Chapter 431 - 433: Shareholders’ Meeting

Ethan Shaw followed her gaze. On the desk lay a stack of documents and bills, next to a notebook filled with neat handwriting.

Naomi Kenway explained, "This is all for my studies on company management. Jackson Kensington has run our family’s company into the ground, and I have to take it back from him!" She frowned slightly. "I just regret not studying these subjects properly before. It’s a bit difficult to learn it all again now."

"You just need more practice," Ethan Shaw said. "I’ll give you a few companies to practice on."

"That’s not necessary," Naomi Kenway said. "I’ve saved up a lot of money from acting and filming shows. I used it to register my own company, specifically to get some practice. Thankfully, its performance has been pretty good. It seems to be thriving right now."

"That impressive?" Ethan Shaw smiled. "Looks like you have a real talent for business."

But Naomi Kenway looked troubled. "I’m still worried, though. I’m afraid I won’t be able to manage The Jennings-Kenway Group well, afraid our family’s legacy will be ruined in my hands. I’m even scared that my mother and grandfather will be disappointed in me."

"Don’t put so much pressure on yourself. I’ll be by your side no matter what. Any profits are yours, any losses are mine."

Naomi Kenway was touched. After a moment’s thought, she shook her head. "I can’t rely on you that much. I have to hold up the Kenway Family on my own merits!"

"Alright." A flash of admiration crossed Ethan Shaw’s eyes. "Is there anything you don’t understand? I can teach you. I heard you often go to Mr. Bloom at Leon Edison for advice. You have a perfectly good teacher right here, so why look far and wide?"

"But aren’t you very busy?"

"Spending time with my wife is more important than anything." Ethan Shaw tightened his arms around her. "What are these bills? Here, let me see."

Naomi Kenway started to get off his lap, but he pulled her even closer.

"Stay. It’s easier to hear when we’re closer, don’t you think?"

*

Ever since the two at home raised a suicidal fuss, Jackson Kensington hadn’t been able to eat or sleep properly. All he saw when he closed his eyes was fresh blood.

He wasted no time. Once his plans were in place, he called a shareholders’ meeting.

The purpose of the meeting was to rename the Kenway Group.

’Lorraine Warren wasn’t wrong. I’ve worked myself to the bone for this company, slaving away day and night. So why can’t it bear the Kensington name? Vincent Kenway and Rose Kenway have been dead for years—the grass on their graves is overgrown by now. The era of the Kenway Family is long gone. I’m the one who’s painstakingly managed this company, so it should bear the Kensington name.’

「Inside the conference room.」

Jackson Kensington sat in the chairman’s seat at the head of the table, and the assistant beside him gave a brief overview of the meeting’s agenda.

Saul Linton, seated at the table, erupted in anger. "So you still haven’t given up! All these years, the company has only withered under your management. How dare you propose changing its name? Your father-in-law and your late wife are watching you from the heavens! How can you be so shameless? Do you have no decency?!"

After Saul Linton’s tirade, a few others voiced their agreement. These shareholders were quite old; they were the ones who had helped Vincent Kenway build his empire from the ground up and had deep emotional ties to the Kenway Family.

Jackson Kensington’s face darkened. He shot a look at someone, who immediately stood up. "President Linton, I must disagree. It’s just a name change; it won’t affect our company’s development. Furthermore, the company’s decline has nothing to do with Chairman Kensington. We rode the economic boom back in the day and made a fortune in real estate, but we can’t expect to catch a wave like that every time. You’re being far too emotional. We shareholders are here to discuss the company’s long-term growth from a profit-driven perspective. I believe Chairman Kensington can lead us to even greater glory. After all his hard work over the years, a name change is perfectly understandable!"

Jackson Kensington nodded in satisfaction. "Gentlemen, enough talk. Let’s proceed with the formal vote to decide on the name change."

His tone was relaxed, confident he already had victory in his grasp, as he had made arrangements with many of the shareholders beforehand.

’I’m the one who calls the shots in the Kenway enterprise now. It’s just a name change; they have no reason to offend me.’

"Alright, let’s begin the vote."

"Wait!" Saul Linton said. "Not everyone is here yet."

Jackson Kensington suppressed his rage. "Isn’t this everyone who usually attends? I respect you as my elder, but don’t go looking for trouble. One more word out of you, and I’ll have security throw you out!"

CLICK. The conference room door was suddenly thrown open. Naomi Kenway walked in at the front, dressed in a sharp power suit. Her presence was even more imposing when she wasn’t smiling. A butler and several bodyguards followed behind her.

Jackson Kensington’s pupils widened. "Rose Kenway..."

Naomi Kenway regarded him with a faint, unreadable smile.

Jackson Kensington shook his head, finally realizing it wasn’t Rose Kenway, but Naomi Kenway. Dressed in a suit, she bore such a resemblance that for a moment, he had been too stunned to tell the difference.

The security guards trailed in sheepishly. "Our apologies, Mr. Kensington. We couldn’t stop them..."

Realization dawned, and Jackson Kensington roared with delayed fury, "Well, what are you all gawking at? Get this troublemaker out of here! Now! Get her out of my sight!!"

There were many security guards, but they were no match for the formidable bodyguards at Naomi Kenway’s side.

Jackson Kensington slammed his fist on the table in a rage. "A bunch of useless trash!" he yelled. "Get the hell out, or I’m calling the police to have you arrested!"

The butler behind Naomi Kenway spoke, his expression grim and serious. "Mr. Kensington, we are attending this shareholders’ meeting as legal shareholders. You have no right to remove us."

Jackson Kensington was dumbstruck. "What...?"

His assistant leaned over and whispered in his ear for a moment. Jackson Kensington stared at Naomi Kenway in disbelief. "Acquired them yesterday? You certainly work fast," he said through gritted teeth.

Naomi Kenway walked over and took a seat that was rightfully hers.

"Now that everyone is present, we can vote."

Jackson Kensington sneered. "Then let’s begin."

He didn’t think Naomi Kenway could possibly turn the tables.

However, the outcome was completely beyond his expectations.

「Vote Tally」

Out of twenty shareholders, nine voted in favor, while the remaining eleven all voted against.

Several of the people he had won over beforehand had defected...

In a fit of rage, Jackson Kensington smashed his glass.

The assistant chairing the meeting announced the final result: as the majority of shareholders had voted against the motion, the proposal to rename the company was officially shelved.

After the vote concluded, the shareholders began to file out. Naomi Kenway left the conference room with Saul Linton.

Saul Linton leaned on his cane. "Nina, you’ve grown up so much. I still remember you from your school days. So many years have passed in the blink of an eye..."

His cloudy eyes welled with tears. "I still remember your first birthday celebration. Old Kenway held you and proudly showed you off to all of us, saying, ’This is my granddaughter, the heir to the Kenway Family.’ To see you all grown up now, able to stand on your own two feet... I’m sure Old Kenway and Rose are looking down from heaven, and they must be so proud of you, my child."

Naomi Kenway helped support Saul Linton. "This meeting was all thanks to your help, Uncle Linton."

Saul Linton shook his head. "The Kenway nest has been taken over by a cuckoo. All of this... it should have been yours."
