"Evelyn, you should be resting, " Amelia walked towards the omega worriedly as soon as she saw her run towards the clinic.

"Amelia, where's J-Josh?" The girl asked breathlessly. "What happened to him? "

"Josh? He-He's oka—"

"Don't lie, " Evelyn deadpanned, her voice turning serious. "Keiran told me he isn't okay… I want to know what's wrong, "

The doctor's eyes shifted to the alpha who followed his mate. Keiran had a guilty expression on his face.

"Just tell me already! I'm losing my patience! "

Amelia flinched. It was the first time Evelyn ever raised her voice at her like that and it surprised her.

But she could see how frustrated the omega looked. She looked nervous and scared.

The doctor heaved a sigh in defeat.

"Josh is in the intensive care unit…He's unconscious now. We tried our best to take out the poison b-but the wound is too deep and-and it's closer to his heart…. " Amelia wiped her tears. It was hard for her to talk about this.

"B-But there must be some w-way, right? There must be s-some medicine…. We should tr-try everything! We can't just give up! I'll hel—"

"Evelyn, " Amelia stopped the girl. "We could have saved him if—if his wound was somewhere else but it's too late now… The poison is all over h-his body. God, I wish there was a way….I really do…."

"B-But Keiran survived… Why can't h-he?"

"The poison is wolfsbane… It's the natural enemy of wolves. A slight intake will turn our immune system upside down, " Amelia breathed in as she explained. "It'll make our wolves weak and drastically slow down our healing process. Keiran was injured on the arm while Josh was i-injured on the left shoulder. It's closer to his heart and so the poison spreads through the blood and it's now all over his body…. He can't heal… and his wolf is very weak…" Amelia looked down.

"I talked to him once when he was conscious. He said he could barely f-feel his wolf…. If his wolf d-dies in this situation, th-then he won't be able to—"

"No no no! Don't say that! There must be some way. Please don't let him go—Keiran! You tell her! We can save him, right? There must be someone in the world! Please please please—"

The alpha pulled his mate into a tight hug as she sobbed on his chest.

He waited some minutes for the omega to calm down.

The three of them were silent for a few minutes before Evelyn pulled away.

She took a deep breath before looking up at Amelia. "I-I'm sorry… I was—I was not ready for this… " She wiped her tears and closed her eyes.

Amelia only looked at her with empathy. She knows how it felt. She was going through it as well.

"Where's Rain?" Evelyn looked up when she remembered the omega.

Amelia sighed. "He's in front of the ICU…. He's been there since Josh was admitted. He wouldn't budge no matter what and at some point he stopped eating too… Calvin was worried sick about him so Keiran had to use his alpha voice to get the boy to eat something, " She shook her head. "Rain is afraid. He doesn't want to believe what's happening… That boy is a mess, "

Evelyn nodded. "Can I go see him? "

"You can… . but be careful when talking to him. He's on the edge…. He might not take it well, "

Evelyn slowly walked towards the ICU, followed by her mate. She saw a figure curled up in a chair. The boy was just blankly staring at the wall and beside him was Calvin.

He looked worried and exhausted.

"Rain… … " Evelyn softly called.

The omega flinched awake when he heard his name. He looked for the source of it and gasped when he saw Evelyn.

"Luna! " Rain shouted before he ran towards her. He engulfed her in a tight hug. "Y-You're okay? I was so scared—I'm glad you're okay. Thank god… " He breathed out but soon his words turned muffled as he sobbed into her chest.

"J-Josh…. He's i-in there… Amelia said he's—I don't believe it. I-It's not true, right? He's-He's very strong… He can fight it off… but nobody believes me! His parents also—they're crying like he's already gone but he's in there. A-And he's gonna come back—"

"Rain…. " Evelyn stopped the omega.

"P-Please…. Please don't tell me… I ca-can't…. He's my best friend, Luna…. I can't—how can I live without him?! I can't do that…. He's a good p-person. He always helped everyone…. He never hurt people intentionally… Goddess loves good people, right? S-So she'll save him, right? "

"Rain….., some-sometimes the goddess calls her f-favorite people to her sooner than the others….. It's-It's because she doesn't want them to be in this cruel world…. We-We don't deserve people like him…. He's too good for this world… . "

Rain looked up, a helpless emotion passing through his eyes before he went limp in her arms.

Calvin rushed towards his mate in a second. "He must have passed out from exhaustion again. I'll take him to Amelia, " The beta said before picking him up.

Evelyn stood there shocked and confused. Things were a mess….

And she couldn't do anything about it.

She bit her lips before following Calvin.

"Rain, open your eyes slowly, " Calvin gently tapped on the boy's cheeks to wake him up.

Amelia put him on an IV drip because he was too exhausted.

The omega slowly opened his eyes and asked for a glass of water.

"Sorry, I fainted…. I must be making you guys worry so much, " He looked down.

Evelyn gently caressed the boy's cheeks. "That's okay, we understand, " She smiled.

They were interrupted by a nurse coming into the room.

She gave the boy a smile before slowly taking the IV drip off of him.

"Hey, " Amelia greeted everyone as she entered the room with a bowl of soup. "I brought you soup, " She said to Rain while walking towards him.

"I'm not feeling hungry, " The boy refused.

"That's because of the IV drip. You need to drink this. It'll help with your nausea, "

The omega whined and tried to refuse but one stern look from Scarlett quickly made him obey the doctor like a good kid.

Amelia waited for him to finish the soup before speaking. She cleared her throat, causing everyone to turn towards her.

"Umm… Josh is awake now… . and he wants to talk to you guys, "
