Chapter 774 - 774 774 Really Can't Get Out

774: Chapter 774: Really Can’t Get Out 774: Chapter 774: Really Can’t Get Out Gu Fan soon ended his call and returned.

Everyone asked who he was on the phone with, but he only responded with a faint smile and did not answer, which made everyone curious about what he was planning.

Suddenly, chilling cries started coming from the forest, as if ghosts and goblins were all around them, making everyone tense and frightened.

“As expected, they won’t let us go that easily,” Gu Fan sighed and then said: “Alright, let’s keep going.

We have to get away from this place as soon as possible.”

Su Hui guided the way while checking her cell phone.

Whether they could escape or not, it all depended on her phone now.

She was their only hope.

A howl resounded and a figure suddenly rushed out from the woods, flying swiftly toward Su Hui.

However, Gu Ling’s telepathy gave Su Hui a warning, allowing her to easily dodge the attack.

Everyone noticed that the attacker was dressed like the residents of the mysterious old town, just as Gu Fan had said.

The enemy wouldn’t let them leave that easily.

Under Gu Fan’s urging, everyone quickened their pace, keeping vigilant all around, fearing something else might come flying out.

“Xiaoling, inform us immediately if you sense anything,” Gu Fan said.

He was interrupted by a strange scream, which sent chills down his spine, signifying an enemy attack.

Immediately, Gu Ling informed, “Brother, get down now!”

Upon hearing this, Gu Fan quickly ducked and just as he did so, he felt something brushing past his head.

He had narrowly avoided being snatched away by something flying towards him.

With Gu Ling’s guidance, everyone was able to dodge the attacks from all sides.

Gu Ling’s sensitivity allowed her to warn everyone before the enemy approached.

Gu Ling pointed in various directions for everyone to dodge on time.

Though they were not caught by the enemy, it was becoming increasingly difficult to advance.

There were times when they had to retreat just to avoid danger.

Qian Ye pretended also to be dodging while secretly observing Gu Ling’s actions.

Silently, she admired the young girl’s incredible skills.

Even though the people of the mysterious ancient town continuously attacked, they could not touch a single hair of Gu Fan and the others.

Just continuing like this was not an option.

Slowly, Qian Ye approached Gu Ling.

Naturally, her actions were not suspect, much like when Gu Fan and Su Hui moved closer, it was deemed unexceptional.

She was about to cast a spell to knock out Gu Ling, when suddenly Gu Ling sensed something and without looking back, immediately ran away.

After putting some distance between them, Gu Ling looked back, only to find Qian Ye.

This puzzled her.

“Could the girl have sensed my intent?” Qian Ye’s heart went cold, fearing her intentions would be exposed.

Luckily, the people from the mysterious ancient town kept emerging from all around, catching Gu Ling’s attention, prompting her to warn the others to dodge.

It seemed that Gu Ling did not suspect Qian Ye’s motives, which slightly relieved Qian Ye.

Gu Fan, however, saw this scene unfold and furrowed his brow.

A little later, the people from the old town seemed to realize they couldn’t harm Gu Fan and his group, so they stopped advancing.

All around them, calm was restored.

Gu Fan glanced at Gu Ling, who nodded to signal that they were no longer in danger.

Only then, did the group relax.

“We’re not far from the highway now, we’ll be out of here soon,” Su Hui pointed in a direction, quickening everyone’s pace.

However, they ended up at the very place they were trying to escape from – the mysterious ancient town, much to their disbelief.

“Looking to play games, are you?

I want to see what tricks you have up your sleeve,” Gu Fan said confidently.

He was certain that they could break through this time using the signal location on the phone.

Everyone else also believed in the possibility of success.

Once they entered the ancient town, the streets were still eerily deserted.

The houses on both sides were quiet, as if unoccupied.

Their hearts raced.

Gu Fan glanced at Gu Ling, who signalled that she sensed no danger.

It seemed as if the ancient town was now abandoned.

“Are they trying to trap us in this ancient town?” Gu Fan’s brow knitted in concentration.

He trusted that Su Hui’s phone would provide the right direction, but deep down, he had a foreboding feeling.

The group followed Su Hui, walking along the town streets.

Initially, everything seemed normal.

However, after some time, they realised they had returned to where they began.

The signal on Su Hui’s phone showed that they had not moved from their original position.

It was strange.

In disbelief, Gu Fan tried once again, only to return to the same spot.

The signal location on the phone still had not moved.

“It’s impossible.

We clearly walked nearly a thousand steps, but we’re no closer to the spot near the highway where the cars park,” Su Hui said, baffled.

“Well, that’s a good trick,” Gu Fan pondered, deep in thought.

Su Hui suggested, “Last time, it was only when dawn broke that we were able to escape.

Perhaps, we could try the same thing.”

“Wait until dawn?” Gu Fan thought it was a feasible idea.

However, Qian Ye spoke up, “Even if we can safely return, what about them?” She pointed to the seven headless men.

This presented another problem.

If Gu Fan and the others left along with the seven headless men, they could never encounter the mysterious old town again, and they would not be able to restore Zhang Yang and Yang Xinran’s heads back to their bodies.

Qian Ye suggested they split into two groups, each heading in different directions down the streets to see if there were any changes.

Gu Fan thought it might be worth trying.

So, he teamed up with Qian Ye; Su Hui with Gu Ling.

The seven headless men followed Gu Fan.

The two groups set out in opposite directions, back-to-back.

They had barely covered a few steps when Gu Fan, out of concern, glanced back.

Astonishingly, there was no sign of Su Hui and Gu Ling.

The streets and the ancient town vanished.

Gu Fan and Qian Ye found themselves yet again in the uncanny woods.

Looking at the creepy environment with the howling wind interwoven with low growls, Gu Fan’s heart sank.

“How is this possible?

How can we not see Su Hui and Gu Ling after just a few seconds?” Qian Ye could not believe her eyes and was somewhat panicking.

Seeing Qian Ye panicking, Gu Fan reminded her, “Aren’t you the queen?

Considering your knowledge of magic and your past experiences, how on earth are you less calm than me?”

Upon hearing that, Qian Ye’s face turned awkward.

She edged closer to Gu Fan as if finding solace by his side.
