Chapter 437 - 439: Paternity Test
Chapter 437 - 439: Paternity Test
He spent over twenty years in prison, and when he got out, he was an old man. His family, ashamed of him, disowned him and cut all ties, even taking over his land in the village. With a criminal record, no one dared to hire him. He was even mocked when he tried to find work at construction sites.
Later, he got addicted to gambling. He was often in debt and frequently beaten by thugs until he couldn’t stand up straight.
Lee Warren blamed all of this suffering on Jackson Kensington.
Looking at Jackson Kensington, dressed so smartly in a suit and tie, Lee Warren’s eyes turned red with jealousy. He tightened his grip.
"Jackson Kensington, open your damn eyes and take a good look at who I really am!"
Jackson Kensington frowned, and then a flicker of disbelief crossed his eyes. "Lee Warren? But... aren’t you supposed to be dead?"
"That’s right, you wished I was dead! You wished I’d rot in prison to make things perfect for you and Lorraine Warren, that pair of adulterous degenerates!"
Lee Warren’s face was contorted with fury. "You two-faced bastard! I can’t believe I didn’t see your disgusting true colors back then! Your family was so poor you could barely afford to eat, and I gave you half my salary to get by! I thought we were the closest of brothers! But what did you do? All I asked was for you to help me get a lawyer, to try and get a shorter sentence. And you? You called just to mock me, telling me your hands were tied. But were you really out of money?! After marrying into a wealthy family, how could you possibly not afford a lawyer’s fee?!"
Jackson Kensington’s eyes flickered, and he coughed dryly. "Let’s talk about this calmly. Let go of me first. At the time... my situation wasn’t much better than yours. I had married into the Kenway family, and countless eyes were watching my every move. If they found out I was associated with a murderer like you, Vincent Kenway would have despised me even more..."
Lee Warren sneered. "When it comes down to it, it’s just because you’re selfish. And that bitch, Lorraine Warren! I was so good to her, and she ran off to be your mistress without a word..."
"What’s that supposed to mean?!" Jackson Kensington glared at him. "Take it out on me if you want, but don’t you dare blame my wife and daughter. If you keep spouting this nonsense..."
Jackson Kensington’s voice turned cold. "...then don’t blame me for what happens next."
He struggled to turn his head and saw the shareholders watching the spectacle from the side.
’Usually, I’m the one giving them orders. When did they ever get to see me made into a laughingstock?’
"You probably just got out of prison, right? I know you’re holding a grudge. How about this? Let’s go somewhere else to talk this out properly and clear up any misunderstandings. I’ll call Lorraine and Jeanette to join us. You haven’t met my daughter, Jeanette, have you?"
"My daughter is smart and beautiful. She’s been at the top of her class her whole life."
Jackson Kensington’s tone was filled with pride, but then it turned somber. "Although she had a bit of an accident recently, Lorraine and I will always be by her side, waiting for her to recover."
Lee Warren burst out laughing. "She’s got my blood running through her veins, so how could she not be smart and beautiful? Her eyes are the most like mine—just as beautiful!"
Jackson Kensington instinctively thought of Jeanette Kensington’s eyes. When she was little, he had noticed that they were rather round—dark and bright with a faint hint of blue.
Lorraine Warren had said her maternal grandfather was from Galia, and Jeanette Kensington had inherited his features.
As for whether Lorraine Warren’s maternal grandfather was really a foreigner, Jackson Kensington didn’t know, because the man had passed away a long time ago.
Jackson Kensington looked at Lee Warren’s eyes again, shaking his head and muttering, "Impossible..."
’Stay calm,’ he told himself repeatedly. ’Don’t let Lee Warren’s cheap tricks get to me.’
He and Lorraine had weathered so many storms together over the years. Their families were neighbors, and they had walked to elementary school hand-in-hand. Jackson Kensington knew better than anyone how much Lorraine loved him.
He angrily shoved Lee Warren away and roared, "Shut your mouth! If you spread any more malicious rumors about my wife and daughter, I’ll have you thrown out! No, I’ll have you thrown out right now!"
Jackson Kensington fumbled for his phone, repeating one phrase: "I’m going to throw you out, throw you out..."
He called the security office downstairs, but still, no one answered.
"Why is everyone working against me!?" Jackson Kensington cursed in a rage. Just then, his peripheral vision caught sight of a photograph.
He snatched it, his eyes glued to the image. "When was this taken? Huh?" His eyes were bloodshot. "I’m asking you, when was this taken?!"
"After you got together with your heiress, we got together, too. We held a wedding banquet in the village. She was still a year shy of the legal age, so we didn’t get a marriage certificate."
"And another thing. Your precious daughter was supposedly premature, but she was born perfectly healthy, wasn’t she? No different from other babies, a good weight, fair and chubby. You were probably thrilled, you idiot!"
Lee Warren threw his head back and laughed. "Because she’s my daughter! Lorraine Warren was afraid you’d find out she’d had an abortion and despise her, so she used the child to trap you!"
"HAHAHAHAHA! Jackson Kensington, you deserve this! You deserve to be cuckolded by me for over twenty years! You deserve to raise my wife and my daughter for me! This is what you owe me!"
Murmurs rose from below. The shareholders present had clearly not expected to hear such explosive gossip. The darling daughter Jackson Kensington had been showing off for so long turned out not to be his own flesh and blood.
Naomi Kenway sat below, enjoying the show. Seeing Jackson Kensington’s pained and furious expression, she was absolutely delighted.
Saul Linton said, "That black-hearted Jackson Kensington is finally getting what he deserves. All these years, he’s been parading around with his mistress, and he kicked you out of the family for some bastard child from who-knows-where. This is exactly what that scumbag deserves!"
Jackson Kensington collapsed into his chair, muttering repeatedly, "Impossible, impossible, this is impossible..."
He suddenly shoved Lee Warren to the ground and hastily ran out of the meeting room.
Lee Warren, sprawled on the floor, was still laughing—a deeply satisfied, triumphant laugh.

"Jeanette, please eat something, okay? Do you know how much this is hurting your father and me? We will never let that damned Caleb Bishop get away with this!"
Lorraine Warren pleaded earnestly, holding a bowl of congee.
Lying in the hospital bed, Jeanette Kensington kept her eyes closed, her lips pale. She didn’t answer.
With a loud BANG, the door to the hospital room was violently thrown open.
Lorraine Warren jumped in fright, and Jeanette Kensington opened her eyes.
Jackson Kensington stormed over, his face ashen. Without a word, he grabbed Jeanette Kensington’s arm and started dragging her away.
Weak, Jeanette Kensington nearly stumbled and fell.
She cried out in pain, "Dad..."
Lorraine Warren quickly steadied Jeanette, trying to block him. "Jackson, what are you doing? Have you gone mad? Jeanette hasn’t recovered yet! Where are you taking her?"
"To get a paternity test."
