Chapter 1833: Transferred Affections
Chapter 1833: Transferred Affections
After speaking, Charlotte Thompson was about to turn and leave, but Justin Battleson quickly grabbed her hand.
Then Justin raised his head to look at Oliver Battleson, causing the action of placing the bouquet in front of the gravestone to come to a halt.
"I wanted to see her..."
Faced with Justin’s gaze, Oliver Battleson licked his dry lips nervously.
This time, Justin, although he turned his head away, uttered a soft acknowledgment from his throat.
"Hmm."
Yet this sound was like a heavy hammer pounding in Oliver’s mind, making his gaze tremble as he lifted his head.
This was no perfunctory response; it might represent a thaw in their relationship.
"I know she loves white roses."
Oliver’s expression was somewhat complex as he tightened the bouquet in his arms, "In the end... I’m the one who wronged her."
They stood in front of the gravestone for a long time, neither of them speaking.
Some emotions don’t need to be spoken to be expressed.
After leaving the cemetery, Charlotte dialed Annie Anne’s phone number, but to her surprise, the person who answered was Campbell Prickly.
This instantly made Charlotte alert.
"Why do you have Annie’s phone?"
"Don’t misunderstand, I’m not like Vincent." Listening to Charlotte’s questioning through the phone, Campbell Prickly chuckled lightly, his tone relaxed.
"But I did think about taking Annie Anne away quietly; after all, she doesn’t have someone like Justin Battleson by her side to protect her."
"Where’s Annie now?" Charlotte’s voice was devoid of emotion.
"As for where she is..." Campbell’s words trailed off, and then he seemed to have gone somewhere, with soothing music suddenly occupying the receiver.
"Are you at the bar?"
Charlotte’s expression was somewhat surprised.
"I’ll send you the address," leaving off with that, Campbell hung up the phone.
At this moment, Charlotte dared not waste a moment and headed straight to the location Campbell had sent.
Meanwhile, in the bar, Campbell Prickly sat on the sofa with a smile, casually watching Annie Anne, then put his phone on the table beside him.
"Sometimes, I really can’t tell what you’re trying to do."
Campbell hadn’t expected Annie to actively seek him out, nor that she would even let him answer Charlotte’s call.
"And you know my relationship with Vincent, aren’t you worried I might do something to you?"
However, Annie responded with a slightly impatient voice, "How did I never notice before how verbose you are?"
Saying this, Annie filled the glass in front of her and pushed it toward Campbell.
Annie stared at the wine in the glass with a complex expression.
She thought she must be crazy, otherwise why would she actively seek Campbell out?
Perhaps she suddenly realized she didn’t even have a friend to drink with now.
Apart from Charlotte, the person she interacted with the most was Campbell right in front of her.
Yet the person before her wasn’t good.
"Your actions could mislead me into thinking you’ve fallen for someone else."
Even as Campbell said this, he still took the glass Annie handed him.
"I’ve said it before; I despise men who are verbose."
"In any case, you wouldn’t like me; might as well be someone you hate, so perhaps you might always remember me."
