Mason Nightshade stared at Victoria Blake for a long time."After all these years, Grandpa's anger has long dissipated. Since you're back, why not go and see him?"
Victoria Blake didn't say anything further, and Mason knew it meant she agreed.
He sent a text message to Aurelia Shaw, "I'm going back to the old house tonight."
Aurelia received Mason's message but didn't reply to him. Instead, she sent a message to Hadrian Turner:
"Release the first part of the evidence."
Hadrian Turner: "Okay."
Victoria slept until nightfall, and was forcefully dragged back to the old house by Mason. Glancing at the astonished face of Butler Lee, she dug at her ears and chuckled, "Hey, Uncle Lee, you haven't aged a bit all these years. Any secrets to maintaining youth?"
"I've been staying up so much lately that wrinkles are about to show."
"You dare come back!" a voice, old yet strong, echoed in the living room.
Victoria's expression froze for a brief moment, but she quickly reverted to her carefree and cheeky demeanor, "Hehe, Grandpa, long time no see. Oh right, I brought you a gift."
Victoria pulled out a bottle of whiskey from her suitcase, "This is good stuff, a limited edition I went through a lot of trouble to get."
Butler Lee looked at her, "Miss, the master has high blood pressure, he can't drink alcohol."
Victoria's hand wavered for a moment as she held the bottle, but she smoothly put it down without anyone noticing and smiled, "Butler Lee, I just said it's a limited edition, it's meant to be kept, not to drink. It's a collectible."
Mason stood to the side with arms crossed, glancing at her. Others might not know, but he knew her best. If it weren't for him forcibly bringing her back, how could she return on her own, let alone prepare a gift?
Probably bought it to satiate her own craving for alcohol.
Kai Nightshade snorted.
Victoria's face turned a bit pale, but a nonchalant smile played on her lips, "It's been a long time since I last came back. Just wanted to have a look. Since everyone is fine, I'll be going now."
"It's too late to book a hotel, and out here in the wilderness, it's hard to get a cab."

Butler Lee: "... Miss, this is a millionaire's district. You call this the wilderness? Do you know how many people resent the wealthy?"
"Since you're back, stay for dinner."

Victoria lay down on the sofa as if her whole body had gone limp, looking at the ceiling with a self-deprecating smile.
She really shouldn't have come back. Returning made everyone unhappy, better to be outside alone. Though a bit lacking in affection, the place was silent, not causing trouble for anyone.
"Grandpa is a soft-hearted but sharp-tongued person. Since he let you stay, it means he doesn't blame you for the past anymore," Mason said, looking at her.
"Maybe." Victoria put her hand on her forehead, exhaling gently; her carefree face now appeared exhausted.
Why was she still sleepy after sleeping all afternoon? Really just wanted to find a place to have a good sleep.
To hide away, sleep in dreams, and never wake up again.
