Chapter 525 - 525: Mason Nightshade, I'm Not Drunk

Aurelia Shaw walked down the street. The wind was a bit chilly, and the street was empty with hardly anyone around. The two rows of streetlights seemed sparse. She had a bit to drink, not enough to be drunk, but her head was still a little dizzy.

The cool breeze sobered her up quite a bit.

Aurelia felt something cool and gritty blowing against her face. She extended her hand and opened her palm, a fine and misshaped snowflake landed in her palm and quickly melted.

Huh? It's snowing?

It's only October, not even winter yet, how could it snow?

Aurelia suddenly realized she had come out wearing only a dress, her coat left in the car. She hadn't called Amanda Fuller to pick her up, and now she was dressed... well, quite grandly.

Luckily, it's nighttime; otherwise, dressed like this, she'd be mistaken for a lunatic.

"Beep beep," suddenly a horn sounded behind her.

Aurelia thought she was blocking the road, so she stepped aside. That car drove past her but stopped in front of her.

Aurelia was startled, instinctively looking into the car. All she saw was a cold, handsome figure. He opened the car door and stepped out, striding towards her.

His eyebrows furrowed deeply, with a few traces of displeasure on his face. As he walked, he took off his coat and draped it over her shoulders.

"Dressing like this at night, are you trying to catch a cold?" Mason Nightshade said in a low voice, with a hint of reproach in his gaze as he looked at her.

Aurelia sniffed, feeling truly wronged.

Doesn't a girl get to have a bit of wild fun after drinking?

She raised her chin, giving a defiant look, "How would I know it would suddenly snow."

So, does that mean it's the weather's fault?

Mason looked at her unreasonable demeanor. He smelled the faint scent of alcohol on her, a hint of resignation appeared in his narrow eyes. He sighed, grabbed her wrist, tucked her into the car, bent over, leaned in, and buckled her seatbelt.

Aurelia caught a whiff of the man's unique light lemon scent, and instinctively tilted her head towards him. The fabric of his suit accidentally brushed against her lips.

Mason didn't notice and opened the driver's side door, getting in.

"Did you drink?" Mason asked as the car drove along the road.

"Just a little, and it was all fruit wine, not much alcohol." As if affirming something, she turned her head and looked at him intently, "Mason, I'm not drunk!"

She just had a spur of the moment desire to wander around alone at night. She truly forgot to wear her coat, and inside the club, it was very warm; she hadn't felt the chill until she came outside.

Just as she was starting to feel it, he arrived.

"Why did you come over?"

"Your phone wasn't answering," Mason replied indirectly.

Aurelia took it out and found it on silent mode, she forgot to switch it back. There were over a dozen missed calls, all from him.

She was taken aback, then an idea crossed her mind: could it be... he heard something over the phone, worried about her, so he came over?

Her heart inexplicably sped up, a strange emotion enveloped her heart. She knew what it was. She wasn't some naive girl, not someone who knew nothing and had never experienced anything. She understood well what this heartbeat represented.

She looked at him.

His face was hidden in shadows and light, his features more gracefully detached, outlined by the interplay of light and shadow. His eyes were long and deep, lips slightly pressed into a thin, healthy wheat-colored skin. It's said soldiers carry an air of uprightness, but Mason carried an aura of hostility and roguishness. Just like his fierce nature, the first impression of seeing him was that he was dashing, handsome.
