Chapter 436 - 438: Look Who I Am, Jackson Kensington

"Our investigation shows that Lorraine Warren has been consistently harassed by a man named Lee Warren. This Lee Warren is none other than her former boyfriend. They lived together for a while, right after Jackson Kensington left and before her abortion."

"I’ve already arranged for my colleagues to collect samples. The DNA test results aren’t back yet, but I’m almost certain of the outcome."

"Good," Naomi Kenway said. "I’ll wire you an extra two hundred thousand. I appreciate your hard work."

"It is our honor to be of service. In addition, we’ve contacted Lee Warren. Would you like to meet him?"

Lee Warren followed the bodyguard inside, shuffling timidly. His eyes, however, darted all over the place. When he caught sight of the jewel-encrusted chandelier, he looked as if he wanted nothing more than to climb up and steal it.

Naomi Kenway walked up to him. "You’re Lee Warren?"

"Yes, yes, that’s me! I’m Lee Warren!" Lee Warren looked up as if he’d seen his savior. "I know what you want to know. I can tell you anything, as long as you give me money! That bitch Lorraine Warren said she doesn’t have a penny left. Whose fault is that? It’s Jackson Kensington’s fault for being too incompetent to hold onto his money!"

The words made him think of his own situation, and a look of frustrated embarrassment flashed across his face.

"Is Jeanette Kensington your daughter with Lorraine Warren?"

"Yes!"

"How can I be sure you’re telling the truth?"

"If I’m lying, then may I lose everything I ever gamble on and never get back on my feet for the rest of my life!"

Naomi Kenway knew he had just made a rather vicious oath and was now convinced he was telling the truth.

Lee Warren asked eagerly, "So, can I have the money now? You look really rich, so you should give me a little extra, heheh..."

"You think you can get money from me with just a few words?"

Lee Warren’s eyes went wide. "What do you mean?! Didn’t you say you’d give me money? You’re just like Jackson Kensington and Lorraine Warren—none of you are any good..."

"Shut up." Naomi Kenway cut him off impatiently. "Don’t compare me to them. They aren’t worthy."

She looked at Lee Warren coldly. "I never said I wouldn’t give you money. You just have to do one thing for me."

Lee Warren’s eyes lit up. "As long as it’s not murder, arson, or anything that’ll land me in jail, go right ahead and tell me!"

Jeanette Kensington’s vital signs stabilized, and Lorraine Warren was personally taking care of her. Meanwhile, Jackson Kensington urgently threw himself back into his work.

Several companies had made decent acquisition offers, but Jackson Kensington refused to admit defeat and sell. However, he didn’t explicitly reject them, either, merely saying he needed to consider his options carefully.

He knew the company wouldn’t last much longer. Caleb Bishop had dug such a huge pit for him, and now hordes of business partners were gathered downstairs, demanding their money. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to pay, but that he simply couldn’t. The warehouses were filled with so many unsold cars that the cash flow had long since dried up.

It wasn’t just the partners demanding payment; the company’s shareholders were also full of grievances, cursing Jackson Kensington countless times.

Jackson Kensington had no other choice but to numb himself with work.

He became much more diligent than before, wishing he could split himself in two to solve the company’s problems. Even so, the company’s issues remained unresolved.

"Meetings, meetings, meetings! What’s the point of holding so many meetings? You still can’t solve the problem! I’m an old man who just wanted to live out the rest of my life peacefully on my shares, but you—you’ve gone and run the company into the ground! We have two options now: either sell the company and recoup some of our losses, or get a new chairman! Hmph, Jackson Kensington is a good-for-nothing. All these years, he’s ruined the company. The Kenway Group can only survive by getting rid of him! We need a leader with a brain!" one shareholder fumed.

Jackson Kensington’s face flushed red with fury.

To his surprise, however, a number of shareholders nodded in agreement with this absurd proposal. ’It seems,’ he thought, ’I’ve completely used up what little trust they had left in me.’

Saul Linton spoke up. "A Kenway company should be run by a Kenway. At the end of the day, Jackson Kensington is just an outsider; he could never truly care about the company. It’s a tragedy! The foundation Old Kenway built with his own two hands has been completely destroyed by that scoundrel, with nothing to show for it!"

As he spoke, he broke into a violent coughing fit.

Naomi Kenway, sitting next to him, reached out and rubbed Saul Linton’s back to soothe him. "Uncle Linton..."

"I’m fine." Saul Linton gave a kindly smile, but when he looked up at Jackson Kensington again, his expression was full of disgust. "It’s time for you to retire. In my opinion, handing it over to Nina would be for the best. The companies she manages are all making a name for themselves in the industry. She’s leagues better than an idiot like you!"

"Shut up!" Something about that statement struck a raw nerve with Jackson Kensington. "Hand it over to her? In your dreams!"

"She’s your daughter. Isn’t it just a matter of time before you hand it over to her anyway? Why are you getting so worked up? Or are you planning to give our Kenway Group to your illegitimate daughter instead?"

"It’s none of your business! I hold the most shares, so what I say goes! This company is mine!"

Jackson Kensington’s bravado faltered as he spoke.

’He knew that ungrateful daughter of his had been secretly buying up company shares. It won’t be long before she has more than me...’

"You want to run a company with that pea-sized brain of yours?" Saul Linton snorted. "You’re dreaming!"

"You!!" Jackson Kensington’s finger trembled as he pointed at Saul Linton, wanting to tell him to get out. However, he was in an awkward position and was afraid of inciting the wrath of the others over this.

BANG! With a deafening crash, the conference room door was violently thrown open. A disheveled, filthy man who looked like a beggar walked in. His eyes were fixed on Jackson Kensington, like a starving wolf that had just spotted fresh meat.

Jackson Kensington shuddered and pointed at him, roaring, "Where did this stinking beggar crawl in from?! Get out! Get out!! Where’s security?" He couldn’t see any sign of the guards and muttered angrily, "A bunch of useless trash!"

Jackson Kensington dialed the security office, but all he heard was a busy signal.

He angrily slammed his phone down on the table.

The disheveled man vaulted over the long conference table and lunged at Jackson Kensington.

Jackson Kensington’s voice trembled with fear. "Help!!"

The surrounding shareholders were all just watching the show; no one made a move to help him.

Lee Warren viciously choked Jackson Kensington. "You dare call me a beggar? If it weren’t for you, how could I have fallen this low? You ruined me! You made it so I can’t even go home!! Take a good look! Do you see who I am?!"

To this day, Lee Warren remembered his hatred for Jackson Kensington for stealing his woman. And Lorraine Warren—he had loved her so much, but after she cheated on him, she ran off to be someone’s mistress!

He drank day and night. He accidentally stabbed someone to death while helping a friend in a fight. He went to Jackson Kensington and Lorraine Warren, hoping they would help him for old times’ sake, but all he got was cold indifference and ridicule!
