boss angry.”
——“That scary?”
——“Da Zhe, in your opinion, how much of the boss’s rage could this world actually withstand? Even the boss might not know the answer to that…”
——“Wait—seriously?”
——“The previous one… destroyed seven worlds before even arriving here—just because she was in a bad mood.”
